My ex-boss had a Jeep and used to call it a truck. Eventually he got an actual truck.

We've had about a kabillion vehicles in our 27 years of marriage, and mostly the SUVs have been called trucks. If dh and I have both had large SUVs at the same time, or if one of us has had a half ton or 3/4 ton or a one ton, they've been differentiated as "Mom's truck" and "Dad's truck". Under no circumstances would we refer to any truck as a pick-up truck--that's not really a thing on the Canadian prairies. A big truck is generally called a semi, unless perhaps it's a grain truck or gravel truck or dump truck. Dh had a Jeep Wrangler for a while, and it was called "the Jeep", whereas our previous Grand Cherokees were trucks. When I got my first Escalade, someone at the dealership tried to convince me that it was a Luxury Utility Vehicle so I should call it a "LUV", but that sounded completely stupid At the moment, I have a little Range Rover Evoque, which I never call a truck even though it's an SUV on my registration and such--it's tiny and it's totally a car. I'm not sure where my cut off between truck and car in terms of SUVs might be, but obviously somewhere between an Evoque and a Yukon

I drive a Yukon, which has a truck chassis, so I call it a truck. I do not call smaller SUVs, those on a car chassis, a truck-I call them SUVs. For me the size of the SUV is the difference.

Depends on whether the SUV is built on a truck base or car chassis. My SUV is built on a car chassis and the Dept. of Motor vehicles lists it as a car. My daughters SUV is built on a chassis base and is listed as a truck with DMV. I call my the car. I know she refers hers as the “monster truck”.

My husband has a truck. I have an SUV. I have no idea what our insurance lists my vehicle as.

No. An SUV is fully enclosed. A truck has an open bed. A Jeep is a Jeep. A Jeep with a truck bed is...weird. LOL

LOL Also, a friend of mine just bought a Jeep Compass, and is convinced she has to learn how to do the Jeep wave HAHAHAHAHHAHA Can't wait to be "ducked." No one has the heart to tell her that she overpaid for a crappy SUV and doesn't get to join the Jeep cult that cheaply. Yes, to all of this, but some Jeepers are very much a PITB when it comes to the wave, and ducks. Some say you MUST have a Jeep Wrangler to do these things. I couldn't care less what vehicle you have. If someone wants to wave (We also get waved at in our Miata, but it's a different kind of wave. ), wave. If you want to duck someone, do it! It all started out with someone wanting to be friendly and making people smile.

Heck no.. my DH is a vehicle guy.. he would croak if I called an SUV a truck.
Edited to add:
SUV = either the SUV or Expedition.. (or whatever) Truck = truck or My truck or Son's truck.. Semi = truck (DH is a truck driver) Jeep = Jeep

No ... can you imagine calling a Rav-4 a truck? Here in Alberta, we are over run with real pick up trucks ... F150's, Silverado's, Tacoma's, Ram's ... Isn’t it crazy?! And with the price of gas! I’d only have one if I was a farmer…don’t see the need otherwise (I know there are caveats to that😄). They don’t handle well on icy roads as far as I remember from driving my dad’s years ago. 😳 I don’t call an SUV a truck. Big rigs are semis, pick-ups are trucks.

No, I would never call an SUV a truck. And I drive a PICKUP, not a pickup truck! That drives me crazy! A truck is a semi.

My current SUV (2018 Chevy Equinox), I don't consider a truck, but my previous one (2013 Chevy Blazer), I did.
The Blazer was actually on a truck body so technically it was a truck and I believe for insurance purposes, it was considered a truck.

I said yes…. but only big ones. Suburbans. Expeditions. Escalades. Yukons. Everything else is an SUV.

We have a Chevy Traverse and I call it the car. I have probably referred to it as a truck at some point because it feels so big compared to our Infiniti crossover and our previous car which was a Saturn Vue. I never thought about insurance classifications or chassis.

That big ole girl and I never even had to think twice about driving in a blizzard--and there was always a blizzard!--or when things were icy--and things were always icy right at Leduc, where the highway designers must've forgotten that they lived in Alberta, lol! And it was awesome coming home from Kelowna at night pulling our trailer through the worst rain storms I've ever seen. What it wasn't awesome at was fitting into a parking space at the mall ;P

I don’t care who waves, ducks or … clucks? But to her… it’s a very.big.deal. Literally posting about it before she drove off the lot. Probably just annoys me so because in high school she was always trying too hard at every trend, more money than sense. How many NKOTB t-shirts pins and buttons can be worn at the same time? Super insecure, insincere, unoriginal and needy. Well, now that I got that random unresolved 90’s issue off my chest, I can go on with the rest of my life. Hahahha

We have a Ford Flex - it's a car (technically a crossover SUV). DS has an older Suburban - he refers to it as a truck. That said, DD has a Ford Ranger - we call it the Ranger...it's not big enough to warrant 'truck' status

My DH does this and it drives me batty. I drive an SUV. I wanted a truck, but the ones I wanted were well out of my price range and I found this SUV (Santa Fe) that was really nice and comfortable and great for when we travel, so I got it. And I'm very happy with it. but it's not a truck.
