Not that long ago, it was all about letting the states decide. Fucking liars much!
Let's not forget this is coming from an unmarried childless closeted gay man!
This shouldn't be buried on page 16 of a generic thread.

It takes two people for a lie to succeed. One to lie, and the other to agree to be lied to.
People need to stop believing Republicans when they talk about state's rights. They do not mean it. They never do. They never have.

It’s a reminder not to vote for any republicans at any level of government.

They have zero integrity and their voters don’t care if they’re hypocrites or liars or just really shitty human beings. I cannot be surprised by any of the shady crap they pull. Lindsey Graham is one of the worst, what a feckless little creep.

South Carolina is a blood red state (as in 'blood on their hands' -- but I digress).
Lindsey is pandering to the SC base. Banning abortion is a rally-cry for SC "conservatives" as they call themselves. And that's who will re-elect Lindsey. He has to give them what they want.

For years, probably most of my adult life, I have known so many people who admitted they vote Republican only because of the pro life issue. They voted for Republicans for president so that hopefully, those R presidents would appoint enough supreme court judges so that Roe V Wade could be overturned. Well, when they got their way, I wondered, what one issue will they vote on NOW? What one issue will Republicans run on now that it was overturned. And now we know. This is it.

For years, probably most of my adult life, I have known so many people who admitted they vote Republican only because of the pro life issue. It’s the number one issue for an overwhelming number of people I know. And they want a total ban. It’s completely irrational, but you can’t introduce rationality to the conversation. They are Pavlovian about it.

The people who vote R because of the abortion issue most often are in the privileged position of never having had a disastrous pregnancy, or loving someone who has. And I’m happy for them. But damn, America, we’re going to have to start learning to look at the world through more than one lens. The lens of your privilege is cloudy and broken. It’s giving you a false view.
I’m pretty tired of being asked to consider the worldviews of GOP voters when they never consider anyone else’s but their own.

Come on...we all knew this states' rights excuse was bullshit, right? How many times was it predicted here that the next step was a nation-wide ban?
I have, at times in my life, voted for local republicans because I thought they held a better platform than the democrat candidates. Not now. In our primary I voted right down the ticket, all capital Ds. As far as I'm concerned, this will continue for the rest of my life. The republicans are going to have to scrub really hard to get the stink off themselves.

No more. Sometimes they grow up and move on to national politics, and I’m not voting for that.
