Hi everyone! I am sitting here procrastinating! I have a HUGE amount of marking to do this weekend ... online parent/teacher conferences are late next week so I need this stuff to be inputted ... I DETEST marking! Two images from Facebook for you today: I only make one recipe that asks for Worchestershire sauce ... why do I own a Costco sized bottle? ... and we have had a bunch of snow fall since last night ... here is my backyard ... I am glad to be staying in today. Dinner tonight might be pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy ... buttered peas ... that would be if my mum comes over for dinner ... if not, I have no idea what I'll make for myself ... maybe tuna salad. Healing thoughts going out to The Birdhouse Lady! I know I am forgetting a couple of other people who are not feeling 100% ... know that I'm thinking of you! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

DS and I were talking about Worcestershire sauce the other day. We use it quite a bit and know how to pronounce it correctly too!! Lots of YouTube cooks call it ādubā sauce.
No idea what dinner will be. Maybe chicken. We have lots of leftover veggies.
Iām working on a Christmas card design right now and will be scrapbooking with friends on Zoom later.

Oh that snow is so pretty leannec ! We have dark grey clouds above and it is supposed to rain today. Yay! We are headed out for a day trip and then Mr. Toby has a grooming appointment. Tonight is potato leek soup and cranberry orange muffins. Fresh cranberries arrived in the stores so I bought a few bags, washed, and froze them in 2 cup bags.

Not sure what is for dinner. I am feeling a bit better but still no desire to eat much. Need to work on my great-niece's first year album today and get it finished up. It's going to be a great weekend weather-wise too.

Going out for dinner with friends.
Beautiful day today, and will be 19C in a bit. No need for a sweater as it is really warm and no wind.
Tomorrow for the youth group I am making Shepherd's pie, salad and brownies for dessert.

leannec I thought that chinook winds were in your area? Maybe it was Edmonton? The snow is pretty but way too soon for me.

leannec, that is a beautiful photo, but someone needs to write to the universe and remind it that it's not even Halloween, yet. Ds told me that marking isn't too difficult when the student never comes to class or turns in assignments. Ds had a student come up to him and complain about his low grade. Ds had to ask who he was, because the kid never goes to class, so he clearly doesn't do the work. That kid has chutzpah! Apparently, this is not abnormal. Mil is coming for lunch. I'll make chicken teriyaki bowl w/fresh squash and other veggie that are not fresh. I would be happy if I could spend just a little bit of time at the puzzle today, but I'm not sure that will happen. Dinner will be a fend night, since I'm cooking dinner for lunch. The Birdhouse Lady, thinking of you while you recover. Enjoy your weekend my lovlies.

Boo on snow leannec. I go through wicked amounts of worcestershire sauce. I used it in stew, soups, hamburgers, and last but probably the most is Chex mix. I love, love, love homemade Chex mix. I'm glad MIL is coming to you today scrapmaven. It will be nice for her to experience your cozy home environment. christine58 I really hope you start to feel better. It feels like a Sunday to me. Good news is that today is only Saturday. We are on our way home right now. We left about 9:30 am. We get better at the packing up for takeoff and landing each time we do it. We are almost to Indiana right now. Just at the edge of Kentucky. We will eat whatever we find along the way. We lose an hour of time on our way so I'm hoping we get home sometimes around 8-9pm.

Well, after having a fun evening yesterday with the book sorting ladies., I got a message while I was shopping this morning, letting me know they were meeting again this afternoon and that I would be very welcome to join them. So, I went - the alternative was staying home alone watching football on TV and knitting. Again, it was a lot of fun, and I found my niche - myself and another younger woman who works in a preschool got set on the children's books, hundreds of children's books! We were so efficient, as we could just look at books and know what age group they were for. Bonus of being a sorter - if we see anything we like or want, we can buy them in advance of the sale. Over the two sessions, I have picked up 4 or 5 mystery novels, a couple of kid's books and today a gorgeous hardcover cookbook - it costs ā¬35 new, was in perfect condition, and I could have it for ā¬10! I was also lucky that someone offered top drive me home - it is only 1.5km (about 1 mile), but after 3 hours on my feet and bending and lifting, it was very welcome. As it was after 6pm when I finally got home, dinner will be spag bol, as it is quick, and I have everything I need. I also have a glass of red wine already poured while dinner cooks. leannec - we use a lot of Worcestershire sauce. I use it as a flavour enhancer in lots of soups and stews. I probably buy a bottle (small) each year.

