Hi everyone! I don't have a lot of plans today ... I should do some online safety courses for work but I will probably procrastinate and leave that until tomorrow! I started watching the Pamela Anderson documentary on Netflix late last night and fell asleep so maybe I'll go back and give that another shot! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I DETEST the mall but I LOVE online shopping ... it's kind of an issue! Dinner is up in the air ... I might get together with my girlfriend and have takeout ... if not, I'll probably have cheese enchilada's Who else hates the mall and loves online shopping? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

I hate the mall and shop for most clothing for myself on line!
I have beef stew cooking in the crock pot. I bought frozen crusty rolls to bake to go with it. It’s very cold here so great comfort food we!
I have a question about preparing fresh green beans. Do you remove (cut or snap off) both ends of the bean? I always removed both ends but then saw someone cooking them on TV and they left on the tiny little end. I decided to start leaving it on. Well, dh told me to please remove them because they “tickled his esophagus”! Of course he was joking about the tickling but not about removing the ends. He didn’t like them on his beans! I still remove both ends. 😊

I am a total online shopper leannec. The only thing I like to shop in person for is books. I like to browse the bookstore and be surprised by what I find. I've had a slow morning. I'veanaged to clean myself and the kitchen. Drink loads of coffee. All while listening to Bono tell me his story. Have I mentioned how much I love this book and would listen to Bono tell me anything? ❤️ I'm just a bit I'm heading on a 45 minute drive back to my hometown to go to a mini psychic fair. My friend Kimberly will be doing tarot card readings there. I have some yarn for her. This is a very big deal for me. Because I am going out of the house to an unfamiliar place all by myself. And it's been a really long time since I ventured out of the house. But I keep telling myself I need to get out. So I'm going. Right? Push me, push me girls. They are also kicking off our local roller derby tonight. I invited my niece to go. Again I thought I would push myself out of the house. However being a very social preteen she would rather hang with friends than her old aunt. So I will come home after the psychic fair and cook some steaks for dinner tonight. And I will drag all my scrapbook stuff out to the dining room and print pics for a day of scrapbooking tomorrow. I still cannot seem to utilize Esther's room as a craft space.

KelleeM I chop off the ends too. I don't know why. I suspect it came from my upbringing where we never ate fresh ones and the ones in the cans don't have them. Canned veggies are a total no no in my house. Except diced tomatoes.

Maybe on the tarot reading leannec. I have my friend do one periodically for me. She's disabled and so she does this to make extra money. And she is very good at it too. She is also a reiki master and she taught me how to do reiki as well. She will teach classes for extra money too.

We have had a lazy day today. DH did our big grocery shop this morning, then I went for a walk. Since lunch, we’ve had the football on TV and o have been knitting and looking up when something interesting (goal, red card) happens. DH is making a shepherds pie for dinner and it is smelling really good. jeremysgirl - good for you making yourself get out of the house. I also tend to stay home unless I really force myself, and so often I have a good time when I do move my butt out the door. It is just the anticipation that gets to me. scrapmaven - I have never been a big shopper, except for craft supplies and books. Right now, I am trying not to buy anything unnecessary, so not going to the mall or other shopping areas is working well for me. I am also trying to be restrained with my online shopping. KelleeM - I rarely cook fresh green beans, mostly we use frozen vegetables, but when I do I cut off both ends.it is what my mum did, so I do the same.

I love, love, love online shopping! I love knowing pkgs are on the way. During covid I said my main hobby was tracking packages. I think I have a brown cardigan to go with sme brown/pink/cream tweed look pants today. I also love to browse bookstores and thrift stores. Anything second hand. Libraries, Of course. Nick and I have date nights at Barnes and Noble and coffee shops to read and chat. Between Torrid, Amazon and Instacart for groceries, I keep my pups' animosity for delivery drivers alive -- how dare those people bring us stuff?? We are at wrestling regionals, supporting our bonus kids. So much for sleeping in! But I'm so glad we are here. 2 of our three won their fist match and will wrestle again. As far as I can tell they don't have any parents here. So we are the cheering section. We talked about going out for a late lunch afterwards. I have stuff for tacos later, or tomorrow. I hope everyone is having a fun and/or restful day! Good luck jeremysgirl on your adventure. I was SO ready to hole up at home after yesterday's many errands and testS. Even though several were "fun" stops/rewards (lunch out, library) it was way too people-y out there. Crazy drivers and so so cold. I have never been so happy to retreat to a recliner with puppies and a fire for the evening. We do have a couple stops today too. Library again and I am baking for students this week so I need store for 3 dozen brownies. Take care, friends!

