Hi everyone! I'm excited this morning because I am getting my new sofa, chair, standing lamp and chest of drawers delivered today! My living room will start to come together! I tested last night and I no longer have Covid but I still plan to wear a mask while the delivery guys are here ... I have been spraying my condo surfaces with Lysol for days so I think I've done all I can do ... I'm paying extra for them to bring everything to the correct spots and unwrap and take away the wrappings ... worth the price! I'll post photos later! This is what I posted on Facebook today: I finally have The Food Network again ... it didn't work at my old house because the cables underground were so old ... my fav channel! . "Chopped" is one of my fav shows and I haven't seen it in ages but I get to watch it again now! My mum is coming over to stand at the main door to let the delivery guys in this afternoon ... I'm not sure if she will go home for awhile and then come back for dinner or will just hang out all afternoon ... We will be eating a chicken Hello Fresh meal ... the last one before my new delivery tomorrow! I have to say that I really miss jeremysgirl here ... it's like a piece of our puzzle is missing ... I hope she is enjoying her hibernation. What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Today was day 2 of the great English Book Sale, and I was back at the hall from 12:30-nearly 4. Once again, many books and DVDs sold, and I could see at the end how many fewer boxes there were on the tables. It got a bit messy after the end with transporting the books back to our storage - we were told one thing by the sale organiser and another by the men with the transport van, so in the end we just did what the van guys said and left the books there and came home. After 6 hours yesterday and 3.5 today, I was just done and the mixed messages left me feeling a bit uggh.
DH has organized dinner for us tonight. We are having roast pork with crackling, roast potatoes and pumpkin and broccoli. It is cooking now and all smells delicious.

We attempted to go for a walk but it started raining. And it was very cold! We'll walk after the game. Dinner will be Lauren's Sausage Soup which I made yesterday.

leannec . I love Chopped and anything with Bobby Flay. Lol. Can’t wait to see what your new place looks like. I need to seriously be on the hunt for new furniture this spring. sueg What is crackling? Cold and rainy day here today although yesterday it rained so much we had quite a few creeks and roads flood. Not sure what’s for dinner I am yet fighting another head cold thanks to the lovely children at the daycare. I did test negative for Covid because I thought oh God no please. So I’m gonna stay hydrated today take some Tylenol hang out with the dog. I have some pictures I still have left to sort for my scrapbooking weekend that’s coming up on Friday.

Crackling is the skin of the pork scored and salted and cooked until it is really crispy. You possibly have another name for it.

christine58 What is crackling? From Google: What is crackling? What makes good crackling? Roast uncovered for the whole time (to keep the skin dry) Long and slow – Roast on a low first to slow-cook the flesh until tender, then high to finish the crackling. Keep the skin surface level by using scrunched up balls of foil. Because level surface = even high-heat distribution = better crackling What is crackling when cooking? Cracklings (USA), crackling (British English), also known as scratchings, are the solid material which remains after rendering animal fat and skin to produce lard, tallow, or schmaltz, or as the result of roasting meat.Roast uncovered for the whole time (to keep the skin dry) Long and slow – Roast on a low first to slow-cook the flesh until tender, then high to finish the crackling. Happy Saturday!
I am playing along with DD prep day. Really enjoying it so far. Watching Purdue play a horrible game as well.
It has turned cold and snowy. Thursday it was 74 degrees.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight. It just may be pizza.
Have a great day everyone!

Still on a soft diet.
Preparing deconstructed stuffed peppers for the young adults for tomorrow and banana bread for dessert. I have a pan of PC Mac & Cheese for those who don't like stuffed peppers or who only want the filling.
I cut the peppers in 4 lengthwise and then each quarter is cut into 3 sections. I mix up the colours of the peppers (red, orange & yellow) on the bottom of the pan. Then I put together the cooked ground beef mixed with rice, spicy tomato sauce, garlic & onions on top. Add a layer of spicy tomato sauce before cooking and then at the end of cooking, add shredded cheese. I bake this in the oven at 400F for 1 hour.
To soften the bell peppers, I cut and freeze them. When they thaw as they cook, they are the perfect texture. Making this dish in a deconstructive way makes it easier to serve.
Lettuce/Romaine is VERY expensive here ~~ $6.99 for a head of romaine ~~ insane. No salad for the group as I need 3 heads of romaine to feed this group. Cut veggies & dip again.

Hi Everyone, leannec Have fun getting your new furniture today! sueg I am sorry that you received the mixed messages. It is frustrating to be in your position to know what to do. cadoodlebug Your meme is cute. Your soup sounds tasty. christine58 Sorry that you got another head cold. quiltz I hope you are back to a normal diet soon. It’s great that you help out with cooking for the young adult group. Your food sounds so good. Today I have talked to a couple of friends, and I plan on doing some organizing this afternoon. DH went on a couple of accident calls. I want to make a chicken dish for dinner; but haven’t decided which one. It poured here all day yesterday and last night and the wind took a lot of trees and wires down. I hope all of you have a peaceful day!