Enjoy your road trip today, jeremysgirl . I hope you find some yummy food stops. A cousin of dh's used to take road trips around the country, based upon Diner's Drive-in's and Dives. Sadly, she told us that most of those stops weren't good. I was very disappointed to learn that. She's an excellent cook w/a great palate, so I trust her judgement.
sueg, I read your post and saw "I got a massage today while shopping". I instantly wanted to go to Munich when I do my next grocery run. Then I re-read. Oh! Time for new glasses.

We slept in ~ 7:15! Just got back from our walk. Funny story: I told y'all that we're heading down to Pacific Grove/Carmel on the Monterey Peninsula on Tues through Thurs. I texted DS to let him know and he immediately called me. I knew his company gives them $1,500 towards a vacation and he never used his and it goes away at the end of the year. He decided to go on a solo vacation to Monterey so he's staying at a big hotel/spa from Mon through Thurs. He's having a massage on Monday because he needs to spend the entire $1,500. Anyway he's going to take us out to dinner on Tues or Wed night. What are the odds that we'd be there at the same time? I'm hoping dinner is salmon. This is the Republic of Montenegro: a Venetian town called Perast on the Bay of Kotor.

That is so nice you made some new friends sueg. You would think based on my Facebook responses I have a lot of friends. But I need some more real life ones. Or I just need to come out of my COVID/grief and start hanging out with my friends again. I miss them. That was one thing from my thread yesterday I think I need, more people time.

jeremysgirl - I am really bad at making friends, and I was so nervous about going out yesterday - I almost called and said I couldn't make it after all. But I am glad I made the effort - it usually is that way for me when I actually put myself out there, it is just the anticipation and effort of getting put the door in the first place that holds me back.

Ds had to ask who he was, because the kid never goes to class, so he clearly doesn't do the work. That kid has chutzpah! Apparently, this is not abnormal. Hehehehe, yes I can relate! It is a PITA at report card time because they want you to report SOMETHING ... ummm, dude did NOTHING ... sometimes they show up every day and do NOTHING! I have at least four students who have not yet attended school this year but are still on my attendance ... a couple are out of the country and a couple just don't come to school ... sigh! Bonus of being a sorter - if we see anything we like or want, we can buy them in advance of the sale. I worked for IKEA while in university as a receptionist ... my office was right beside the As Is workroom ... when I would see something in there that I wanted they would let me know when they were putting it on the floor and that is when I would take my break so that I could buy it! My whole house, at one time, was furnished by IKEA! But I need some more real life ones. Or I just need to come out of my COVID/grief and start hanging out with my friends again. I miss them. That was one thing from my thread yesterday I think I need, more people time. I'm the same ... I have very few real life friends ... it is too much work! I did go for lunch the other day with an old friend that I haven't seen in years ... we have known each other since we were about 12 ... it was fun! Work "peoples" me out ... you don't have that issue ...

Another user of Worcestershire sauce! jeremysgirl and sueg I too need to make some more local friends. So many of mine have moved and with the pandemic I haven't been making new ones. Last night my neighbor's dogs were barking for a long time around 1 am. I kept getting up to see if the animals tearing up our grass were back. We think it may be raccoons. When I saw no raccoons then I thought catalytic converter theft and checked a different window. š Nothing. I slept in. Today is takeout Vietnamese food.

