So far this is a pretty good show! I just wanted to give the perspective from a lifelong Alaskan - it’s “fairly” accurate, especially compared to most shows about Alaska. The biggest surprise for us? It’s actually filmed here. Hillary Swank is doing a good job with the role of an investigative reporter working for the small fictitious Anchorage newspaper. Anyone else watching this one?

Not watching yet, but have seen the ads on TV and it does look interesting. I really like Hillary Swank, so I think I'll set my PVR. Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm glad you commented on this. I've been watching and I wondered how accurate it was. I'm half way through this week's episode. What surprised me most was the view of the tundra. It isn't how I picture Alaska but I know it is a huge state so there has to be a lot of different terrain.

I watched it and enjoyed it but then left because I just wasn't in the mood for a serious drama. My life is complex right now and I need comedy escapism for awhile.

I've been watching it and really like it. I especially like Hillary Swank's character... that confidence and hard edge she employs. I've read that some scenes have been filmed in Alaska but the majority of the show is filmed in Canada.

I really like this show. I’ve watched all but this week’s episode. I feel like this is a binge show because it’s going to take a long time to solve the mystery. I do the same with Big Sky, save all the episodes and binge.
I am concerned because Hilary Swank is pregnant with twins. I hope this doesn’t impact the show, meaning it gets canceled.

I'm liking it so far. Hilary is great in the role. The guy who hired her used to be on Grey's Anatomy. Took me a moment to remember him since he's lost weight since then.

I am watching and enjoying this show. It seems to be trying to depict indigenous cultures and issues in a realistic and caring manner. It was an added bonus to see scenes I remember from our Alaskan cruise a few years ago.

I have 6 seasons of A French Village to get through first but I plan to watch it. We were in Alaska in August so I am quite interested.

I'm from Alaska as well and I too have found it to be quite accurate. My husband and I were talking last night about whether or not it actually films here. I'm guessing that they filmed the landscapes and the actors were on a set somewhere else. The tundra shots were beautiful. I wonder which village they used for Meade? I lived in Barrow and that was my first thought, that it was there. I did not see any landmarks to confirm it. I did notice that none of the actors in Meade looked like Eskimos. They have a distinct Asian look. So that wasn't very accurate.

Totally agree with you, some of the “Alaska Natives” are not accurate and the accent isn’t right (I lived in a few villages as a teacher), but a few people they got right. We pondered “Meade” as well and it could be Nome. I’ve been there and they have outlying villages that look exactly like that.

Lol at the moose because that’s extremely common (we literally see moose daily). I’ve been on that trail she’s running on. I’ve been to most of the spots they are filming. It’s fun for us to watch parts of “home” on this show. SPOILER ALERT: One hilarious part is that she gets a free ride to Kodiak with a guy she met once. The flight in that Beaver plane would have been over $4000 and she offers to buy him a drink lol. Some thank you! Small plane flights are spendy!
