I'll start:
Our two cats have two litter boxes. They use one exclusively for poop and one exclusively for pee. And I do mean exclusively. I have no idea why. They didn't do this when they were tiny, but they started this at about six months of age (they are now nine months) and have been completely consistent with it. It's so strange!
Our dog is raw-fed and gets one large meal a day, which includes two whole sardines (a lot larger than the kind you get in a can). He eats everything except the sardines in the morning, and then wants the sardines at about 2 PM. He'll go and sit in front of the fridge until I get them out for him. (I continue to put the sardines in the meal instead of feeding them separately because I need the weight of his total meal to balance the components). Again, so strange.
What are your pets' funny habits?

The Whippet insists on a carrot for dessert after each meal. He stand in front of the refrigerator, on the side by the vegetable drawer until he gets his carrot.

The only thing I can think that Scouty does that is weird is that at bedtime, he will go to each of my boys rooms and 'see' if they are in bed before he will go to bed. He walks into their rooms -- about 3-4 steps inside the door -- look, then turn around and come right back out. Then to bed in our room he goes. Its weird.
Edited: we've been empty nesters for almost three years and he still does it.

Dusty gets cold in the winter and snuggles under blankets or will crawl up under my sweater/hoodie (yes, while I'm wearing it), and will slither under the bed covers at night. He is our smallest and youngest kitty but he's also 11lbs so not tiny. He's currently curled up on my lap. busy - we have 4 cats and 5 boxes but the two in the utility room get the most use and yes, one for pee and one for poop - the other 3 are mixed use

Daisy, my 13 year old yellow lab, lets my husband know that dinner is ready. I plate the food on the counter, then bring it over to the table. As soon as the plate clangs on the table (she's pretty much deaf so I don't know how much she hears-or maybe she just watches)--she barks and looks at him to let him know to get to the table--well and to give her some goodies from the table (because we're bad pet parents:)

Not my dog, but a friend's mum's dog who I doggy-sat a couple of times..... She would only eat off a placemat, not out of a bowl. And I had to sit there while she was eating. She would.not.eat unless I was sitting there watching her. She was such a funny little diva (they lost her just before Christmas).

Don't worry about being bad pet parents, we let our dog sit up on a chair at the dining table with us at dinnertime. He doesn't eat at the table, he just sits there watching everyone, hoping someone will fall for his sad puppy dog eyes and slip him some food.

In warm weather we have a fan between the kitchen and dining room. In the morning when my dh makes coffee, he kicks a toy into the dining room for our dog to fetch. Our dog fetches the toy, drops it in front of dh, and then touches his nose to the fan, maybe 20+ times each morning.

My cats stalk me in the evenings, just waiting for me to sit on the couch to watch tv so they can lay on my lap. If I'm not in the family room at what they feel is the appropriate time they will come find me. They wait for me to put a throw blanket on my lap and then pounce. If I sit and don't put the blanket on my lap they get annoyed. Right now I am still in my office and they keep coming in to check on me.

My dog waits for me to wake up in the morning and bats his paws on the ground to get my attention. I have to run to go potty then he wants to lay on the floor and stretch himself doing Dexterity and I rub him all over and he loves this. I do it everyday and some days more often than just in the morning. I love him so very much.

Turriff had so many idiosyncrasies I could be here all day listing them!
When he jumped on the bed at night to sleep beside me, he always made an 'uh-huh' sound when he lay down, as though the bed was just how he wanted it.
He would wake me in the morning by slamming his front paws on to the mattress to make me bounce in the bed. 😄
Whenever I would shout up to DS in his bedroom to come and do something for me, Turriff would wait to see if he appeared. If DS didn’t come down within a minute, Turriff would go and sit beside him in his room, staring at him intently until DS got up and came downstairs. We called him my "enforcer".
He was a good boy and never stole food. However, he would frequently wake me up during the night to tell me DS had left pizza on the kitchen worktop (or ham, or a bit of sandwich, or any kind of food really.) He would get me to go downstairs by lying, telling me he needed to pee, but then would walk past the front door and take me to the kitchen, indicating the food excitedly with his nose, so that I could witness the torment he was dealing with.
He was a real character! 😊

She would.not.eat unless I was sitting there watching her. She was such a funny little diva (they lost her just before Christmas). My dog will only eat if I’m sitting right there next to her. If she’s in the middle of eating and I walk away, she will stop eating and follow me out of the room and the other dog will sneak in and steal the rest of her food. This same dog will never bark, won’t go to the door and whine or anything like that to let us know she needs to go out. She will go to the door between the kitchen and the family room, stop and look over her shoulder at me without making any sound at all, and that’s it. That’s all the notice I’m going to get that she needs to go out. 🤪 It’s nutty.

This little friend starts following me around an hour before dinner. She will carry her bowl and if I sit down, she throws it at me. If that doesn't work, she'll get the other dog's bowl and throw that. If she is out of water, she'll grab that one too. You never have to wonder what she is thinking. 4-22-20 Harley Bowl Back Door by Nancy Tim, on Flickr

My dogs come running any time we open the freezer to get ice. My golden retriever will sit and wait though until you feed it to him. The other dogs don't mind if you drop some ice on the floor for them.

