Good morning.
I have to go to the mall and do a return and then shop for a black dress. Hopefully, it'll be a very quick trip. I've been trying to post this for the past 25 minutes, but dh and ds keep coming out w/issues. Last night I made chicken fajitas, so dinner will be rechauffe or takeout.
What's on your menu?
lucyg, how are you feeling today? I hope that you woke up feeling well and that your sore throat is completely gone.
What's everyone up to this weekend?
We're still in a huge disarray w/mil's stuff that will go back to her house and the furniture that will go back into the room that dh is renovating. Ods has a bunch of stuff to take back to his apartment when he goes tmw, as well. I can't really get into my office and that's impinging on my play time. It occurred to me that I've been so busy taking care of everyone else around here that I need to start taking care of my own needs and enjoying my life, again. That means some scrapping time, or in my case time w/my planner. I'm going to sort of use it as a vision board for this year, as well as a creative calendar.
Enjoy a happy, relaxing, fun weekend that is delightful!

It occurred to me that I've been so busy taking care of everyone else around here that I need to start taking care of my own needs and enjoying my life, again. Yessssss! Me and you, both. Let's do this thing. sueg your food pics looked fabulous I am finishing up a project I need to have submitted by 4 pm today. I'm almost done, I've just got to upload it. I don't know what I plan to do this weekend. I have absolutely nothing on my agenda. No money either. Hahahaha...but nothing on my agenda. I hope I finish the latest shawl I've been working on. It would feel good to get that done. But part of my new outlook is not feeling like I'm on a deadline with any of my crafts. Doing what I feel like doing when the mood strikes me. We still have rechauffe lasagna. But who knows? Jeremy could decided to hit the store and pick up something else.

Hi Dinner Tribe. Today BFF and I are going for facials as my birthday present. That should be fun. Dinner tonight is a mystery. I am thinking breaded pork tenderloin with salad and green vegetable. I use almond flour from Costco and add herbs and spices to the mix and air fry them. The texture of the meat is amazing. It’s another cool day in the Canadian south west and all is good on my front.

scrapmaven - I have really been taking some time and rethinking what "I" want. And that is to get back into crafting. This weekend I will be packing up Christmas, cleaning the basement and reorganizing so I can have that crafting place. I have not had this itch to do anything since my Mom died and that has been almost 14 years now. So I am with you and jeremysgirl, let's do this! Dinner will most likely be out or take away as I still am not feeling anything. However, that Hot Honey Chicken teddyw posted yesterday sounds delicious! I have printed that out to try next week. **My walk this morning went without incident. Everyone was happy...mostly the dogs.

Yesss! Come to the dark side scrappert! Lol! I meant to say I bookmarked the hot honey chicken recipe from teddyw too. Ironically my SIL brought me back a jar of hot honey from a recent vacation. I didn't know what to do with it.

Just got back from errands. This is the lull between storms as it's going to be nasty this weekend and into next week. For self-care I need to book a massage. One of Dh's gifts to me was a GC to the spa connected to our gym. If you bought a $100 GC, they added a $25 GC to it plus I get 10% off for being a gym member. Dinner will be Sloppy Joes. TGIF everyone, keep warm and keep safe!

Well it was supposed to be a day at home today, but dh told me we're going over to a kinda-co-workers house for dinner. I think it's takeout pizza. I've never me them before so this should be interesting. Dh is looking to sell him his business so he can (mostly) retire next year. scrapmaven good for you starting to do stuff for yourself! it's absolutely necessary Delta Dawn how long do you cook it in the air fryer for? I'm amazed that anyone can eat leftovers for several nights in a row! I'm not really a fan of leftovers, and if I have to eat them it's one more meal only and then they're garbage. It's why I can't really meal prep, to me it feels like eating leftovers

Hi friends...it's been a long time since I posted, even though I've been lurking like a creeper almost every day. Lots has happened since I was posting regularly...got married, moved back to NW Indiana near where I grew up (to be with him), changed jobs still a social work professor but left my university of nearly 15yrs, lost my 2 sweet min pins at 14yrs old, got two more (that are crazy), bought a house... But some things stay the same...we still eat dinner, so here I am! My resolution is to begin posting again. I've gotten a lot out of the last 20yrs at 2p's and it feels pretty one sided.
Tonight's plan is pizza and an early night. My husband Nick was off for 10 days (unheard of) between Christmas and NY's so this week back has him worn out. I am scrambling to get my classes ready for the start of the semester next week and I'm tired too. I have one more to finish and a zoom call this afternoon. I've also been dealing with SO.MUCH.BUREACRACY trying to get our healthcare issues taken care of, as so many of you in here are familiar. And I took the pups to get their nails trimmed which requires all I have not to lose my mind from the barking and drama and bad behavior in the car. So, pizza it is...I feel like I've earned every pepperoni already today!

There are only a handful of things I will eat a second time. Lasagna happens to be one of them.

I teach in South Bend and we like to go for dinner or day trips into MI too. My husband is a peach, but I miss girlfriends. I had hoped family might scratch that itch (his and mine), but nope! Very glad for this place, still.

