Hi everyone! I am going to pick up my mum soon to take her to get groceries ... fun times ... it is a good way for me to procrastinate though ... I need to work on report cards today ... ugh! So that is my day ... aren't you jealous? This is what I posted on Facebook today ... it is so true! Whenever I go out to eat, that is the highlight of the evening! I'm not sure what dinner will be tonight ... I should probably cook ... we'll see! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Happy Saturday! It's another work day for me. It will be a busy day so it will go fast. I plan on going home and watching football tonight and working on some Valentine's cards. Last night I ended up meeting DS for dinner. He was a little down in the dumps. Someone backed in to his truck the night before and took off. Not much damage but some people just suck. He is a little shy and socially awkward and I think he is lonely right now. Has never dated much. Every mom just wants their kids to be happy. Even if he is an adult! I think DH is making chili for dinner tonight. Same leannec, same. Dinner out is our evening.

I slept late today - DH finally woke me just before 9am! When I looked out, it had been snowing most of the night and we had quite a decent snow cover. It has continued to snow lightly but steadily all day and we now have about 10cm. I went for a walk after lunch as the snow was fairly light at that point. For most of the time, I was walking on fresh snow, so not easy but also not dangerous to walk on. Crossing roads was more fun - at times, I could hardly see where the footpath ended and the road started. Apart from that, I have been watching sport (tennis then football) on TV and knitting - just the weather for it.
We are going out to dinner tonight, to a restaurant we haven’t visited before. It is called Ichiban and is Japanese/Vietnamese. The menu looks good and the bus stops right outside!

We are going to go to the flower shop as dh's aunt in TN called me yesterday to ask me to get flowers from all of the TN aunts and uncles to take to step-FIL in the hospital. Then, we will go on to the hospital for a short visit as long visits tire him out. After, we will go to dinner at a local deli.
Dh's aunt, who used to be an oncology nurse does not see step-FIL lasting much longer.☹

littlemama, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's dsf. It was very kind of you to purchase and bring flowers from dh's family. May his passing be peaceful. leannec, your day sounds like great fun. Woohoo. NOT! At least have something good for dinner that you really want. sueg, Sounds like a good workout to walk in the snow. Please let us know what you ordered at the restaurant. Japanese/Vietnamese would be an interesting fusion. cadoodlebug, thank you. I did sleep. Yds woke up w/creeping crud, so he's off to urgent care. Not sure that we should put him on a plane tmw in this condition. Let's ensure that he's not the kid that no one wants wants to play w/first. Today I do need to tidy my front rooms, but it'll really be about rest. I can see a nap happening if I don't get more energy. Thank you once again, ladies for your immense support.

leannec I'm pretty much a big waste of skin after dinner. Early to bed for us here. sueg Jeremy's favorite restaurant is called ichiban. We go every year on his birthday. His restaurant is Japanese hibachi. stormsts I know just how that feels to watch your kid be lonely. Esther had a couple of romances but she was a bit awkward too. scrapmaven good to have you back today. I'm glad yesterday was a nice remembrance of your MIL. littlemama I'm so sorry to hear about your step FIL. Hugs. I've got some mini cheesecakes in the oven right now for moms birthday. I'm taking her out to dinner tonight. And I will bring her little cheesecakes.

When the finally saw the oncologist on Thursday (after 2 months of slow walking the whole thing), he said that if he didnt start treatment right away, he wouldnt be here in a few weeks. He was admitted Friday for more testing and is supposed to start the first round of inpatient chemo on Monday. He has gotten so frail and week in the past 2 months that I dont know how thay will go.

Hi Everyone, leannec Have fun shopping with your Mum. Yep, your meme is true. stormsts Sorry that you are working today. I understand your DS being down about his truck. And like you, all I want is for my kids to be happy. sueg Your snowfall sounds beautiful but your walk sounds treacherous because you couldn’t see the footpath. Enjoy your Japanese/Vietnamese dinner. littlemama I am so sorry for your step FIL. cadoodlebug Glad that you are getting your walk in today. Your meme cracks me up. scrapmaven Hugs to you. I hope all of you are doing okay after yesterday’s service and goodbye to your MIL. I feel bad for your YDS, who has the creeping crud. jeremysgirl Cheesecakes are delicious. Happy Birthday to your mom. Today I am going to deep clean my foyer and hallway. Then just regular clean my family room, craft room and kitchen. I also have laundry to do. Go me. I just got vetoed on making homemade chicken soup for dinner. So now I have to figure out what’s for dinner. I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of your day.

Currently babysitting the grand boys. The little one is napping, the middle one is playing with Lego in his room and the oldest is playing video games in the livingroom. The dog is sleeping on the couch. I’ve already done the dishes and put the laundry away. I’ve been here since 6 am and DS will be home at 3:30 pm.
Not sure what’s for supper yet. Perhaps DH will have something prepped when I get home.
Happy weekend everyone.

Hanging out with my two great nephews. One is 5 and the other is 3. Usually their parents don’t work on the same day but today her DH had to go into the firehouse. So my mom and I have been here since 7am. It’s been fun but tiring. No idea what is for dinner. Jason will be here within an hour

Went on a long hike this morning - don't have much planned for the rest of the day. Tonight we're going to check out a new restaurant and see the Man Called Otto - I really liked the book so hope the movie is good!

