We just had Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring installed and I’m wondering what everyone mops it with? Can I just use my regular Mr Clean and hot water or is there something specific I should use?

I use the Norwex mopping system with just water. My floors are super clean with no streaks or build up.

I also have new vinyl plank flooring. So far I’ve only wet swiffered it. I have it in my small bathroom. It looks beautiful. It’s rubbery but you can’t tell. I had a big problem with my toilet seal and the flooring held up perfectly. Since it’s a small space, I just use a damp paper towel to clean it.

See what your flooring manufacturer recommends. I just had it installed throughout a house at work and the installer said soap is the enemy of those floors. If you have to use something with soap, make sure you thoroughly rinse afterwards so it doesn't sit on there. We usually just use a mop with water.

This is what is in our new home. I vacuum, Swiffer and use the Bona products. I wipe up water whenever it's on the plank.
It's amazing to me how much of a difference it makes when I Bona the floor!

I’ve had it in my kitchen and master bathroom for about 3 years. My salesperson recommended a Swiffer-type (the OCedar brand works just as well as the Swiffer but cheaper) spray mop with the removable pad. Said to put 2 drops of Dawn dishsoap in the mop reservoir and fill it up, use that mix to mop. My floor, which gets a ton of traffic, including a small dog, looks as good as it did the day it was installed. I love my LVP!

I just had the luxury vinyl planks installed in my house to ready it for sale. I haven't lived with the floor very long, but before they left, the floor installers gave me the name of the product that I should use to clean it. I bought it at Home Depot (Amazon has it also) and it is called "Rejuvenate Luxury Vinyl Floor Cleaner" which says it is streak-free and residue-free. And on my floor, it is! They told me to use my regular dry swiffer mop and put a cloth on it. Spray the cleaner and go over it with the cloth on the mop. Of course, you can purchase a mop that takes the cloth strips but I already have one but it is packed up and out of here. All I had left in the house was my dry swiffer mop. I have used the dry swiffer on the floor when I saw a couple of bits and pieces that had been tracked in by all the people during the open houses. It worked fine. You could also just vacuum for picking up dry bits. But for actual cleaning of spots and marks, the spray is great.

Check with the manufacturer and see what they recommend. If you have any leftover, there may be paperwork in the box. Mine recommended a PH neutral cleaner. I use one from Zep that I ordered from Amazon. It's been nearly 2 years of weekly mopping and I'm just about ready to purchase a 2nd gallon. I think Home Depot carries it also.

I’ll use Bona if it’s on sale but the majority of the time I have water with a capful of original pine sol in my little spray mop. Works just as well. Plus the pine sol is excellent in greasy laundry loads.

Definitely look at what the manufacturer recommends. Ours said to use vinyl floor cleaner like Bona but I’ve used plain water with a couple tablespoons of white vinegar too and it also worked fine.

I only have it in my kitchen. I use the Bona mop with water and some spray if needed.
