Hi everyone! I'm starting the thread early today because I will be meeting my mum for breakfast soon ... it's a weekly thing now ... but I forgot about it this morning and already ate! . So I'll just have some toast and coffee. I need to grab a few groceries after breakfast and then wait for my Hello Fresh and Inspired Go deliveries ... I also sold my 5 foot Christmas tree on Facebook Marketplace so the girl is coming by to pick that up ... I need to do some marking too. This is what I posted on Facebook this morning ... it is very true of me and my shopping habits Dinner tonight will be something from my Hello Fresh box ... no idea what! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Enjoying being with your mom leannecJust getting up and going to take Toby out for a potty break and get breakfast going for him, ds, and myself. Sending dh out to run some errands for me. This cold air is doing a number on my 2 knees - left has a full complete ACL tear with PCL and LCL issues and right has meniscus tear and MCL issues. Genetic testing confirmed hEDS and surgery is not recommended. So...yeah. Going to put away fall decor and dust and vacuum. Tomorrow we start putting up Christmas!! Excited to decorate. Dinner is garden salads. Yum! Need to make my ranch dressing with my vegan mayo. Egg allergy has been the hardest for me out of all my food allergies.

Enjoy breakfast with your mum leannec. It is one of the great sorrows of my life that my mum died so young and that I never grew to have an adult relationship with her. This morning we spoke with DS2, about where he is with his apartment search and mortgage inquiries. In order to buy, he will need help from us with a deposit, so DH sent him off to do a bit more homework on his figures and get back to him. DS has looked online at a few apartments in his area, and says there are some nice places available in what looks to be his budget. He also wants to speak to his current landlord, as buying his current apartment is a possibility and would mean he doesn’t have to move. Then was church and home for lunch. Since then, I have been out for a walk - shorter today as it started raining not long after I left home - and DH has headed into work to get ready for the week - after two weeks away, he needs to be sure there is nothing he doesn’t know about before he gets in tomorrow. Dinner tonight is Spanish lentils. DH made it yesterday and we will just need to heat them up and slice the crusty bread he bought from the bakery this morning.

Good morning!
I just got home for grocery shopping and don’t plan to leave the house again today. The kids (grown adults and the almost 7 year old) are going out to run errands so it will be quiet here for a few hours. I’m working on a plan to rearrange my bedroom to make it work better for scrapbooking. I’m one of those people who never rearrange furniture once I find an arrangement that works so, after 6 years, this will be a big change!
Dinner is grilled steak tips, smashed potatoes and a salad. I also bought a cheesecake for dessert. My diet has been horrible since I went away. I’ll get back on track after Thanksgiving.

I ended up getting Chinese yesterday and there are plenty left for today. I started doing free-motion quilting today on my new machine. Learning a new skill is fun! No new snow today but it still looks pretty outside. leannec ~~ My version is that I have purchased more quilting things and spent more money on my hobbies than on actual gifts for anyone else.

DS made it here safely yesterday ~ I always breath a sigh of relief because there are some crazies out there on the freeway! Tonight we will have Tacos/Taco Salad for dinner. It's one of DS's favorites so we only have it when he's here. This is the mini-photo friendship book I was telling you about. It folds to about 4.5" x 4.5" but opens in accordion-style to reveal all the photos.

City Chicken has always been one of my favorite meals. Recipe? 1 to 1-1/2 lbs pork stew 1 to 1-1/2 lbs veal stew 1/3 to 1/2 c Italian seasoned bread crumbs 1/3 to 1/2 c all purpose flour 1-2 eggs, slightly beaten 2-3 T milk 1 - 2 beef boullion cubes 12-15 Short skewers (they look to be about 5 inches) Cut meat further so pieces are approx the same size and there are equal amounts of each. Alternate meats on skewers- usually about 3 pieces of each per skewer. Combime flour and breadcrumbs in one bowl, combine egg and milk in a second bowl. Dip skewers in egg mixture, then breadcrumb mixture. Brown all skewers slowly in hot oil, turning so all sides are browned. Dissolve boullion cubes in 1 to 1-1/2 c water, then add to meat. Cover tightly and simmer at least one hour, until tender. Serve liquid as gravy. (Can also cover and bake at 350 for an hour- Ibe never done this, but it is more traditional, I think). If you were to buy premade skewers, they would likely contain only pork, due to the cost of veal. I like them better with veal, so I make my own.

Dinner will be pork chops which I have defrosted and seasoned, Brussels sprouts with pancetta and balsamic reduction, and probably apple sauce and potato.
Yesterday I came up with a design for the Cards to send to family and friends, they are done except for a bow. Today I think I will write out the cards for the swap, they are all set just need to sign them, envelopes are addressed and stamped!!

