Check out Lyft. A family member did lots of research before taking her first ride in this type of transportation. Lyft seems better. She was very pleased with her two rides to and from the airport. There's no real difference between the two for users, and many drivers driver for both.

Uber pick up easy at FLL... Go to baggage claim area (even if you don't have bags) you'll see signs for ride share. I usually fly in on JetBlue, and from the JetBlue baggage carousel area, you go outside and go right. There is a whole mess of people milling around. The app will tell you your drivers name, car make/model/color and license plate. As I approach I look for the right car, lol, verify plate (Florida usually only has one in the back) ask the driver their name. They 9/10 ask me if I am "my name" and every time have been right lol. It's actually really great. When you are returning to the airport, if using Uber, make sure you choose the right terminal. It's not tragic, but it may save you a few bucks if you don't have to circle the airport again lol As far as tipping, I don't believe in skirting the IRS and I definitely don't believe in finding yet another way for the end user to pay for what the company making the profit is exploiting their workers out of. Besides, I don't carry cash, and I want the points on my credit card. I tip in the app. Yes to all of this. Uber at FLL is super easy. We're usually on JetBlue as well because they have a nonstop from Austin. Just exit the airport and head right. You will see all the people standing around looking at their phones and acting like they are waiting on someone. I also tip on the app.

I have never used Uber or Lyft, but I have read advice that, when you approach the car, you dont tell them your name or get in. First you ask them who they are picking up. I've never done this and never had any issues. Also, most every driver I have ever had will say my name when I open the door. They put a picture of the driver, the make, model and license plate on the app so I always know I am getting in the right car. My mom would rather have her kids drive her around when she needs to go somewhere instead of using the app. Even if that means we have to take a half a day off of work to drive her the 10 minutes to a doctor's appt. Not because she can't drive, it is usually because my Dad is determined to go and he can't walk long distances anymore (long covid) and she won't park him on a bench until she goes and parks the car. I found Uber and Lyft in Vegas is really convenient! Every hotel has dedicated locations for rideshares and the airport was super fast!

I've never done this and never had any issues. I’ve never been knocked down by a car but it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop looking when I cross the road. It’s a security measure for your own safety.

we have started preordering uber to go to and fro from the airport. the app allows the driver to follow your flight.. so if your flight is late, etc, the driver knows and will pick you up right on time. with lots of luggage, we will order a xl uber. so you can wait til the last minute, but don't hesitate to order ahead of time.. especially useful in a quiet neighborhood for a 4 am ride.
I like lyft too.. and many people drive for both.

A coworker drives for both and says Lyft treats their drivers better. Because of that, I only use Lyft. The experience is exactly the same.

Im sure the people who got into the wrong car and were murdered didnt have any issues previously either.

Also supposedly the driving records are checked further back for Lyft drivers over Uber.
