I wear masks on planes, trains, ubers and crowded venues like the theatre.
When we flew home from Disney, this lady next to me had the same crumpled up tissue she kept blowing giant wads into and coughing like she was going to lose a lung. I offered her a pack of tissues and she turned me down. The lady on the other side asked for her contact info in case the mortuary needed to contact trace, lol, but gross.

Have always avoided crowded popular events and places including concerts, theater, Disney/Universal and malls.
There are plenty of cool plays, concerts and interesting places offered off the beaten track. Hate crowds and lines and never feel like I am missing out these types of experiences.

She is the one who should have been wearing a mask! The other day I was leaving a store. Just as I was stepping outside I started to take my mask off. But, the lady I was behind started coughing badly, so I left my mask on until I got to my car. 😆

I've been to the Mall exactly once, and that was to put right the mistake I made in attempting to order gift cards for godsons and ending up with voucher codes that couldn't be redeemed in the only store they wanted to go to. I didn't wear a mask but I should have done.
I'm getting grumpy in my old age. HATE crowds and queues. HATE traffic. Actually I've gone right off most of the human race at the moment.

Nope though for the safety of everyone else I should probably wear a sandwich board that says “exposed to every germ, approach at your own risk”. Every sick kid (and many well ones) come to my desk and man have there been a lot this month. Way more influenza A, strep and stomach bugs than anything else.

Yes, I mask up - I had a long-planned trip last weekend, I need to be well for Christmas services, and I'm going to visit my family afterward. I didn't want to miss any of those things... and we had LOTS of covid cases at school. There were also flu cases, and I don't want that, either! Two of my closest friends have had covid in the last couple of days.
I never stopped masking on subways or in stores, but I had stopped at school because I need the students to see my mouth(!) and our numbers were good for a long time. The last couple of weeks of school, I did mask up except for performances.

I'm back in a mask for the foreseeable future. I'm just getting over a fairly mild case of covid (thank you, vaccines) but I'll be damned if I'm going to get this again.

Not really. I flew half way around the world two weeks ago to be here for a couple of family events and Christmas. We’ve done the baptism (10 days ago) and the wedding (yesterday). I know we had two confirmed cases in the days after the baptism, but I tested everyday for a week and stayed negative. I have gone to shopping malls and the cinema as well, though the cinema doesn’t count as crowded as there were less than a dozen of us in a full sized theatre. Christmas Day will be with family - just under 20 of us. I’ll test before goi g as we have a few vulnerable people in the group, but I expect to be fine. I had another booster just a week before I flew, so I feel I am as protected as I can be right now.

I haven't been masking but I've been avoiding prolonged time in crowds. I'm finally getting over a cold and I don't want to come down with something again with all the stuff I have to do to get ready for Xmas Eve and Xmas day.

I feel like this is anecdotal, but everyone I know and have heard of lately with Covid, has managed to avoid it up until now. Does anyone know (ETA: a vaccinated) someone who’s had it before that’s had it this fall? Or is it all Covid “virgins?”
In regards to the original question, if I was gathering with with a group that included either un-vaxxed and/or those who are immunocompromised I most certainly would be masking up to protect them. My 24th-25th is comprised of me and 2 friends my age, all three of us are vaxxed to the max.
🤞🏻 that the peas and those they love stay healthy over the next 10 days!

I hate shopping in crowds. So I did most of my cmas shopping online, OR I shopped smaller boutique small business stores, which arn't as crowded. I hadn't been INside a target in 1 1/2 yrs until about 2 wks ago. I've been getting drive up. Not because I wanted to avoid people, but because they have perfected it so well now, with COVID, that it's so easy to do after work, vs go IN to the store. Esp in the winter. On the other hand. I work in a hospital. Right now we are seeing a surge in COVID, AND influenza A. So everyone take care! The line inside Target yesterday was the worst I have ever seen. It went way back into the food aisles. They had 3 registers open (and 4 self serve)s. By the time I left, they pulled five more people to work the registers. This was my experience too last weekend. I normally try to avoid Target and Costco on the weekends especially. DD needed something for a school project so I took one for the team and went to Target. When I walked in there were maybe three registers open and the lines to check out (for both the manned registers and the self checkout) were going almost all the way back to the grocery section. I picked up my half dozen things and by the time I got back up to the front I was able to walk right up to a cashier behind one person being helped and I was on my way within ten minutes. I was pretty impressed. As a general rule though, even before Covid I would always try to shop during the off hours whenever possible. I have no patience for waiting in lines or dealing with crowds. I still do that now. I was sicker than a dog with a bronchial and sinus infection a couple months ago but I haven’t started back up with masking. I probably should, there is so much junk going around right now.

Or is it all Covid “virgins?” All of the residents and a lot of the workers at the skilled nursing facility DH works at had it a few weeks ago, and almost all of them have had it, this was the 3rd time for the majority of the residents. (And they are all vaccinated and boosted).

Nope. Went to see the Rockettes perform at Radio City last week. Crowded and no masks. Broadway does not require them and hasn't for probably at least a year now.

I wouldn’t say I was an anti-masker, but I dropped those early on. But I got Covid over Thanksgiving and it kicked my butt. My kids got mild cases, but have both gotten some crud and both their doctors said they are seeing this a lot. Post Covid patients with weakened immune systems getting sick immediately after. I don’t want to be sick anymore. I want to enjoy Christmas. I will mask and avoid crowds and events to make that happen. So if anything I’m being more cautious even though I know I’m temporarily immune to Covid for a short time.

I'm starting to mask up again in crowded areas. I had RSV and it kicked my butt for 4 full weeks.
I'm planning to mask up at church tonight.

We were masking for two weeks prior to Christmas. My son was in the Jungle Book production and had a Taekwondo belt test that he needed to stay healthy for. Plus we left Thursday evening for Poland. Now that we are here, we aren’t masking. We just had to be sure we felt well enough to get here 😁
