Someone I know just had a baby boy and named him Mabon. I want to pronounce it correctly, so do you think it is....
May Bon?
May Ben?
Something else?

I’ve never seen the word before but Mah-bon was my instinct.

My instinct would be to rhyme it with the county Gabon.

I think I’m a little slaphappy… my gut reaction was “I don’t”! My further instinct/first guess would be May-ben.

As a teacher, Mabon is a name that would trip me up ... male or female for one thing! Just like I answered in another thread a couple of weeks ago ... Mubaligh gave me grief this year but I'm good now!

I've never heard that name before. I would guess May-ben but would probably try to wait for them to say the name first.

This is a former student’s last name. She pronounced it May-bon.

I would have thought ma-BONE, and I guess I'd be wrong. I'd just ask.

Mah bon. It's the pagan festival that celebrates the autumn equinox.
