. . . I am turning into my grandmother. I realized this as I walked out of the bathroom after my shower this morning with no less than three hair products in my hair and two different lotions on. All before I got dressed, did my hair and put on my makeup. If I count the hair gel and hair spray I used when I did my hair, I now have five products on it. My favorite grandmother was a classy woman. Think Grace Kelly or Jackie Kennedy type class. She never went out without makeup, nice clothing and nails done. I remember sitting and watching her get ready to go out. It usually took her at least two hours to get ready for whatever event her and Grandpa were attending. She always had all sorts of lotions, perfumes, and such all over her dressing table. Sweats? Never! Go out without makeup? Never! She colored her hair (a very light tint, not some really dark color) until the day she died. That was Grandma. My mom is very easy going. She rarely does makeup anymore, doesn't color her hair, dresses nicely when she must but otherwise is always in comfortable clothes. Apparently I am high maintenance just like Grandma. I would love to be just like her. She was an awesome lady. Guess I need to own it. Anyone else turning into someone besides their mother as they age?

My grandmother was the same way. The day before she died she wanted her nails done. I really, really miss her and yes, I'm just like her. My mom was like that too but since the dementia set in she's less concerned about how she looks except she refuses to go gray, has to get her hair colored regularly.

My grandma wasn't high maintenance, but I have to say that when she got sick near the end is the only time I saw her where she wasn't a red head. Well, my dad tells me he remembers her with brown hair since red was not her natural color.

I wish I was as classy as my mother or my grandmothers. I'm a slob by comparison. I just can't seem to muster the energy it takes to be completely put together (beautiful clothes, hair, nails, makeup all done), when it is so easy to throw on jeans and a tee shirt and sneakers. Heck, I feel accomplished if I remember to smear on my anti aging face cream before I go to sleep.

ahhhhhhhh I knew I wasn't turning into my mother (although some of her traits are certainly ingrained in me) But I hadn't considered it could go back further! My guess would be my maternal grandmother's mother (my great grandma) Mom and her mom are considerably more high maintance than I am. At 96 grandma still goes to the salon to get her hair done, wears her lipstick, pearls and a dress to town. Mom is a do her hair and dress up to run errands. I feel pretty good about being clean and my bun retwisted so it sits straight That would be granny Smith!
