We had a small (9) Christmas eve family dinner. Right now, 4 of the 9 are testing positive. Seems to be mild so far. I tested negative yesterday, haven't tested today.
Make it 5 of the 9 now.

I also hope for mild symptoms and speedy recoveries for everyone.
I think it is our new normal. I escaped everything for over 2 years. I got really sick before the "Pandemic" officially was on the books, but I am so sure I had Covid. I can actually trace the steps back to a person traveling to the US from Europe and finally ending up with me - through MANY steps along the line.
But mid-December my DH and I both got wacked again. I did not test. We both felt pretty rotton for a couple days, then tired for a couple weeks. We are isolated in our lives anyway, and while we were sick, we passed on going out with friends, etc.
But I think Covid is here to stay. I am hoping it is milder and not lethal, but things are sometimes, depending on your overall health.
I was interested to see that the Spanish Flu is actually still going around. Much milder, but still strains of it.
It's time to not be afraid, but also please learn from our past and STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK! Good golly.

Oh no! I hope that it is mild for everyone.
Influenza A has been kicking our extended family’s butts. We had it during Thanksgiving and the week after. My dh’s sister and her family all have it now and her grandkids have been really sick with it.

That sucks. Hope those infected have mild cases and that those not infected don’t get it. And that no one ends up with long Covid.

I’m sorry! Hopefully you can avoid it. I’m in the same boat—my boyfriend gave me Covid for Christmas. He tested positive on Christmas morning, and I did yesterday. I’m already on Paxlovid, so hopefully it will stay mild. I avoided Covid for 2.5 years, but my streak has come to an end. Now I’m worried for my mom—she sat next to my guy at dinner on Saturday night.

Thanks for the well wishes! I feel like crap, but tested negative today. Who know? My Sister tested negative several times (even in the Hospital) but she definitely had it. Hope you don’t get it.

Thanks for the well wishes! I feel like crap, but tested negative today. Who know? It took several days of feeling crappy and testing for my positive to show up on a home test. I would just assume you have it and stay isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms start and mask up when you go out.

It’s everywhere. Friends here in Arkansas have it along w/my hairdresser and her Mom, Dh stepmom in Utah is recovering and my sister’s family in MD finally caught it but are doing ok. I’m sure the US will continue to see an upswing after holiday gatherings. I had it a year ago, and got my Bivalent vax in October, but I’m a bit nervous about going back to school next Weds., where I am a Cafeteria Cashier in Primary school for part of my job.

I got it about 2-3 weeks ago. It was fairly mild, but I’m still a bit congested and fatigued. It seems to be dragging on and on!

Almost everyone I know who has avoided it has lost their 3 year battle in the last week. This variant is just so contagious....

Sorry to hear and hopefully all symptoms remain mild and the cases short. This happened to us last Christmas Eve. We intentionally avoided the big extended family party because it felt risky. We hosted a small dinner for my immediate family, 6 adults and 2 kids. Next day my brother woke up sick as a dog with Covid. Three more of us tested positive a few days later. The big family party with 25 people remained Covid free. The most frustrating part was that side of the family were Covid deniers and still throw this in our faces today.

I have a coworker who also had never gotten it until now, and she got just as sick as I did. Steroids and the whole bit. It would really be fascinating to know what exactly is involved in each variant on making some people very sick and others not at all.

He got it from a coworker shortly after Thanksgiving, then I got it from DH. I was testing at home every 48 hours, and was obviously sick for a few days before my home test finally came back positive. Thankfully both of our cases were fairly mild and we are recovered now. I hope everyone else has mild cases too!

Hope you’re feeling better. At this point I look at Covid as a game of tag and I don’t want to be it.

Hope you’re feeling better. At this point I look at Covid as a game of tag and I don’t want to be it. Seriously - I hope you're masked and vaxxed. I can name 2 people I know who have avoided it up to now and haven't gotten it in the last 3 weeks (out of dozens.) This variant is so crazy contagious. Be careful out there!
