Merry Christmas Eve! (to those who celebrate!) I am sitting here for another hour and then going to run some last minute errands ... grab some iced tea (without the ice!) from Starbucks, a few groceries and some socks for my mum for her stocking ... forgot them yesterday! I finished all of my "wrapping" last night at about 2 am. I don't wrap ... I put everything in gift bags with tissue paper ... here is the haul ... this is basically for three people ... Emma, Molly and Grandma. A couple are for Emma's boyfriend and for my girlfriend ... yes, I spoil my family. The girls and Grandma and Emma's boyfriend are coming over tonight ... we will play Scrabble, chat and eat appetizers and dessert ... everyone is sleeping over except boyfriend (he could but there isn't space!). I wanted to open gifts tonight but got vetoed ... dd's want to wait until the morning. Food will be veggie tray, meat selection, cheese selection, crackers, potato skins and whatever else they can scrounge from my fridge! . Chocolate and Vanilla rolls for dessert ... What are your plans today? What is on your Christmas Eve menu? I am hopeful that you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve! . I'll say this in my "Elf" voice: "I love Christmas Eve. It's my favourite!"

Hi leannec! I don't know how your roads are but according to Jeremy (who was out driving his semi this morning) ours are treacherous. We've altered our plans slightly because of it. We are going to my mom's. But luckily she doesn't live but 10 minutes away from me. Jeremy is not going to get his girls. They are just too far and he's not comfortable driving back and forth twice today to get them. We are seeing them on Monday though so no big deal. My sister made stuffed shells for dinner tonight. I did the salad. And my mom has other snacks.

We are picking up Famous Daves today. I ordered way too much, but that's what happens when I have to pivot on 24 hours notice! We will probably have enough for Mondays dinner as well. Famlus Daves now has Bakers Square pies, so I ordered a French Silk. My guess is that the name will be the only similarity to the original pie!

Happy Christmas Eve to those celebrating! Sounds like a lovely dinner leannec jeremysgirl - wise to stay off the roads as much as possible. Stay safe and warm littlemama - sounds delicous! Dh traditionally 'cooks' on Christmas Eve by ordering pizza...I tried changing it to something else but got vetoed so pizza it is again this year. I need to bake cookies (dough is chilling), wrap more presents, and nag DH to finally assemble the trees that were supposed to go up LAST weekend. We're doing an extended celebration this year - just the 3 of us for Christmas Eve/Day and then the older two come home on Tuesday and we'll do Christmas Day part 2 on Wednesday and our 'Christmas Eve' book exchange on either Wednesday or Thursday evening.

Happy Christmas eve, tribe. leannec , is that a pantry in your photo? I love that you spoil the people in your life. WTG. Enjoy your time w/your mom and dd's. Good luck at Scrabble. jeremysgirl , good idea to avoid the roads. I hope that you and sister can find comfort w/eachother tonight. linda , enjoy your few days of Christmas with your family. littlemama , back in my eating days I had a piece of Baker's Square French silk pie. It was delicious. Enjoy and enjoy your holiday. Well, I have to wrap everything, but luckily I don't have much. At this age the boys want and need $$ more than wrapped gifts. I have to go do a grocery pickup and then I'll put on nice music and wrap. Baking, ? We'll see how I feel. Dinner will be something like bow tie alfredo. Ods comes home today and I'll do a pasta dish that will feed hearty appetites. After dinner there's a strong chance of Bananagrams.

We’re having appetizers for dinner tonight. I bought frozen potato skins, mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers. We have some leftover taco meat that can go on nachos. There is celery and grapes tomatoes if anyone needs a veggie! By the way, I nearly fell over at the price of celery yesterday…$3.49 a bunch!!! The hearts were $3.99 a package. Yikes!
Unfortunately, I’ve managed to catch a cold and dd and ds aren’t feeling great. It will be a quiet Christmas at home and hopefully we can see Karen and her dh next weekend.

That is a Costco pantry unit that sits in the second bedroom ... the room is huge! I don't win at Scrabble even though I'm educated ... my mum, who has a grade 9 education, is a Scrabble Master and Emma's boyfriend is super competitive so they always win!

Merry Christmas Eve!
I am finally ready for Christmas! I finished wrapping this morning, cleaned the house up. My mom helped me fix a few dishes that I can make ahead of time.
Since we weren’t able to get together with my brother and his family last night they decided to come up today. All my kids and grandkids are coming over as well. Our Christmas Eve tradition has always been to have Italian beef and whoever can make it comes. This year it will be a full house! We will eat and play games. Then do it all over again tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone, leannec That is a serious amount of gifts! Good for you spoiling those who you love! Have a great time tonight! Wouldn’t it be amazing if you won at Scrabble? jeremysgirl I hope everyone hears your warning and stays put. I am so glad that Jeremy is putting safety first. littlemama Your dinner sounds delicious! linda Pizza is easy peasy. Looks like you are going to be able to have Christmas almost all week. scrapmaven Enjoy your and don’t worry if the cookies don’t get made. Have the boys make them with you. Your bow tie pasta sounds delicious. KelleeM I am sorry that you and your family came down with colds. Your dinner sounds great. Enjoy staying home, safe and warm. Today I am doing dishes. YDS made a fried rice dish this morning and he is making a chicken dish to take to my SIL’s for tonight. Now you see why I am the dishwasher. I only have to assemble MIL’s, in-laws and nephews and niece’s gifts into bags for tonight. We are leaving here at 4 pm and traveling should be safe to go 40 minutes away. But it is supposed to be in the early teens; so it will be freezing outside. I can hear in my head leannec , bc2ca , taylortroop and Delta Dawn laughing their heads off; because they are use to it. I don’t know how you and the rest of our northern ladies take it. I was a California girl for to long. I hope all of you have a peaceful day and a wonderful Christmas Eve!