We are getting our first snowfall of the season. It’s coming down heavily but it won’t stick to the ground.
DH and I did some shopping this morning and then dropped in to see SIL for a bit. She’s doing better but next week is her daughters birthday so that will be difficult for her. She’s making a trip to the cemetery and I’ve offered to go with her but not sure if she wants to go by herself.
Supper tonight will be grilled steak. DH is hoping it stops snowing by the time it’s time to go outside and barbeque.

We're home. I might actually do a Cricut tutorial this afternoon or I"ll just sit at my puzzle. I finished one puzzle and started a fun one at Mil's house. Now I have to get back into the groove of the puzzle that I'm doing up here. It's great brain therapy. Dinner is rechauffe for dh. Ods is here, but he's leaving soon. Next week everyone will home and I'll be in my happy place. Enjoy today, my lovelies.

Hello, you all. Sorry I’ve been so flaky. Chaos is my life story these days. For dinner, I think I’ll bake a potato and stuff it with broccoli, bacon, cheese, and green onions. I have some leftover broccoli, and I just cooked a package of bacon that has been hanging around in my fridge for too long already. Tomorrow my son is hosting his Thanksgiving dinner (because they’ll be on a cruise over Thanksgiving), so I’ll be cooking a little for that, and then picking up my mom for dinner. The 13yo is at his dad’s for now, but he’ll be here for school at least on Monday. May start the new school on Tuesday, we’ll see. I’m adjusting mentally to the situation, and it’s really okay. Honestly, I could use a break. We’ll see how it goes. sueg, your dinner sounds so delish. leannec, now I want a new sofa. Actually, I was just looking at some online. But I think I need to clean out some of the hoarding going on here before I think about furniture. christine58, holy moly, I hope it’s just a cold and you get rid of it fast. You need to be healthy for your crop next week!

lucyg I think it’s just a cold I don’t feel any worse and my right ear has stopped hurting so I guess that’s a good thing. I’m glad you’re OK with the change within your household but I’m sure it’s gonna be hard once he leaves

This day hasn't gone quite as expected, but it's been good. I picked up some new (warmer) workout/walking clothes so I can go back to early mornings because I feel like I lose half the day waiting for it to warm up enough to get away with wearing what I had. Stopped by Trader Joe's on the way back from my walk just to pick up eggs (seriously always the best price) and cauliflower (why is it so expensive right now? I refused to pay $5 at my other regular store). So glad I stopped because I got the eggs and a big bag of holiday of chocolates, hot chocolate bombs and snack mixes that is now hiding in the guest room. DH heard me griping about the cauliflower and called from the another store to say he found it for under $2, so came home with two heads. Two of the saddest, on the cusp of not being edible, cauliflower I have ever seen. There is no way it could wait for a couple days as planned, so it is now cleaned, trimmed and roasting for a salad. The only other cooking tonight will be roasting prosciutto wrapped asparagus and heating a baguette for a charcuterie/appetizer board.

Hi friends! We had an early morning annual appointment for Bess this morning. She's healthy as always. Lost a little weight, but lord knows that cat loves her food. We also got bloodwork done since she's getting a little older. DH made friends with the sweetest Bernese Mountain dog while we were waiting for Bess. There was a couple who rushed in with their cat while we were waiting as well and it was obvious the cat was not going to make it. I just felt so bad for them because they were so distraught. It didn't sound good. Dinner tonight was steak and asparagus. We used the dutch oven to make the steak, and then added butter to make the asparagus in the fond/butter mix. SO. GOOD. (The steak was kept warm in the oven while we made the asparagus.) Hope you all have a great Saturday!

quiltz that is a genius hack for softening peppers! We had a Mexican dinner at church for lunch, and we're both still stuffed. We're settling in for college football on tv, and we'll crisp up chicken legs from Costco, and have with quinoa salad (also Costco) and potato salad.

I've come down to mum's house for the weekend. She had worked a full day and didn't feel like cooking (understandably!) so we just got pizza. I am now eating rechauffed pizza for my Sunday lunch!

lucyg, you've been in my thoughts. You are amongst friends here. ((((HUGS))). I hope that your dgs will thrive at his new school and that you'll enjoy your time off. AussieMeg, it's wonderful to see you here. rymeswithpurple, I just cannot fathom any situation where a cat loses weight. My cats eat and sleep and then eat some more. Both are a healthy weight, but weight loss and cats are a foreign concept in this house. I have snarf 1 and snarf 2.

scrapmaven It seemed odd to us as well. She's always around 9 1/2 lbs., hit 10 last year, and she's around 9 1/2 again now. But she lets me know when it's breakfast and dinner time. She gets wet and dry, and the occasional smattering of treats. I think I would be worried if she wasn't eating and losing weight, but she loves her food. We'll also get the blood work results around Tuesday.
