Hi everyone! I'm posting early because I'm driving out to take my mum some groceries and go for breakfast with her ... she is having a severe case of cabin fever! After that, I will just come home and wait for my two food deliveries and whatever else I've ordered from Amazon etc. I have to stop buying Christmas gifts ... must do an inventory of what I've got today. One more post of another decor piece in my condo ... I got this cute sign made for my laundry room: Dinner tonight will be something from Hello Fresh ... not sure what! I'm hoping those feeling crummy are feeling a bit better today! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Hi leannec. I like your sign. I have a sign in my kitchen that says let your freak flag fly. I think I paid $5 for it and it's been following me around in 4 houses now. We baked cookies yesterday. We didn't really get many pictures. No one seemed in the mood for picture taking really. It was fun but you could tell everyone wasn't quite as merry as normal. I guess Esther's death has put a damper on everyone's holidays. Or maybe it was just me looking at things through my own lens. I don't know. Chloe and I are going this afternoon to see the Lansing Symphony Orchestra's holiday concert. This is the very thing that I've been looking forward to the most this holiday season. What I cook for dinner will be determined by how tired I am when I get home. I've got some Home Chef meals.

I am so full from the party last night ~~~ roast beef with yorkshire, scalloped potatoes, hot german potato salad, mashed potatoes, chicken casserole, pizza, lasagna, sweet & sour meatballs, salad, fresh veggie, cheese & cold cut tray w crackers, cranberry jello salad (delicious!), cheesecake, M&M's Too Tall Cake, Christmas cookies, chocolates plus munchies! Everyone took home a plate as there was so much food. Sleety day outside so I shall sew on my quilt, "Can't see the forest for all the trees" quilt. (Piecemaker's Pattern). leannec ~ enjoy breakfast jeremysgirl ~ the 1st Christmas is hard and awkward, glad that you got some baking done.

Hi Everyone, leannec Your sign is very cute. Your mum is so lucky to have you be there for her. jeremysgirl I think what you are seeing is your family missing your special Esther. I hope all of you like and eat all of the cookies that you baked and I hope you enjoy the Symphony today with Chloe. Hugs to you! quiltz My mouth drooled when I read your list of foods. I slept in rather than going to church today. There is supposed to be a winter mix happening this am and I didnāt want to have to contend with it. Today my DH is attending his uncleās funeral. The boys and I are finally going to decorate the tree and put up my village. Hopefully I will also begin decorating the kitchen; but it probably wonāt be until tomorrow. Dinner is either going to be Mexican takeout or rechauffe. I hope everyone has a peaceful day.

Another day of rain. Today I don't mind because I need to work on my Christmas cards and wrap presents. They're saying we'll probably get over 5 feet of snow up at Tahoe. I'm surprised it's not more. The party we went to last night was awesome. She had so much wonderful food and had some things I could eat. I think the rain kept some people away but we saw people we hadn't seen in a few years because of Covid. We didn't get home until about 10:45 so that tells me it was a success since I'm usually in bed reading by 9:45-10. I think dinner will be Chicken Tortilla Soup. Love the sign leannec . Here's mine which tells how I feel about laundry!

leannec , I love the style of your home and that sign is perfect. quiltz , I wish I could raid your to-go box. Sounds delicious. destined2bmom , I'm sorry to hear about dh's uncle. May his memory be for a blessing to all who knew him. I'll bet your going to have a very merry kitchen after it's all decorated. jeremysgirl , I'm guessing that everyone is sad and was just doing what they could to get through the day and make it fun. I'm very glad that you have the symphony today. Enjoy the moment. This season, just take the good moments in steps and during the hard moments remember that you are surrounded by people who love and care about you.
Delta Dawn , have fun finding a baby gift. Baby stuff is so cute and it's so much fun to shop. Mil was in a major rally and very agitated the past 2 days. It was a bit overwhelming. This is a stage in the process and we gave her a sedative to help her sleep last night. Thank goodness for the wonderful caregivers who are here 24/7 in order to help all of us handle this correctly. The hospice nurses who check on her each day are marvelous. I would be lying if I said that it's not a lot overwhelming. Ya'll know that I don't give into pity parties. So, we're using our wicked senses of humor to get through this stuff. Seriously, I need a spa month! Tmw am I will be calling my acupuncturist's office manager and begging for appts for both sil and myself. Enjoy today, my lovelies.

Here I am laying on the bed reading. Funny how I often think about how great it would be just to lay around and read all day. And now when Iām actually doing it, I think about everything else that I should be doing!
Iām feeling much better. I did another test this morning and itās still positive. I realize that I could test positive for a long time but I really want that little stick to say negative. Iād feel so much better about non isolating. Iām going to lay low for another couple of days before I come out of hiding.
Been thinking about putting the Christmas tree up but just canāt seem to find the energy to do it.
Not sure about supper yet.

I need to vacuum because I have lost a ton of hair. Itās all overall my clean clothes, the floor, the chairs. I donāt get it. I barely have enough for a ponytail. I suspect itās from COVID last week.
I am still thinking about lunch. Maybe another bagel would work. I am very lazy today. I need to go get groceries and even that is difficult.

Dinner tonight will be homemade chicken cordon bleu with bacon instead of ham. That sounds like a perfect idea to me. I got the recipe from IG and itās keto but works for most people. My dad really likes it a lot. Yay!

I made a lasagne for dinner. Then DD rang at the last minute to say she was going to be home for dinner. She doesn't eat red meat, so I decided to try out a new recipe for her and I: Creamy Butternut Pumpkin Udon Noodles. It was nice, but next time I will not put as much miso in, as it was too overpowering (and I say that as someone who LOVES miso). Actually come to think of it, it was probably because I used red miso instead of white miso. š¤ Duh!

I tend to use more white miso, but it just so happened that the red miso was already opened so I used that. I should have halved the amount for this recipe.

I am not sure about what DSā preference is but I suspect white is his preference, too. I love miso eggplant (aubergjne) with a passion. I donāt make it anymore because father doesnāt care for Japanese food much but I love it!

Good morning all.
Yesterday was our precious Luciaās baptism. It was such a long day - we were at the church hall just after 9 to finish setting up, Mass was at 11, then we had lunch at the hall, cleaned up, took everything back to DSās house and finally weāre back at our apartment at 5pm, totally wiped out.
It was a lovely day though. Lucia was so good, and only cried a little bit when the water was poured on her head - sheād just woken up, so I think it was a bit of a shock. This time, I made sure to get people to take some photos of me with her and also with Sophia - I didnāt get any of Sophiaās baptism except family shots. The food was great. To start we just had charcuterie plates and dips, then the main meal was paella - DS hired a company who comes to your venue, sets up gas fired paella pans, then cooks and serves it. We had 3 huge pans - seafood, vegetarian and chicken/chorizo. Dessert was cake and cookie platters. I will post some photos in a bit, once I have them all on my iPad. Today I am going out shopping and for lunch with my sister. DS2 is working from home, which means working from the apartment we are in, so I thought Iād get out of his way!

That beautiful Christening gown has made me pull out mine! ( sueg) I have been schlepping this around my entire life ... it was white in 1967! I was baptized Anglican but I am no longer religious and my dd's were never Christened so did not wear it ... it hangs in the closet ... for what reason I don't know but I will keep it.
