Because I know the peas want closure on threads - here is my update.
I had a meeting with my new boss today to go over the position and what my new role would be. There are some similar aspects to this job (which is brand new and created just for me) to my old job and I think it will actually be interesting. I'm still finishing up my old job over the next couple of months but I will be working with a lot of my old team members and I'm looking forward to a new challenge.
Thanks to all the peas that told me to be positive. I really don't like change and liked what I was doing so I was hesitant to start something new.

Ugh, I've been dreading this Monday.
We found out about a week and a half ago that they were shutting down our division and moving us into different areas of our company. It's a digital marketing SaaS company that used to provide services (my team) to clients. Now they aren't offering that any more so they absorbed us into various places in the company. My new boss has been with the company for a month and 10 of us from my old division are moving under her. Luckily my work bestie is as well so I'll know some people.
They gave us an outline of our jobs and my new responsibilities are very fluid and not easily defined. I've got such anxiety about learning something new and wondering if I'll be successful.
What I started with this company 2.5 years ago, we had 50 employees and now we're over 300. I really liked my old job and it wasn't stressful at all which was nice. I'm glad they didn't just lay us off but I have no clue what to expect.
I'm trying to remain positive but the unknowns are making it really stressful!
Help me think of some positives if you can, please!

I feel for you. Same thing happened to us last September. We were told no one was loosing their jobs, but then come to find out that the job that I did solely, was an entire department in a different state. I got lucky and someone from my team retired, and I actually stepped into her position, but even doing that my anxiety was high, and even today still is when I have new things that I haven't done before. It's new for all of us and I know others are going through the same thing with the merger, but I really hate this feeling. I loved what I was doing before and would go back to that in a heartbeat, but its actually nice to know I won't be working crazy hours until end of April now. (work for an accounting firm) Don't get me wrong, there will still be some longer days, but not the 12+, 5 days a week and 3-4 on Saturdays like it used to be.

I'm sorry, that's really hard. But remember, you are a professional worker and you can do this. You got this!

Well nothing about your post says you're trying to be positive to me. Starting out negative by "dreading" your first day is not going to make anything better. Being nervous about a new job is one thing but dreading it is like willing it to be bad.
If your job description isn't defined, did you do any prep work, write down a list of questions, google job descriptions for your role, reach out to others in your role to get their feedback, take initiative to setup a meeting with your new boss?
Learning new stuff should never give anyone anxiety, learning is what makes us grow and be better people. If you are not successful that is OK too. Also, success may not come right away. Give yourself grace and allow time to learn.
My honest advice is to be excited nervous not dreading nervous.

I just really liked my old job so I'm kind of mourning the fact that it's gone. As far as the new role, we were given generic job titles and really loose descriptions that will fit a few of the people but not really my job. I don't deal well with change or the unknown so I know that's a big part of this. Thanks for the reminder to stay positive! I'm trying but I need to change my mindset.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

Just remember what got you the job to begin with. You still have those talents and whether you’re using them directly or indirectly you’re equipped to handle whatever comes your way.

I don't think you are coming off as negative, just nervous and anxious about the unknown, which is human. I would try to look at it as an opportunity to learn something new. You never know, you might enjoy the new aspects of the job, and it could lead you down new paths you never would have explored otherwise. Good luck!

I hope it goes great! Don't give up on day 1. I've hated jobs on day 1 that turned out to be great.

It is positive that your company has grown so much...while your new manager may be fairly new, that could be a good thing, since you are new to this position as well - hopefully they will have some fresh ideas and provide guidance. You may find that you love this job even more than the other one.

Thanks for the support!
I am really just nervous and anxious about doing something that could be pretty far out of my wheelhouse.
I did read the job description again and it could be interesting. We're finishing up our old jobs so I haven't started the new one yet even though I'm under the new department as of today. We're supposed to have one on ones over the next few days to hopefully get us started and on the right track.
Until then, I'm just going to take it all in and not get too worked up!