Already had dinner here.... chicken nuggets for DD because she is a finicky fart and doesn't eat anything! Beef and Broccoli stir-fry for DS and me!
It started off rainy this morning, so DH and I sat in the car while DD had her riding lesson. Yes...they rode in the rain. Had to go buy a birthday present for DD's BFF's party tomorrow. Also grabbed snacks for a road trip we are going to take at the start of the week. Kids have a winter break holiday this coming week. We had thought about heading somewhere in Europe to take a trip before I start radiation because I just don't know how long it will be before I can travel after that. But I just don't feel I am up to doing flying or airports, so we are just going to keep it local.
Everyone has so much going on. Enjoy the meals out!

We went out for dinner last night and I had this amazing seafood risotto and enjoyed it. We managed (others too) to get ourselves locked in a state park and had to get security to let us out. Lesson learned. Omg you Americans get the best dairy! I always say that but so far I have had whipping cream for my coffee (delicious), Chobani Greek yoghurt and Dairigold cottage cheese. All are so very good. Today I think we will go to the park at the beach. It’s warm and very nice. Hugs to you scrapmaven yesterday because I wasn’t able to post something uplifting but you were in my prayers. Welcome allipeas. It’s fun to have you join us! Does your halal beef taste better than American beef? A friend who used to travel on holiday to Tunisia often said he liked it better than Canadian there.

stormsts I'm so sorry that happened to your DS. I know as moms our heart hurts when our kids (even grown and flown) are having a hard time. littlemama I'm so sorry about your s-FIL. scrapmaven I sure hope your YDS recovers quickly and that you also stay healthy. I'm sorry I wasn't online yesterday. I hope you take good care of yourself. My back is a little off so staying home today and I need to catch up on a few things. Tonight I will make roasted tomato puttanesca with my summer tomatoes.

I was home on my own for dinner. I had some pumpkin (butternut squash) that needed to be used, so I made some pumpkin risotto with goat cheese and sage. I'm going to use the leftovers to make pumpkin risotto and goat cheese arancini, which is one of my all time favourite ever foods, and take some to a couple of my colleagues.

I am meeting a visiting out-of-state pea for dinner tonight. I’ll ask if it’s okay to say her name. No surprise, dinner is Mexican food! littlemama, I’m so sorry about your FIL’s situation. Such a difficult time for him and everyone. Hugs to you. Hope he enjoys the flowers. stormsts, your poor baby boy! I just want to make things all better for him. destined2bmom, the proper response when they reject your dinner plans is to tell them to make dinner themselves, then. But you’re a nicer person than I am! I do like the takeout suggestion, too. allipeas, welcome to the dinner thread. Enjoy your getaway and I hope your radiation treatments are quick and easy.

I wasn't aware anyone not cooking got a veto...but it sounds like you are nicer than me too, bc I will be sitting over here either eating chicken soup or waiting for the rest of them to bring me dinner! We have been at wrestling much of the day. We did have a lull where we went and ran errands because the bigger schools plus some forfeits and a lunch break added up to us being ahead of schedule. I did some returns to Torrid, got $85 back, found 2 dresses on clearance for a total of $50, had a $20 coupon and still came out way ahead. I ordered another dress for our fancy schmancy dinner tomorrow but I'm not sure it will arrive in time. If so, I have a back up. If not, Valentine's day is covered. The other dress is more casual. We picked up bagels for tomorrow's breakfast, went back to see Zack wrestle, and now are home for the night. Our kids didn't win but they hung in there. Next week is sectionals and then we are done til his brother starts baseball in March. We are either reheating pizza in the air fryer or doing chili cheese polish. Or maybe just cheese, crackers and salami. We have some leftover charcuterie stuff and a lunch salad in there. Whatever it is it will be easy. Sending good thoughts to those hurting, kids who arw sad, and folks who are stressed, sick or busy. ♥️

Hugs to you and your fil littlemamaGood to listen to your body allipeas. Europe will be there when you’re done. I’m glad your family was able to be together to remember your mil scrapmavenKeep us updated if using her pans makes a difference in your baking Working on some projects at the lake because our house should be done around 2/21. The dog rolled n some type of animal feces in the woods when we got here. Had to bathe her first. Trying to get the landscaping tweaked. I’ve emailed back & forth with the designer at least 10x. He refuses to call. A 20 minute call would have resolved it all. So annoying. Made veggie pizza in a cast iron skillet with salad.

Hi we had teriyaki chicken, broccoli and salad for dinner. We had very good fish tacos for lunch, too. They were mahi mahi on corn tortillas. Yum! We had a very nice day today and enjoyed watching whales breach for hours.

I can't say that the beef tastes all that different, but the lamb sure as heck does. I don't eat lamb all that much as it's too fatty for me, but I do like to do a leg of lamb roast every once in a while. In my experience, the lamb in the States literally has no taste. Much more flavorful here. Perhaps because they are basically free roaming sheeps here. Not going to lie, the fruits and veggies here seem to be more flavorful as well.
