Extremely sad news. Very beautiful especially her eyes and such a very talented actress with a fiery spirit. I really loved her acting in the miniseries North and South.

I’m guessing that since her cult is against medical intervention she didn’t get treatment soon enough, if any.

That was going to be my question too. Does Scientology allow people to seek cancer treatment? They did say this was a very sudden diagnosis, so either she ignored the signs or didn't seek treatment until it was too late. I seem to recall that when Kelly Preston died of cancer (also far too young) that it seemed as though she didn't seek treatment fast enough
The whole thing is very sad, and very shocking. I'm sorry for her family and her children. And so close to christmas.

I was shocked to see this on the news this morning. I had no idea she was unwell.
She acted in many movies and tv shows that I enjoyed while growing up.
RIP.

Didn't she fall hard into the trump cult?
Either way, it's sad and shocking to find out she passed so suddenly.

While I didn't agree with her political or religious views, I loved her so much. I was so sad to hear the news this morning. She was a beautiful person, seemed so fun loving. The first thing I saw her in was "North and South" and I have liked everything she was in. How sad for her family.

I just lost a friend who had chronic pancreatitis, and when he went to the hospital for a flare up they diagnosed him with pancreatic cancer. He died three weeks later. It was very sad and unexpected. I'd hate to think people were blaming him. He'd had plenty of workups and tests over the years and didn't ignore his condition. Sometimes it's just a fast growing cancer. I really enjoyed the characters she played over the years, she was a very talented and funny actor.

I don't know if this is true or not but Yashar Ali tweeted yesterday that Scientology guarantees, in writing, that if you reach the upper levels of the religion, you will not get cancer. He then pointed out that both Kelly Preston and now Kirstie Alley died from cancer in the last few years. He also said that despite everything she did for the organization, David Miscavige strongly disliked Kirstie Alley. I feel sad about the loss to her friends and family but am otherwise neutral. My favorite role she played was Lt. Saavik. Her social and political commentary over the last few years was grotesque.

My guess is that there were signs and she ignored them probably believing Xenu would "heal" her. She may have been in the hospital but it's highly unlikely that she had any colon cancer treatment...unless a vitamin IV is considered treatment.
