Omg I can't believe it. He was such a great guy. Saturday's game/celebration will be tough to watch now. 💔💔💔

So sad. And only a couple of days before the big anniversary celebration and the retirement of his jersey. An amazing person and great for the Pittsburgh area.

It was the first thing I saw when I woke up this morning and I gasped and that woke up my husband. He did so many wonderful things - for the organization, for the city, for Penn State and beyond. It was too soon to lose him but for it to happen right before this weekend's celebrations? Heartbreaking.

So sad that this happened right before the 50th anniversary of the immaculate reception and the retiring of his jersey. Rest in peace Franco.

This was a bit shocking to hear, especially at this time and with the immaculate reception anniversary. Not a Steeler fan but I have always been a Franco Harris fan. So sad, especially for his family and friends.

I’m sorry to learn of his passing. The timing is so sad.
I remember hearing my brother screaming at the television fifty years’ ago and going in the room just in time to watch the replays.

DH was a fan. DH said that the Steelers will now be even more pumped for the Xmas eve game against the Raiders and that's DH's team.

I'm a Bills fan but always thought that Franco was a legend. May he rest in peace.

I have no idea who this is.... Go to YouTube and search "the immaculate reception". Coming up is the 50th anniversary of that game, and they were going to retire Harris' number. It was going to be such a joyous celebration. They'll still retire his number but wow what a change of mood for the entire city.

Franco Harris helped make the NFL, The NFL. Football wasn’t America’s game, baseball was still king. Then came Franco Harris, the Immaculate Reception and those dominating Steelers teams. So sad to see he was giving interviews just yesterday. An absolute legend gone to soon

My folks were from the Pittsburgh area so, even though we moved a lot because of the Navy, my dad was always a big fan. I was very sad to hear the news because I remember the day of the immaculate reception.
