Because the plot changes and it gets too sad/triggering/scary/plot goes south?
I'm like that with Titanic. I can only watch up until the iceberg hit. Then it all goes downhill from there. I love Jack and Rose's love story (and her costumes) and the gorgeous sets. But after that I turn it off.
I just realized I did that the other day with Atonement. I only watch to see that gorgeous green gown that Keira Knightly wears and then at the point of the accusation I have to change it. That movie was just too freaking depressing to ever watch again all the way through.

The newest version of A Star is Born. I love it and I've watched it all the way through many times but now I usually just watch it until Ally sings "I'll always remember us this way" and then check out on the sadness that follows!
And sometimes I will just fast forward to the ending of An Officer and A Gentleman and watch Richard Gere walk in and sweep Debra Winger off her feet lol. Probably my favorite ending ever.

Steel Magnolias. Lost my sister to Type 1 Diabetes. Love the movie but shut off when she goes home for Halloween. Don't need to see it again.

I adore “it’s a Wonderful Life” but I can’t watch it at all! I have an anxiety reaction to yelling. I couldn’t figure out what was making me anxious while watching a movie I loved until I realized lots of Jimmy Stewart’s lines seems like he’s yelling. I’m 100% sure I’m the only person affected negatively by the dialogue in this movie, so that probably only makes sense to me.

Ugh. Marley and Me is a killer, and I def end it before it ends.
I remember my daughter used to love ET and watched it over and over but would WAIL at the end when he returns home. “I’m missing ET….”

But I actually detest the movie because of the yelling and overwroughtness (is that a word?) of Jimmy Stewart. NOT the vibe I want in a Christmas movie. And yelling makes me very anxious, too.

ELF! I think Ed Asner is the worst Santa ever and tolerate him in the beginning, but once he lands in Central Park I stop watching. I hate the whole black rangers (or whatever they’re called) part of the story and seeing “Santa” is just too much. I always say ‘let’s watch 3/4 of Elf!’ whenever my youngest is home.

This is actually comforting knowing I’m not the only one who feels this way.