So, just to clarify, there is no chicken in the City Chicken? It feels like there is a story behind the name. Thanks for sharing, I know my guys would love this. I'm behind schedule, but wanted to time my walk with a small Christmas market where one of DS's favorite clothing stores will be participating so I can grab something for either his birthday or Christmas. Then I'll get the final things I need for Thanksgiving and other meals next week before heading back to work on Christmas cards while watching football. Chicken Tortilla soup is the dinner plan.

Happy Sunday!
Got up early and went to the grocery store. Was hoping to get there it was super busy. That didn’t happen…Hopefully I won’t need to go again before Thanksgiving.
DH and I have been cleaning house since I got home. DS and his family were supposed to close on their new house Friday. It had to be moved to one day this week. I was really hoping they would be gone and I could do a deep clean before my parents arrive tomorrow. It’s going to be a little crowded around here for a few days.
Dinner is going to be ham and scalloped potatoes.

Hey all - been a busy weekend! Chicken enchiladas for dinner tonight. I'm supposed to be doing some holiday decorating this weekend, but still trying to catch up on some paperwork so I can relax while the kids are in town - maybe I'll just make them decorate! I did manage to fight the crowds to the grocery store so I could stock up for kids and thanksgiving. It's amazing how much more two teens eat!

Good morning. Have a nice breakfast w/your mum, leannec. Your meme resonates w/me. KelleeM, re-arranging your bedroom will help you to feel like you're in a new space. Sil and I abandoned a girl's trip in order to help mil. I'm exhausted, anyway. Sil and I have been attacking a puzzle. Dinner is one of ods's faves: PW's chicken nuggets and I'll make shoestring potatoes and roasted broccoli.

KelleeM , re-arranging your bedroom will help you to feel like you're in a new space. Thank you for saying that. I keep rethinking my plan because I have a lot of stuff to move around. I even made a 1” to 1’ scale cutout of the room and all of the furniture. Ds has offered his help to get this done next weekend. I think I need to feel like I’m in a new space!

I tried a new recipe: Vietnamese Coconut Caramel Chicken. I also made our favourite rice, Thai Chilli and Basil Fried Rice (minus the prawns). I think it's time to buy a new non stick frypan, because the sauce stuck to the pan and a lot of it got burnt, so there wasn't much to spoon over the chicken. It was still nice though. cadoodlebug I am currently sorting through all my old photos, most of which are in three drawers in my study (which used to be my scrap room). I found an accordion album that I made about 15 years ago. It's just like the one you posted. I also remember making one for a colleague when his first grandchild was born. They were so fun to make! A head of iceberg letuce is $5 right now, so I wont be making taco salad any time soon! Ugh, that sucks! Earlier this year they got up to about $12 here!! Needless to say, I didn't make any salads at that time either. I did my grocery shopping yesterday and was happy to see that they were only about $3.

Home from my weekend crop. Roads sucked for part of the way home. Just watched the Bills WIN!! WOOHOOO...Lots of great stories coming out of the Buffalo area about neighbors helping each other out during this record storm. Players were dug out by their neighbors, others helped dig out a car that the carport collapsed on prohibiting a woman from getting her DH's dialysis meds etc out of, some power outages but nothing major.

As you may know, I have a subscription to a gourmet salad delivery service ... I take a salad to work every day ... I was afraid that the prices were going to increase substantially because of the lettuce situation in the world ... nope! Inspired Go has their own massive greenhouse that grows their lettuces all year long and we won't be dinged at all! . The way they grow theirs uses a fraction of the water of traditional growing ... it's amazing.

Apparently Wendy's only uses greens grown hydroponically in Canada. There is a better control of bugs and no issues with e-coli. I live where there are a lot of greenhouses and getting fresh tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and cucumbers all year long.

Did some grocery shopping today and purposely didn’t buy lettuce because it was $5.49 a head. Crazy!
We’ve been very lucky here and managed to avoid all the snow that many other parts of Ontario are dealing with.
Our educational support staff was to go on strike tomorrow but have reached a tentative agreement. That means school tomorrow for the grand boys! Their parents are very happy.
Supper tonight was pork roast, potatoes, turnip and salad.

Im making City Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and corn for dinner tonight. City Chicken has always been one of my favorite meals. My most hated meal as a kid and I will never ever make it or eat it again. So funny how different people’s tastes are. I’m still tired from my trip and trying to get thanksgiving food prepped. Dh is at the cabin getting stuff ready for a contractor so no cooking. I had cottage cheese & pineapple. stormsts I made the mistake of going to Trader Joe’s mid-morning. It was so crowded you couldn’t even go down the aisles. One thing I liked during Covid was the restriction of people in small stores. We didn’t even get to browse for new items.

I made the mistake of going to Trader Joe’s mid-morning. It was so crowded you couldn’t even go down the aisles. I was talking with the cashier about how there were a lot of non-regulars in there today because the regulars follow a definite route through the store. The non-regulars were creating chaos and traffic jams. DH planned to stop at Costco and did one swing through the parking lot before driving away.
