about last night's winner?
I found him very annoying and hope the Jeopardy staff will educate him over the weekend on certain points of Jeopardy etiquette such as:
1) Stop interrupting Ken 2) Try to slow down a bit, it's hard to understand him sometimes, he speaks so quickly 3) Enough with the fist pumps! I find that such a rude gesture.
Just my humble opinion.

Having 2 kids with various speech and communication disorders I would never tell someone how to speak.
The person could be nervous. I speak fast when nervous.
Now my kids have a code word of turtle talk but this is something they have worked on in private speech and something they understand.
I would never tell someone I am not familiar with to slow their speech down, especially if I don't know if they have a known speech condition/disability. Most I would do is ask them to repeat if necessary.
A bit of a judgemental post. 🤷♀️

Also fist pumps are big and is what every doctor, nurse, tech, etc uses at Children's Hospital as well as all therapists my kids have.
Even adults do it. It's fun.

I certainly did not mean to sound judgmental about anyone with a speech disorder and I apologize if I made you feel that way. I know he was probably nervous, but I found it difficult to understand him at times.
I said it was my opinion only. I must have been in a bad mood last night because he just got on my nerves.
Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

I found him to be extremely annoying, and I'm sad to see the previous champ leave. At least he'll be back for the Tournament of Champions. pantsonfire Are you saying this new champ has some type of disability? If so, then I'll be less annoyed. However, people with disabilities can still learn "rules" -- which I put in quotes because things like excessive displays of enthusiasm might not be a Jeopardy "rule" but they are "customary", lol. Like all that arm waving, etc.

Enough with the fist pumps! I find that such a rude gesture. This is a particular pet peeve of ours. They are appropriate for some shows but not Jeopardy. The climate for Jeopardy is a little more reserved. We were out and did not see last night's show. They tape two weeks of shows over 2 consecutive days so there may not be time to coach him on different behavior. I guess we will see on Monday.

I agree with you. I couldn’t understand him and the clues he was calling out- he was saying the numbers weird which was confusing. Ken had to clarify a few times. I was sad to see Trey go.

I very rarely have much of an opinion on Jeopardy contestants, but I found myself rooting for him about halfway through the show. I found him contagiously enthusiastic.

I find that a lot of the contestants’ speech patterns to be kind of grating sometimes, definitely some more than others. The ones that Speak too quickly are a majority of them, but there seem to be a lot that do this. Others that just have characteristics that annoy me - the girl Mattea from Canada for example.
He (last night’s) was a bit annoying but was originally from Vermont so I was trying to cut him some slack. 😆. I agree the outgoing champion has been one of my recent favorites and was sorry to see him go.

They often just use the first number or first two to pick, which is fine, but that just doesn’t work with 1000 which he was trying to use 10. He learned after the second try to give that up. 😆

I seriously wonder if he’s on the autism spectrum. Probably not but he reminds me of some people I know that are on the spectrum.
Who knows?

I didn't get to see it. Jeopardy was pre-empted for a golf tournament here.

I didn’t get to see it either. There was a breaking news report that took up the whole half hour. I even tried to find it on demand, and it showed the same thing. I will definitely watch on Monday.

We have now watched Jake. He's okay. Not the most annoying person they have had. I'll give you one guess as to who DH was rooting for on Monday's show.

Yipee!! The older woman Patti beat Jake! I love that. He is very hard to watch. I think every female bookworm I know would have been able to answer final jeopardy and yes I know I am totally stereotyping but it did not help that neither male answered correctly. I thought, hey, I can name that final jeopardy answer with a one word clue.

That final question was, in my opinion, super easy!

Final question was obvious to most people I think. Surprised not everyone got it. My husband knew it. He had never read the original book either. Just knew the name.

To me, it is obvious that Jake is neurodivergent. Quite likely autistic. He has little ritual things he does with his hands. And funny expressions on his face. I totally liked him and rooted for him although I really liked Troy before him.
But Patti just stole my heart and I was rooting for her Hard. I was disappointed when I saw the clue, because I thought it was so obvious, but I guess not, although he at least got the Austen part right. I’m so happy for Patti.

Yes I also thought the final question was really easy and I was surprised that the two men didn't get it. I'm sure it was obvious for Patti, who as a retired school teacher and a bookseller must have read "Pride and Prejudice" at some point. lol
I'm thrilled to be rid of Jake, and I'm happy that he didn't get to five games so that we don't have to see him back for the Tournament of Champions.

Shoot I deleted all my saved episodes last night and didn't watch it. (I don't always watch and just delete to catch up).. I wonder if I can find it online somewhere.

Doing the happy dance that Jake is off my screen. I am a Jeopardy! nerd and record the show daily. Yesterday I just couldn’t take him so I stopped at the first commercial and deleted it. Too bad. I should be able to find it on YouTube. I would have whiffed FJ! I’ve never read any Austen and have no intention. There was a PBS series a few years ago Death Comes to Pemberley.

I'm glad jake is gone though he did show a lot of good character in his response to losing, unlike Yogesh a few weeks ago! It seems like lately there have been more annoying contestants than ever before.
I didn't really think that he has a speech impediment at all, but he talked SO fast it was very hard to understand anything he said. He redeemed himself in the end for me with his grace toward Patti when she beat him.

I'm another that thought the clue was so easy, and kind laughed that neither men got it correct. Jake didn't bother me neither as much as Yogesh a few weeks ago - but I'm a fast talker, so that part really didn't bother me.

What was the final question? I missed it also and looked it up. This is what found and assume it is correct…but no guarantee. 😄 Published in 2011, P.D. James’ final novel, “Death Comes to Pemberley”, was a sequel to this novel from 200 years earlier

He was hard to watch and Patti was just awesome. I would imagine when she saw the category, she did internal backflips!! I have not read much Jane Austen, but, even I knew the answer!