Most of western New York is still under a travel ban so not going anywhere today. We’re supposed to go to my cousins this evening, which we could because where we are and where he is the travel ban has been lifted. However his daughter tested positive for Covid a week ago and was still testing positive this morning so my mother and I are not going. My mother had already decided she wasn’t going when we heard that she was positive last Sunday. Can’t risk carrying it back to any of the babies or anybody else. Not sure we’ll see my brother and my other niece tomorrow because where they are south of Buffalo I highly doubt the travel ban will be lifted by tomorrow. That is fine because we’ll see them either Monday or Tuesday.
Off to Watch some football for the rest of the day

Merry Christmas Eve to our tribe-mates who celebrate. " DS arrived yesterday with the happy news that he had been promoted to manager! He's gotten promoted each of the past 3 years and he was hoping it would be to manager this year. I'll be busy making sides today so all I have to do is make my pecan pie tomorrow. The guys will be watching football. ETA: Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner!

I was out as early as I could be to get fresh baguettes and croissants from a local bakery and then did the unthinkable. I stopped at Costco. I was there a few minutes before they opened at 8:30 and there was a line around half the building, so I stayed in the car until it cleared and then scooted into the optometry department and picked up my new glasses. I was going to wait until next week, but want them for the game tomorrow because I can fit my old lady sunglasses over them. As I pulled into the driveway, my peeps were leaving the house to go shopping. They also have big plans to stop at the new Dave's Hot Chicken near DH's work. He won't go if there is a line and has zero luck so far, so it has become a bit of a mission. When they get back we will settle into watching our Christmas movies (Elf, Jingle All the Way, Die Hard, The Grinch and Scrooged) and nibble/nosh/graze our hearts out until bedtime. Hot appetizers include TJ's Pastry Pups, mac & cheese bites, pastry wrapped brie, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, bacon wrapped almond stuffed dates and a crab/cream cheese dip. Cold will be all the cheeses and meats, pickles, crackers, bread, apples, pears, nuts, hummus and a crudite plate. Chocolates and Yiayia's cookies for dessert. Christmas Eve is my favorite.

Happy Christmas Eve! The sun is out and it's a pretty day, even if it is still much colder than normal. The good news is that it finally got above freezing and our frozen pipes have thawed. I'd left the taps all a bit open today to relieve pressure when they thawed out and hearing that sputtering water sound was like music! Doing laundry now and then headed for a hot shower. 2 more nights of lows in the 20s so we'll be dripping the faucets tonight. Fingers crossed that helps.
The only thing I have left to do for Christmas is whip up the cocktail napkins for DD. It won't take long to do the embroidery design and I should have them finished by bedtime.
DD will be over about 5 pm for Christmas Eve dinner (crawfish etouffee). DH has promised to pick up something for dessert while he's out and about. We'll eat then stream the Christmas Eve service from our church. Not too interested in being around a big crowd with everything going around right now.
Hope everyone is staying warm!

Tonight was supposed to be orange cranberry pork loin and roasted chicken breasts with muffins, southern style green beans, AF roasted baby red potatoes, and rice.
Instead I am going to put the loin in the IP and turn it into carnitas for taco salads and shred the chicken for dd for her taco salad.
Tomorrow will be left overs.

Merry Christmas Eve friends!
Our neighbourhood was digging out from the storm this morning. The wind was wicked so although we didn’t get much accumulation of snow, it’s blown into heavy drifts. DH was pumped to get out his new ATV with the snowplow on it and play in the driveway.
It will be quiet for us until Boxing Day when the whole fam will be here. Tomorrow it will just be DH and I and my mom for dinner. We will have something simple like spaghetti. Then the big turkey dinner on Monday.

Merry Christmas from Down Under! Last night we attended the children’s Christmas Mass with the family at the church where Lucia was baptised two weeks ago. Then we came home for a festive dinner of cold prawns with salads and a nice bottle of bubbly. We followed that with cheese then mince pies, all while watching Carols by Candlelight on TV. It is now early Christmas morning and we will soon be preparing to go to my sister’s house for lunch and presents. We helped with set up yesterday afternoon. There will be about 20 of us there and very many presents! And best of all, we have a Christmas baby! My nephew and his gf welcomed their first little one, a tiny girl named Cara Ivy, at 1:17am Christmas Eve!

I finished wrapping presents. I just thought that I'd share, because I am a terrible wrapper and I dread it each year. Opening presents is great fun. Wrapping? Not so much. There's a football game now, so I'll have to wait until halftime to make my 3rd attempt at mil's cream roll. Off to make cards on my Cricut Joy. Go Team. sueg, is Sophia giddy w/excitement? bc2ca, I have a confession. I haven't seen Elf. Yds told me that it's very good and he is planning to watch w/me during the break. I can't wait.

sueg, is Sophia giddy w/excitement? She was bouncing around in church, until she suddenly got very tired and fell asleep on mum! She woke up when they got home and was bouncing again by all accounts. She made sure to open the gates in front of the fireplace so Santa could get in! We will see her when we get to my sister’s later and I expect she will be so excited, especially if new baby is there.
