I am looking for some inspiration - what is on the menu for the holidays (we celebrate Christmas)? So far, I have prime rib, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese. For breakfast I do a biscuit, egg, sausage and cheese casserole and Rhodes overnight cinnamon rolls (more like monkey bread). Hoping for some new dishes to add to my holidays

It's summer here, so cold seafood is always on the menu. My MIL is doing the seafood, so I'm not sure exactly what it will be. She usually does prawns, lobster, smoked salmon.
I will be doing a slow cooked lamb, and maybe a pork belly. And because others have insisted, a (store-bought pre-cooked) turkey breast. I bought one that is stuffed with cranberries and pistachios. We will also have cold ham, pumpkin and beetroot salad, crispy roast potatoes and pumpkin, broccolini. I haven't decided what else yet.

My family has a potluck meal for all of the holidays. On Christmas Eve after church, we have some type of soup & bread and nibble on cookies (my mom bakes dozens & dozens of Christmas cookies every year to keep & to give away) and homemade Chex Mix. Christmas dinner is ham, mashed potatoes (although this year my partner is making his version of gratin dauphinois instead), sweet potatoes, a family recipe that's a combination of Jell-o & mayo & Cool Whip & fruit that no one outside the family has ever heard of, broccoli-cheese casserole, corn casserole, rolls, and pumpkin pie.

I want to spend Christmas in Australia! It's warm. You get to have seafood. I was just writing out my menus and doing my grocery order. Nothing special here. I think we are going to have chicken on Christmas day - one of my easy recipes with a sauce, rice and cooked carrots. I baked for a party last week so we consumed our fun calories early this year.

There’s a shortage of turkeys, ducks etc Thai year in the UK due to bird flu and those that are available are probably more expensive so we’ve decided to do a Beef Wellington. We’ll have seafood platter as a started but it won’t be a patch of yours in the sun I’m sure AussieMeg

We've been doing a taco bar/Mexican for several years. It's easy and everyone loves it. We will have tacos, tostadas, plenty of flour tortillas, two kinds of queso and chips, a copycat Chuy's creamy jalapeno dip, pico and guacamole. And tamales.

Giordano's deep dish pizza, shipped frozen via Fed Ex from Chicago. It's been a tradition ever since we left the Midwest.

On Christmas Day we will have ham, fresh green beans, fruit salad, dressing, rolls and a cherry pie...perhaps a second pie.
Usually on Christmas Eve, we attend church and then come home to snacks of chip/dip etc.
We don't plan to attend Church that day.

There are only 5 of us and 3 of them have dietary needs. That makes figuring out a menu difficult. I was going to do breakfast for dinner but that didn't really appeal to me. I've ordered fish (cod) and garlic shrimp from Schwans and they will be delivered on Thursday. Also serving broccoli, basmati rice, those Cheddar Bay biscuits that Red Lobster sells (found in the frozen food section at the grocery store), and macaroni and cheese.

Christmas Eve - we normally do appetizers. But, this year I bought a table top raclette grill thing, so we are making table top fajitas on the grill. Shrimp, chicken and tofu with veggies, cheese, sour cream salsa and guacamole.
Christmas Breakfast/Brunch - an egg/hash brown dish, Monkey bread and fresh fruit
Dinner - Prime rib with prime rib gravy, twice baked potatoes, roasted asparagus, arugula salad and dinner rolls. Not sure about dessert...my daughter covers that.

I'm about to embark on a three-day cooking extravaganza.
My brother and SIL are passing through here on the 23rd on their way to her family in San Antonio. We're going to have them here overnight. I'm making chili and chicken and dumplings, cornbread, veggie tray, and dessert TBD. Before they leave Saturday morning I'll be making breakfast tacos.
We're doing our family dinner Christmas Eve. Brisket, mac and cheese, some kind of green vegetable. Christmas cookies. Earlier in the day I'll put out a big charcuterie board for us to pick at while we do a puzzle and hang out.
Christmas morning I'm going to do a breakfast/brunch board with sliced ham and cheese, deviled eggs, cranberry bread, biscuits, and several kinds of fruit. Maybe also yogurt and homemade granola.
Christmas night I made reservations at a Nepalese restaurant because why not.

Already picked up the tamales from a local Mexican restaurant for Christmas Eve. We get them frozen and steam them ourselves. We will have rice and beans and all of the toppings guacamole, salsa, sour cream etc.
Christmas dinner will be prime rib with hasselback potatoes and roasted asparagus.

