My school was featured on our district’s blog for our Lunar New Year’s Celebration last Friday. It was an exhausting, yet magical, day complete with an assembly with a dragon dance! We are a Korean Immersion school, reflective of the neighborhood (I’ve lived here for 20 years now).

happy year of the rabbit!!! I love seeing our lunar new year's parade on tv.. there are so many schools that participate.
my son was born in hong kong in the year of the rabbit. he was due on lunar new year, and i was worried, cause it was the one 2 day period when everyone had off work!!. but the little rascal came two weeks later. he did have a stuffed rabbit. I believe it is still around 35 yrs later.
ps, he took 4 yrs of mandarin in high school.. nothing like being the token white kid..

My ES is less than 10% white, so the 1 white kid in my class probably feels at bit like being a token too. We have a wonderful mix of Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian, Nepali, Russian, Afghani, Pakistani, El Salvadorian, Moroccan and African Americans in my room. I wish I had taken an Asian language rather than the Spanish and French that I took.