Don’t know what’s for dinner yet. I have started intermittent fasting low carb eating. I am on day 4 and weight wise doing well. I have NO energy !!! I hope this effect is temporary as I go back to work Monday. I only work Monday and Tuesday so I will definitely need to have some energy back before than. I might change my eating window to early but it is 2:30 pm right now and I am not hungry at all. Any suggestions to anyone that has success eating this way? I don’t want to focus on meals too much and make this as simplified as possible. Last night I had a chicken Caesar salad minus the croutons . I added olives and feta cheese and a hard boiled egg for more protein and it has kept me satisfied . I don’t want to get bored with my meals by repeating the same thing daily . Open to suggestions. I am going to look up a recipe for a mineral drink. I did just drink some pickle juice which is yummy, so I want to eat my meal within the next 3 hours . I am trying out 21:3 window for now

I’m feeling better today, scrapmaven … thanks for asking. My friend and I put off our lunch till next week, anyway. tmarschall, love seeing you return to us. Congrats on the wedding and move and new pups, and I’m sorry about the old ones. Expecting houseguests again next weekend, so I need to start getting ready for that. I’ve spent the past week washing every single item from the guest bed (formerly the boy’s bed) after DD/SO + large dog + wet weather made it all radioactive. So that bed needs to be totally reconstructed now. I ended up making my beef barley soup last night, so that’s dinner. For the foreseeable future. Me, I love leftovers! Hate having to cook something new every night, and perfectly happy to eat the same thing all week (like my friend rymeswithpurple) if it means I don’t have to cook again.

lucyg I hear you about eating the same thing for days. My family and DS were away and I had cottage cheese 3x one day. Really! I did not want to cook that night. It was years ago but it still happened!

That just means a meat of some kind, salad (we don’t do anything special to salads and a green vegetable. If we have tomatoes I will serve them, too. My dad is not a huge fan but I am. Caprese salads are nice, too. I eat balsamic vinegar because I really like it. I also love fresh mozzarella. Just keep going. Also try to get some excercise when you can. If the weather is too cold walk inside your house. I do that too. Keep going!

Just woken up on our last morning in Australia for this visit. Yesterday we went to Questacon, a fabulous, hands on Science museum that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting Canberra. It is probably even more fun if you have little kids - DS2 can't wait for Sophia to come visit him so they can go together. Dinner was a wine bar in the city, which had lovely 'small sharing plates' of food. We had a wide selection - oysters, chicken bites, tuna tartare, pork with beet and apple salsa and a kaffir lime creme caramel for dessert.
This morning, we are hiking up Mt Ainslie early, then coming home to shower before going to brunch. Then the rest of our weekend will be travel. Flights from Canberra to Melbourne, Melbourne to Dubai and finally Dubai into Munich. I'll see you all on the other side (or maybe I'll check in from Dubai)

I've been busy today ... Molly slept over then went to pick up Grandma to take her to have her car serviced at the dealership ... I met them there at 10 am and we all went for brunch and then came to my place to wait for the car to be ready ... Once the car was done, I drove everyone back to the dealership and Molly took Grandma home ... she came back to my place and we took down Christmas ... now Molly is napping on the sofa. I will have rechauffe veggie pizza for dinner ... easy peasy! No idea what I'm doing this weekend ... I'll just take it as it comes.

I have started intermittent fasting low carb eating. My window is generally 5-6 hours. I rarely eat before noon, and often not until 2. If I'm hungry I will have either tuna salad on cucumbers or a chopped vegetable/fruit salad with nuts or maybe leftovers. Often I just have nuts and an apple. We eat a lot of vegetable heavy Asian and Mediterranean based dinners. I'm sticking to vegetarian and fish/seafood because of inflammation issues but make animal proteins for DH/DS. When looking for recipe ideas, search for Whole30 on pinterest for tons of great ideas. I am going to the CA dmv to renew my driver's license.. was amazed I got an appt within. a week of trying I have renewed by mail twice. so now it is go in time. I got away with a third online renewal because of Covid, which means my photo is now 17 years old. Safe travels, sueg! I've enjoyed reading about your trip and love that you have had a great mix of family/tourist time. Did your YDS end up buying an apartment? I've been posting give aways on our Buy Nothing group and getting my guest room cleared out again. Anything not claimed by the end of the weekend will be donated next week. Dinner tonight will be a farro pilaf with a lot of the stray vegetables hanging around (celery, carrots, spinach, cabbage, zucchini, pepper, etc.) and zhoug sauce. I'll probably toss in some pistachios and pulled out grilled chicken from the freezer for the guys.

I babysat the youngest grandboy today and took the other two to day camp at the Y. The little one is 2 years old and he’s a hoot! Tomorrow I have all three of them for the day. It’s an early morning as I have to be there at 6 am. They go back to school on Monday and my DIL got a new position with different hours so my babysitting will be more sporadic.
DH does intermittent fasting and he has lost 22 pounds so far. I love to snack at night while watching tv so I haven’t opted into it yet. I’d miss my Smart White Cheddar popcorn at night!
Supper tonight was leftover chicken. I love leftovers! Easy peasey!

I've had a rough week, and I'm getting scared that I'm having post-hip replacement complications. I do NOT have the strength to go through anything else! I just don't. I was hard enough to just have the surgery! Did I tell y'all I cried for THREE HOURS STRAIGHT before the surgery? Yea, THAT is how afraid I was! I've asked for a referral to a functional med/ rehab physician, but who knows how long it'll take! Sooo many doctors are behind schedule, short-staffed, and overwhelmed. I can't even get into my regular doctor for 2 months. DH and I LOVE leftovers! I like that most dishes have richer flavors after a day or two (or three ! ) in the fridge--especially sauces, homemade soups, etc.