My daughters and my youngest daughter's boyfriend will be here on Christmas day. My daughter asked me to make potato soup, so I am making that with some homemade bread. The girls are in charge of snacks and appetizers, and we will play games and watch Christmas movies. Low key, but that is kind of what I need right now. A couple of years ago, I made this delicious cinnamon star bread for breakfast. I am going to make something similar but savory to go with our soup. I'm thinking of trying this one: mamaneedscake.com/cheesy-garlic-and-herb-star-bread/

We always have a party to go to for Christmas Eve so no worries about that. I'm still kind of pining that DS is spending more time with his GF's family (Christmas Eve and part of Christmas) so we're toying with unconventional menus like dim sum or just noshy food on Christmas. I've been a baking fool this week so it will be nice to get out of the kitchen. DS and DH just really want to eat candy anyway.

My mother in law is ordering Chinese (her Chinese restaurant is not good 🤢) for Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Day, I am making manicotti, salad, and rolls. (Im not making the rolls from scratch, but we will have rolls!). I realized after Thanksgiving that I am tired of having the same holiday meals on repeat, so I decided on manicotti for Christmas.

It's typically just DW and myself for the holidays. For christmas eve we're having a " Mermaids" dinner of different appetizers. Some puff pastries with savory fillings, stuffed jalapeños and saucy meatballs. If I can get to Trader Joe's before the weekend I'll pick up a box of the camembert & cranberry fillo bites to include with it. For christmas brunch I'm leaning towards making an overnight french toast bake & scrambled eggs. For christmas dinner I'm making prime rib with mashed potatoes, au gratin broccoli & cauliflower and maybe roasted brussels sprouts. I have some frozen pie crust so I'd like to make a pie for dessert. Both of my thanksgiving pies turned out horribly, so I want to redeem myself. Our tradition for new years eve dinner is cheese fondue with a variety of dippers. I look forward to it every year.

On Christmas Eve we are having our traditional 2Peas Burning Feather's Italian Beef served with sautéed peppers and onions and mozzarella cheese on rolls and twice baked potatoes with an obscene amount of cheese.
Christmas Morning will be my new sausage ball recipe that was such a hit at Thanksgiving and and a coffee cake that is an old family recipe.
Christmas day instead of our traditional grazing on leftovers we are having lasagna to remember MIL who passed in 2019.
She always came over on Christmas afternoon and brought a huge pan of lasagna that we would have on the 26th.
We want to spend as little time in the kitchen on Christmas day as possible. Growing up I saw my Mom never getting to relax and enjoy the day because she was in the kitchen fixing a huge turkey dinner with all of the sides.
I vowed I would spend my Christmas day playing with my kids and their toys, or now since they are older, playing with my own toys!

I'm still undecided on Christmas eve. None of us are able to eat the same food. I'm thinking apps of some kind. Tomorrow is the day I have to figure it out and get them bought since we're expecting a ton of snow.
Christmas Day is monkey bread, sausage, eggs, and hash browns for breakfast. For dinner, roast with baked potatoes. I'm going to try my hand at Yorkshire pudding, too.

We are low key immediate family only holiday people. I also don’t want to spend a bunch of time cooking- I want to hang out with my family so we always do:
Christmas Eve late lunch: steaks, potatoes, corn, rolls Then Christmas Eve dinner after our church service is appetizers
Christmas Day we have brunch with fruit, a cottage potato dish, and cinnamon rolls
Dinner is make your own pizzas.

Christmas Eve - Brisket from our favorite barbecue place and I’m throwing some potatoes in the oven. We’ll have baked potatoes with all the fixings, green beans and dinner rolls. Strawberry Pretzel for dessert. It’s that one with the pretzel crust, cream cheese sugar layer and strawberry jello mixture on top.
Christmas morning - Egg Ham Croissant Bake, cinnamon rolls and fresh squeezed orange juice, very possible mimosas if we any Prosecco leftover from the night before.
The rest of Christmas Day - tamales, Hickory Farms sausage, cheese and crackers. Leftover brisket and potatoes from the night before. I also have the ingredients to make beef stew in the crockpot since it’s going to be so cold here that day and it’s one of my husband’s favorite things to eat when it’s cold.

Christmas Eve - whatever restaurant we can find open (it's just me, DH and DD). Christmas morning - clone of a cinnabon rolls (every year I pray my bread machine will work since I only use it once a year) Christmas day - funeral sandwiches (ham and cheese and turkey and cheese on king hawaiian rolls with sauce), potatoes, bacon wrapped chestnuts and whatever else we find leftover at my sister's house from her Christmas eve.
