Hi everyone! Like I have been saying every.single.day of my Fall Break I should pack a few boxes in preparation for my move But I am the Queen of Procrastination ... we'll see if I actually do any packing. I'm also trying to sell a bunch of junk on Facebook Marketplace ... super cheap ... so far I have made $10! It's super sunny here today but not all that warm ... typical for Calgary ... I'm thinking of jeremysgirl out camping right now ... brrrrrrrr!!!! . (I'm assuming the weather is warmer where she is though!) Hoping to hear from scrapmaven soon! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I'm a pretty adventurous eater and would love to try octopus someday! My mum thinks I'm nuts! Dinner tonight will probably be my last Hello Fresh meal before I get another delivery tomorrow ... Tomato and Pepper Bruschetta Bocconcini Bowls with Crispy Garlic Croutons ... yum! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

I thought that I had eaten octopus at a seafood place when I just learned that it wasn't but was a kind of squid. It was delicious, but what isn't delicious when batter-coated and deep fried?
Octopus is commonly confused with calamari, though both are surprisingly different in taste (when served raw) and cooking methods. Many people think calamari dishes are made from octopus, when in fact calamari is actually made from a type of squid.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight but am planning the youth dinner for tomorrow. Garlic-Parm baked drumsticks, hashbrown potato casserole, salad and freshly baked cookies for dessert. Feeding about 15 people.

Happy Saturday! It’s sunny here too leannec but chilly. It was so pretty this week. Then the rain and wind came thru and knocked a lot of the leaves off the trees. I hope scrapmaven is doing well. I’m doing a little bit of cleaning, scrapbooking and watching football today. Dinner will be pizza as we watch Purdue. Have a great day ladies!

We are on our way to Tennessee. The weather should be pretty good but honestly I like camping in the fall when it gets a little cooler. Truth is the last place I'd want to be is in my camper if it was 80 degrees. it was 39 at my house this morning so very chilly.
We got off to a later start than we wanted to. Under an hour but still not quite what we expected. It took forever for me to check my dog in. We are almost to Indianapolis. Which means we're making good time.
We probably aren't going to get there until around 7 pm. So I assume we will pick something up to eat on the way.
Oh and remember I said I was worried about our friends fighting on the trip? They cancelled on us this morning right as we were walking out the door. They claimed illness. So at least I know Jeremy and I will have a good week together on our own.

We have a busy day ahead. Thankfully is is overcast, drizzly, and cool. Ah, Hello Fall!
We have the Fire Station Open House to attend, and then a sensory friendly Trick or Treat event with our local Autism group.
Also need to stop by Home Depot for some more vinyl supplies. We need to extend out the vinyl in the kitchen so our new fridge fits.
Dinner will be chicken, gravy, AF potatoes, asparagus, and broccoli. Last night we ended up doing fix it yourself night.

We are headed out to dinner to our favourite restaurant in the city. It is a bit more of a trek now we have moved out to the suburbs, but worth it. It is DH's birthday tomorrow, which is why we are going there. Just figuring out public transport options, as the way we would normally get there has rail closures this weekend. leannec - definitely try octopus if you get the chance. Little ones are more tender, but the big ones have more flavor.

Happy Saturday. Have some errands to run and then planning on making sheet pan chicken with roasted squash. Easy and should give some lunch leftovers. Planning a big hike tomorrow to enjoy the leaves. I love fall!

Yeah Jeremy heard from him before they cancelled to discuss where we were going to meet up because they live 45 minutes away from us. And he said they had been fighting. So Jeremy thinks they didn't come because of that instead of illness. She called right at the last minute.

I pulled out a hotdish from the freezer that I'm planning to heat up for supper tonight.
Last night's roast was too much for DH and I so I'm freezing it into a couple frrezer bags that I can pull out for easy suppers in the future.

At DS’s house babysitting the grandboys. Number 3 is down for a nap and will sleep for a couple hours. It’s cold today so the others don’t want to be outside, even the dog wants to be in.
Supper will be whatever DH plans while I’m babysitting.

It's our anniversary, but we're just having a low-key day at home. We'll probably watch some football, and the Capitals game tonight. We'll have our usual steak and sweet potatoes for dinner. It's our go-to for Saturday nights.

