We usually leave things up until mid-January but I will be going out of town for an extended period in early January so we will probably put everything away on 1/2.

Everything is down and put away. This wasn’t one of our Christmases, and I wanted to put it behind me.

Ours always stays up until at least New Years. I love looking at it! And it's been up since the end of November. The family room always looks so dark when the tree comes down

I'm leaving it up as long as possible as I put everything up and went up and down the ladder and my older ass can't handle it like I did 10 years ago.

I also leave mine up until Jan 6th, and after that I transition to winter decorations. I stop turning on the tree lights after the 6th but this year ds2 is coming home from Calif for a week and he loves Christmas lights.
It takes me awhile to get the tree down. I probably won't even start until mid January.
We do like the traditional 12 days of Christmas. But I do not fully decorate until mid Dec.

We have had only part of the family here for actual Christmas - two sons, one daughter in law, and two grandsons. The other two sons, two daughters in law, and granddaughter will be coming in Wednesday and Thursday. So our big “family Christmas” will happen Friday. I can’t possibly undecorate until after the new year as a result. We’re still in full on holiday mode here! I'm in the same boat. DS and the grandchildren arrive tomorrow. We'll celebrate Christmas tomorrow night. Then we have hockey all weekend. I might have DS take down the big tree, as it's too heavy for me.

I was so into Christmas this year that I didn’t even get anything out other than the wreath on the front door!
nothing to put away other than wrapping paper left over and present sacks and I’m so glad that’s it. Hopefully 2023 will be a better year and I will want to decorate then.

I took down the outdoor lights--I only decorated around the front door, the handrails, the mail box, and the living room window because I can manage with a stepstool. Ladders are a thing of the past.
The stockings and ornaments are packed away, but the artificial tree, tree lights and my Christmas cards will stay until Jan 2nd. I like having my morning tea or cocoa by the tree when the house is quiet before the sun comes up.
We haven't gotten together with the extended family for Chanukah since the pandemic, but I had latkes and matzoh ball soup for my daughters and lit the electric menorah to honor their father's family. We use youtube for the blessings. The menorah and the recipe cards are put away.

We usually take down NYE weekend, which I hate bc we are tired, but I love because I feel like we are starting the new year with a fresh, clean house!

I was watching a Seinfeld Christmas episode yesterday. He was joking about how people love their trees before Christmas and then throw them away in the trash afterwards.
I keep my stuff up til New Year’s Eve. And with live trees, I put them in the woods nearby.
Wishing a better year to all those who are having a tough time.

I'll start taking things down in a few days while I'm watching bowl games. I'm not in any hurry to get things down. The lighted garland on the mantel will be the last to come down.

It's almost all down. The tree is down but I'm still putting some of other decorations away. I like to get it all done by Boxing Day and if not then, by the 27th.

I like to have it all put away before school and dance start up again. So, it will be before the 2nd. Some years I am in a hurry to get my house back from the chaos but I’m doing ok this year.

We put our stuff up late this year so I’m not quite as sick of it as I usually am at this point. I’ll probably take it down next weekend. Since I left all the snowmen up all year last year, I’ll probably take them down to dust them and put some of them away since DH is sick of looking at all the clutter on the mantel. There are a few though that I always leave up year round.
After New Years I’ll switch the outside lights from multicolor to white for the duration of the winter months. We don’t have any street lights in our neighborhood and I hate how dark our house is on the outside in the winter otherwise.

I didn't decorate this year but I'm here to say I am a heathen and had to look up the epiphany. I'm old - I should know these things.

My decorations came down today. I would usually leave it till the first of the year, but we have a kitten that has been chewing on the tree. It’s a flocked tree and DH was worried it would make her sick. In all honesty, he’s always ready for it to come down before me, so he was glad to have the kitten excuse. Any way. It’s all put away.

Everything is still up and there are still presents under the tree. I have more "Christmas” yet to do. It’s just the way it’s working out.
Years ago, when I was single, I always liked to have all the stuff put away and things back to normal before school started up again I. January. I would often use NY Day for that.
After I got married and we built the house, we usually spent NY Day with friends but I still tried to have things down and the house in good shape by the time school started again.
Them, over the years I loosened up on things a lot. No rigid rules, it got done when it got done, and sometimes when we had help for getting things back down to the basement. That was especially true when my husband was fighting cancer, and the year he had to have his appendix out a couple days before Christmas. Since he died, I did it when I felt like it and now that I’m retired, it’s even more that way.
I will take down overtly Christmas decor when I’m ready, and outside lights may get turned off even if it’s too cold to remove them, but I leave out trees and snowmen and cardinal items both indoors and outdoors. I like the plain flocked and lighted skinny trees and they add some warmth to the darker days of January. And as that’s the month when my husband was in hospice and died, I need anything that brings a bit of pleasure.
It is nice when the house is back to normal and there are fewer things around, but I like to stretch out my enjoyment. So I do what works for me and don’t care what anyone else does.
