I am on the hunt for the best tasting coffee to make at home. Have any of you discovered a delicious kind?

I like grinding my own at grocery stores where the machine is next to the beans. DH got me a cheaper model espresso machine and I tried a lot of different beans, including beans from my favorite small chain coffee shop (Tierra Mia-but it tasted very different from what they serve). I found my absolute favorite beans at Smart & Final, but Im not sure if this store is nationwide.

Dh roasts his own. He buys green beans from all over the place. There have been very few that he hasn't liked. And though there are several he really likes, he can't resist trying new ones. He uses them mostly with a pour over set up.

Dh and I have used the Kirkland brand for years. It's strong and dark, the best kind. lol. I've also trained my kids to like it so now they're spoiled for coffee (my ds's words)... When they taste ordinary coffee, like at convenience stores or rest stops when traveling, it tastes like dishwater to them. hahaha

It really is a matter of taste. What tastes great to one person is crap to another. I like my coffee dark and with a bite. People who hate Starbucks because it’s bitter? That’s why I like it. I drink coffee black, no sugar, so all I’m tasting is coffee. I drink Folgers at home because that’s what I grew up with. I like McDonald’s and Southwest (yes I’ve heard the stories, still tastes good). I don’t like Chik-fil-A or Burger King. Smoothest coffee I ever drank was kona in Honolulu. When I want some real dark bitter coffee I use my Moka pot.

Ours is local but they ship. We love Kaladi Brothers' Trieste Cafe. Flavors are caramel, dark chocolate, almond and smoky. Very smooth.

Then we tried Kirkland’s and that’s all I buy now. Who knew that big box store coffee would end up being my favorite?

I like grinding my own at grocery stores where the machine is next to the beans. I miss those in the grocery stores! I used to love that aisle because I love the smell of freshly ground coffee. Yum! None of the groceries I shop in have it anymore. It really is a matter of taste. What tastes great to one person is crap to another. And this ^^^^. I drink the Starbuck's ground Mocha flavored coffee that I buy at the grocery. I add cinnamon, half&half, and splenda because I try to disguise the actual coffee taste of it- lol. (but I love the smell of it!) There are many coffees and no one will make everyone happy.

Seattle's Best Post Alley. It's very dark "intense and smoky," and I brew it using the pour-over method with two very heaped scoops for one tall cup. Splash of heavy cream (Walmart's Great Value brand.)

I buy Starbucks Morning Joe for home brewing. DH likes Peet's for decaf (my response to decaf is the 25th letter of the alphabet...). We have a local roaster with great Ethiopian coffee, but it's too pricey to have as our everyday cup.

We use a local roaster and I like it also because I can buy a version that's organic. I don't like dark roasted coffee.Starbucks coffee does taste all burnt to me. My favorite version is a medium roast from this local roaster. We buy whole beans and then grind them as needed at home with a small grinder. I make it in a small Bodum French Press and drink it black with a bit of raw sugar.

We prefer Kalamazoo coffee company, especially their Backpacker's coffee blend. You can order online directly from them. We can find most of their coffee in stores in Michigan.
A local coffee shop called Water Street is pretty good. DH stops by one of their shops to buy a bag when he wants a dark roast. His favorite is like $25/bag so it's more of a treat than a regular thing.
Another factor in how good coffee tastes is how it's brewed. Sorry, but Mr Coffee and Keurig do not taste as good as pour over coffee. It takes longer but so much better.

My husband and I were in Asheville, NC for our anniversary in May, and I picked up some locally roasted coffee at the grocery store there to use in the coffee maker in our hotel room. It is excellent! The company is Pisgah Coffee Roasters, the blend is Squirrely Blend. Their decaf is also very good. It works well in my French press and it also does well in a coffee maker. Squirrely Blend has a mellow but complex flavor with a nutty undertone (not nut flavored, though.) Now I order through their website. pisgahroasters.com/

We are not coffee connoisseurs. We buy Duncan Donuts whole bean and grind just before making. DH likes a bit of sugar in his and I like flavored cream and Splenda. Neither of us like a very strong or bitter coffee.

I get mine at Able Coffee Roasters, a local shop that was started by two special ed teachers to provide jobs to neurodivergent youth. They only buy free trade beans and source them from all over the place. I never know what I'm going to find when I go in for my beans. My favorite is one called Bali Blue and I always buy two of those if they have them.

Another vote for Costco Kirkland house blend. Excellent coffee and great price. If you don't have a grinder, you can grind it at the warehouse (near the food court).