This is not my pet, but my daughter's cat. They lived with us for almost 2 years. Her sweet little guy has the weirdest habit about water. Our water bowl is two sided. One side can be completely full and the other side empty, and he will freak out and scratch and scratch at the empty side and not drink any water until both sides are full. It's hilarious, and I would love to know what is going through his little mind. LOL

When I let the dogs out Scout, our youngest, would come in. If he saw his big sister wasn't in, he would go back for her. She was deaf. We let her cross the Rainbow Bridge 2 weeks ago. The first week he continued to go back outside to look for her.
We have lost 2 of our pups since October. It's a quiet household now. Scout is a pack dog and needs a sibling.

Toby our shih tzu demands an ice tax anytime anyone uses the ice dispenser on the fridge. He could be sound asleep and will pop up, run over, sit and wait to be paid.

Sushi sleeps on my head and grooms me while I fall asleep. He loves the licky tube treats but will only eat them if I squeeze it on to a saucer then hold the saucer for him. He loves sitting on my shoulders and being carried around. There is a tiny chance he's a bit spoilt

I have an area rug in my living room and my dog, Gizmo, will dig and dig at the rug like he's going to dig to the center of the earth, and then he'll rub his face where he 'dug.'
He does this pretty much every evening and it's quite entertaining.

My dog loved ice cubes. But not in her water, and not to crunch... Just to carry around. She always came running as soon as she heard the freezer door open (even if we weren't in the freezer for ice, lol...she came just to check). We'd give her an ice cube and she'd walk around the house with it, holding it in her mouth. Sometimes she'd lie down but still keep in in her mouth. Eventually she'd swallow it, or it would melt. I don't know how her mouth didn't freeze.
She's up on the Rainbow Bridge politely taking any ice cubes anyone offers her.

What are your plans for building your pack? I don't have plans right now. If we get a puppy now that is 2am outings in the cold. I did that with Scout and kept thinking I should wait until it is warmer for a new one. It will be a pound puppy or rescue. Scout is Catahoula/Husky. I would love a full blood Husky but I don't want the escape artist of a Husky. I would love a Golden Retriever. And then I think how nice my floors have looked in the past couple of weeks with no extra dog bunnies laying around. There is a stray cat(I think) here at the church. While I don't want a cat I can't stand the thought of it alone outside. My DD thinks I should try and catch it. That Scout needs someone who will put him in his place. I just know we probably can't wait too long as he is slightly jealous of my grandpuppies when we are together. He likes them, he plays with them, he just doesn't like them to snuggle with his momma. So a new puppy could take awhile for him to get used to. But he does need a younger one to play with.

I waited three days after putting our previous pup down to put down a deposit on the new pup. We ALL needed a new friend. ETA: I just read the post above me after I posted. My last two pups have been potty trained in January and on. My oldest learned in 6 major snowstorms. Now they are 100% snow pups and three inches is up to their bellies.

Our dog Pepper is obsessed with chasing a ball. If you throw it he will bring it back to you for hours if he could. but he won't let you take it from his mouth. And he won't drop it at your feet if you are standing, you must sit in a chair. And then he will carefully place it in the most inconvenient location directly underneath and in the middle of the chair so you can't get to it easily lol. If he has a ball inside, he will play with it by carefully placing it at the very edge of the couch until it inevitably rolls under the couch and then he paws and whines until we get up and get it for him. He can also stand on his back legs longer than any dog I've ever seen! He is the quirkiest but smartest and most loving dog I've ever had and a very spoiled member of our family!

Our 75 lb. doodle has to wipe his face after every meal. He runs as fast as he can from his bowl in the kitchen to the living room, then puts his face down on the carpet, butt high in the air, to wipe one side of his mouth, then dramatically jumps up and repeats that on the other side. Sometimes it requires a big push-slide with his back feet to really wipe it well, kind of like a base runner sliding into home on their side. It makes us laugh every single time. He also somehow instinctively knows when it's 730 PM and is time to "brush his teeth" with a Greenie and will stand in front of us and stare until we go get the Greenie.
Sometimes also when we ask him if he needs to poop, he will ignore us, but then pick up a toy and play really aggressively until we ask again, and then RUN to the door as fast as he can as if we hadn't just asked him and needed a physical sign that he needs to go. It's like he has to get mad before he can poop, lol.

Our dog likes to dismember her stuffed toys and keep the body parts as trophies, like some kind of serial killer. So when she sleeps in our bed she’s got a big pile of wings, tails, arms and legs she likes to surround herself with.

My cat Thomas likes to drink out of the bathroom faucets exclusively, which I know some cats do, but I bet no other cats have 3D-printed faucet extenders that funnel the water further out so it's easier to lean in and lap it up. (Courtesy of my engineer husband.) Thomas likes to drink out of all the faucets so each one has its own specially-designed extender. He goes into the bathroom of choice and meows, and one of us goes in, clips on the extender, and then he jumps up and drinks. He has us well trained.

I just thought of another weird thing my dog does as he was doing it. He likes to lick the couch over and over. There's nothing on the couch to lick other than the couch itself but he'll do this over and over until I tell him to stop licking the couch!

He drags them out of the trash can. The funniest thing he ever did was early on as a puppy. He had a long stuffed duck. I walked into the den one day to see him standing over the water bowl. He had his foot on the duck's head keeping it under water. We all knew he was psychopath puppy at that point!
