The dental hygenist recommended I use an electric toothbrush. I got one for $49 at Target last year (Oral B with a round brush head) and didn't use it much because I had trouble getting used to it. And I am lazy and didn't try hard!
Because I really need to step it up as my teeth and gums need help, I am rethinking an electric tooth brush. Does anyone have one they recommend? I know some like Oral B and some like Sonicare. Oral B has a round head and Sonicare a regular (like a manual toothbrush) head.
What are your recommendations or what does your dentist/hygenist recommend? I am willing to spend more to get something good! Also I have to look at replacement brush heads and costs.

I use a Sonicare, which is what our dentist recommended. Using one made a huge difference in my tooth and gum health.

I prefer my Quip to the Sonicare I used to have. Our dentist recommended switching away from the Sonicare because he said they’re too aggressive for many people’s gums. Both DH and I were experiencing mild gum recession with the Sonicare that has resolved for both of us since switching to Quip.

We have the Oral B, I think. We got them at Costco and they also sell the brush heads. These are our second ones and they have a timer so you know how long you should be brushing each quadrant

My dentists (plural) and oral surgeon all recommended the Sonicare. The ones with all the bells and whistles aren’t necessary but one dentist likes one that has a pressure sensor since some people brush too hard [or too easy?].
I’ve had mine for eons and really like it but it doesn’t have that feature. But I like a smaller toothbrush head than it comes with and they stopped making them, so I had to find a company that has them manufactured and sells them to dentists’ offices. (An alternative small brush head on Amazon was terrible.) I had to buy a ton so if you like your toothbrush put want tiny brush heads, let me know and I can send you some. Because unless I live to 130 I won’t use them all.

I had recently read thar the ones with a circular motion are better then the ones that just wiggle back and forth. Watching this thread to see what you all think. as I want to replace my old Sonicare

I don’t know about which is better, but using a Sonicare has meant that I no longer have to go in every 3 months for a perio cleaning, and I get a gold star from the hygienist every time I go, so I’m a big fan.
My current model has two speeds so those who want a less aggressive cleaning can use the lower setting.

DH and I both have the Waterpik Sonic Fusion 2.0 which has an integrated water flosser, although the brush is detachable and can be used without the flosser

We use Sonicare. No problems, and great dental checkups.

I love my Quip. I have a terrible gag reflex, and my Quip is the only toothbrush of that type that doesn’t trigger the reflex. The Sonicare is great, but I can actually use my Quip much more comfortably for the recommended time.

I bought Sonicare from dentist and it failed while under warranty, got replacement and same thing happened. After 3rd replacement I bought one at Target and it is still working.
I get much better checkups after using an electric toothbrush.

I have had sonicare and an oral B. Both worked well for me. The sonicare broke due to user error and ended up with oral b as I got a hand me down handle.

This toothbrush is incredible! It offers guided brushing so it teaches you how brush including angle, placement, speed, etc. They have this one with batteries or they have one that is rechargeable. (We use rechargeable batteries in general so went with this one) Which toothbrush do you recommend?

It's $19.99 at Walmart, does that sound right? I expected it to cost a lot more so I want to make sure I have the right one. I don't know how to post a link or I would show you the one I googled. I have a problem with gum recession, so maybe I should not get a sonicare (as gum problems are bad in my family).

I’ve used a sonicare for about 10 years but I was starting to have issues with my gums so my hygienist recommended the Oral-B IO Series toothbrush. We’ve seen a huge improvement in my overall dental health. Granted, I have the mac daddy $300 one (I used hsa money) but it is awesome. It does a 3d tooth mapping to let you know areas you missed. It also has a pressure indicator to let you know if you are brushing too hard or soft.

I love my Oral B. Haven't had any dental issues since I started using it. Which one do you use? I called my dentist office and the hygenist I saw last week recommended oral b. I have been researching all day! I saw good reviews for the oral b io series 5 ($120) as it has a super sensitive setting. I may buy that one. The one I have now is pretty strong and it was cheaper - $39.

My SIL sells Sonicare so we all got them for Christmas a few years ago. The charging situation for the specific one that I have is ridiculous (you have to balance it carefully in a glass cup) but my dentist is very happy with my teeth. I follow it up with flossing. All while I read a book