Marina the dogs two campsites over were barking all afternoon yesterday. I nearly went over and asked them to put their dogs inside their camper, it was so annoying. At least most people have the good sense not to let their dogs bark in the middle of the night. You must have been tired

DS and I were talking about Worcestershire sauce the other day. We use it quite a bit and know how to pronounce it correctly too!! Lots of YouTube cooks call it ādubā sauce. My parents are British so I knew how to pronounce it before I could read the label. I don't know if I ever could have figured it out on my own. Bonus of being a sorter - if we see anything we like or want, we can buy them in advance of the sale. I was wondering if you would be coming home with a stash. Way to go out of your comfort zone and help with the sorting. A cousin of dh's used to take road trips around the country, based upon Diner's Drive-in's and Dives. Sadly, she told us that most of those stops weren't good. We did this a few times and are about 50% happy with the picks. Some will live on in the family stories as worst places we have ever eaten. Safe travels today, jeremysgirl . It is gray and cool here and rain is coming this evening, so pulling in all the outdoor cushions went to the top of my "to do" list for today. A local grocery store with my favorite butcher shop had chicken breasts for $1.59/lb so I loaded the cart and will grill them all this afternoon. They are humongous, and I prefer to cut them in 3-4 pieces, grill then freeze over freezing raw. I love having something easy to pull out of the freezer for my carnivores when I make vegetarian dinners or if they want a hearty snack. Dinner tonight will be chicken gyros in pita with a Greek salad and tzatziki.

bc2ca do you make your own pita? I can't seem to find Greek pita bread anywhere around me. I buy those gyro kits where all the ingredients are included and you just warm the meat and add your veggies. I havent had a good gyro since the cafeteria in my office building closed down.

I have made my own pita but not in years. Way back when I had a bread machine, pita and bagels were my favorite things to make. True Greek gyro bread is a flatbread and skillet fried. Most commercial pocket pita breads are too big and too dry IMHO. Trader Joe's has a Middle Eastern flatbread that we really like and is the perfect size. Costco sometimes has one, too, but I find the flatbread they sell is way too big for a gyro and really thick.

I have no idea what is for dinner....I'll leave it up to DH...with some input, leaving it entirely up to him could be dangerous!!!
I was on call last night and was called in at 1215, worked till 315, so my day was pretty messed up. I did make a yummy breakfast, blueberry pancakes, bacon hash browns....and delicious coffee. I took the dog for a walk then had a nap. I spent a couple hours working on Christmas cards with KelleeM and another friend, via Zoom. DH just got home so we will have the dinner conversationš³š³

DH was off four wheeling today with friends. He sent me a photo of him and the rig covered in mud. Looks like heās going to have some cleaning to do when he gets home.
I did some errands and shopping today by myself. I love getting to shop by myself- no one is waiting for me or standing beside me while I look at stuff.
I had Manchu Wok for lunch and supper will be the leftovers. DH will fend for himself when he gets home.
Tomorrow Iām babysitting grandboy #3 while his parents and the big boys go to Canadaās Wonderland for the day.

Hi friends! We went to a local farm today and just hung around their fall market for an hour or so. There were so many kiddos there, and we didn't need anything beyond the 28 (š³) pound pumpkin that my husband decided on. I took a few pictures for another couple, and they took some for us in exchange. We saw them later in the parking lot and they'd bought nothing but a half dozen donuts. We laughed because there was so much other good stuff! Apart from that, just a trip to Kohl's and the grocery store. Steak and sweet potatoes as always for our Saturday dinner, and we have a Trader Joe's pumpkin bread mix in the oven now. Oh! And in sort of ridiculous medical news, my dermatologist prescribed me an oral antifungal for 4 weeks because my dermatitis is not letting up. I was reading up on it...and lo and behold, a different medicine I'm on is on the "do not take together" list. Ugh! I'm not sure what the potential interaction could do, but I don't know what would've happened if I did - I usually take meds with lunch and my husband works in-person 3 days/week (I haven't picked up the antifungal yet, and quickly emailed their office when I noticed this). (Still waiting on the final rheumatologist lab too.) Happy Saturday!