Happy Saturday. rymeswithpurple, Happy Anniversary, you two. jeremysgirl, a camping trip w/just Jeremy and you could be very romantical and healing. Enjoy your trip. Thank you to destined2bmom and cadoodlebug for treating the thread w/such care this week. I got home last night. A minor one thing thing turned into quite a few days in order to get something right. Today I'm mainly relaxing and mil will come for dinner. We're doing takeout from her favorite restaurant up here. She moved in to her new place 2 days ago. Sil and ods are also here. It's a full house. Enjoy today and I wish everyone a happy, relaxing weekend.

It was delicious, but what isn't delicious when batter-coated and deep fried? I don't think I've ever seen octopus battered and deep fried on a menu, so that is a give-away that you are eating squid. My favorite is grilled octopus but I'll take it anyway it is offered. I can't remember if you eat sushi, leannec, but if you do, tako is octopus on the sushi menu and a great way to try a piece without committing to an entree. And if you like calamari, you will like octopus. We need to extend out the vinyl in the kitchen so our new fridge fits. I reread this so many times and my crafting brain was trying to figure out how/why you need vinyl for the fridge to fit until the the lightbulb went off. Now, if this isn't about flooring, I'm very confused. jeremysgirl, it sounds like a good development that you and Jeremy are on your own for the week. I'm annoyed for you that you didn't find out until the very last minute. Happy Anniversary, rymeswithpurple! Enjoy the family gathering, scrapmaven. We are puttering around here. Both DD and DH are sorting out banking stuff. He was on hold using our house* phone with our Canadian bank while she was at our local bank. Her bank sends a code to our house phone so she phones me to give it to her. DH hears me and is shouting down with the number when my brother calls. I decline him and finish with DD. Brother does what he always does when I don't answer my cell, and calls the house phone. DH declines him. I don't call him back immediately, so about fifteen minutes later the exact same thing happens. DD needs another code, DH still on hold, I'm the go between and DB calls. *house phone is our old land line ported to my old cell phone Dinner tonight will be salmon, asparagus and something with sweet potatoes and a couple golden potatoes that need to be used. I'm leaning to a hash with onions since DD is going to be out with friends (she hates onions).

Since my cousin is here, dinner will be at my friend’s Mexican restaurant. (I don’t need an excuse.) Welcome back, scrapmaven. Happy anniversary, rymeswithpurple! I vote for “who cares” whether the friends are actually sick or not. They provided a polite excuse, and now you don’t have to put up with them for the weekend. jeremysgirl leannecbc2ca!! That sounds exactly like my phone adventures, well, except I don’t have the added bonus of being on hold with a foreign country (although I have to say, Canada doesn’t feel so very foreign). DS calls my cell phone when I’m on another call or in the bathroom. If I don’t answer, he calls the house phone. If I don’t answer, he texts me. If I don’t respond, he starts all over again. Or if he gives up, when I call him back in a few minutes, he’s forgotten why he called in the first place. Yes, he’s a little ADHD.

I also prefer my fish and seafood to be grilled or pan seared ... other than calamari - I do like fried calamari with a good dip!

Today was my volunteer day at First Baptist....we served Chicken barley soup, shepherds pie, sweet potato casserole, green salad and fruit salad, with cheesecake for dessert. All the food, and drinks are donated by local a resturant and super markets. Our clients ate well and were very happy...they love the shepherds pie!!

Earlier my SIL called because MIL called her because MIL didn't answer when DH called MIL because BIL was on the phone and MIL was worried that something bad happened so called SIL to call me to find out. FTR, MIL always assumes something bad has happened if she hasn't talked to us.

Whew we have about an hour left to drive. Jeremy has decided that drive through food won't work for him so he is insisting on cooking over the campfire tonight. We will make calzones in the pie irons because that is quick and easy to do after we set up camp.

No way would I agree to that ... you are way more easygoing than me! I'm sure Tennessee in October is absolutely beautiful ... photos please!

We just finally got done with everything we need for tonight. And are sitting by the fire. I've got dinner stuff ready to go. I just have to put it together. Our campsite is right on the lake. Here is our view. I know this isn't for everyone but I find it very fun. It's so peaceful and relaxing.