My dog doesn't even move tmarschall. She'll lift her head up and see if she recognizes who's at the door, if she recognizes someone she will get up and greet them. If not she's too lazy to move. Haha... They say by 4 pm our temp is supposed to get above freezing. And apparently it should be 44 by Tuesday. After the deep freeze we've been in 4r is going to feel downright tropical .

I hate malls, so I do 99% of my shopping online. I rarely go to the mall and if I do it's w/a purpose and I'm in and out, quickly. KelleeM, we always cut off both ends of our beans. jeremysgirl, absolutely go and have some fun. Were I you, I'd get my favorite beverage, in my case Starbucks and put on my favorite tunes and cruise down the highway. I had a Tarot reading one time and she was oddly right on, but one thing was sort of funny. Dh and I were in a relationship, but not married. So, she kept inisisting that a red headed man w/a beard was coming into my life and would be in my life for years.I think she even said that he would meet my family. I kept insisting that I was not interested in another relationship, because I was very happy in mine. We argued. 2 weeks later I got a temp job a/dentist as his front office person for a week. After that, I became his patient for many many years. My sister and I were not talking at the time. Bear in mind that this was in a very large city. Anyway, one day I walked in for my cleaning and when I went to sign the register, my sister's name was there. I had never even told my mom his name, because it didn't occur to me. So, I asked permission to go back and walked in on my sister having dental work. Years later my sister and I healed our relationship and he was still her dentist. I moved out of the area. He just retired and my sister was very sad, cause he was a great dentist. I forgot to mention his red hair and beard! She saw other things, too, but that was the fun one. Sorry for the novel. We've been at the other house and today we'll go back home. I had a nice visit w/cousins yesterday. Dh's family has become my family over the years and I am so blessed. Today I have to get laundry done and I have to pack. I am going on a medical trip to my favorite specialist (no needles only relaxing stuff) and am sending my luggage ahead on Monday. **GypsyGirl**, I have to diss you this year and I apologize in advance. I'll miss your cute flamingo shoes. I'm going to be very focused on treatment and he wants me to just rest and sleep in btwn w/minimal activity. After this past year my body is toast. I'll be retreating, sort of. Currently, dh just got back from the new donut place and is enjoying a death by chocolate donut topped w/chocolate cream and a hard shell chocolate piece and a creamy chocolate middle. I'm dying over here. OK, I'll shut up. Have a great day, everyone. jeremysgirl, get those tunes ready and go have fun. Fill us in later.

Sorry that I won't be able to catch up with you this time, but next time for sure! There would be no flamingo shoes this time as it has been way too cold! This past week I've been pulling out my warm weather gear from KZ! So if there is the least bit of room in that luggage you are sending ahead, please tuck in some warm and sunny weather! Safe travels and make the most of your treatment and retreat time! If you do need something while here, just let me know though!

Hello Friends I've been in a big funk since craftykitten passed away . I 'attended' her funeral on Thursday via Zoom. It was a really lovely service and a fabulous tribute to a wonderful, kind and very special friend. Sending love and hugs to those who need them We're having braising steak cooked with onion gravy and potatoes in the Instant pot tonight, served with peas.

Yesterday I gave Alex, my trainer, the piece of my pecan pie. Then I went to walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes as a warm up. He ate the pie and when I met up with him again he said that, although he hated to stroke my ego any further than he already has, it was the best pecan pie he has ever eaten. I'm getting ready to marinate a tri-tip roast for dinner. I'll be the outlier. I would much rather shop for clothes in person. I hate having to send things back. This is for our Texas peas:

DH and a buddy have gone four wheeling. It’s freezing cold outside but DH said that it wouldn’t be muddy! I don’t expect that they will be gone long but for now I have the house to myself.
I talked to YDS last night. Grand dog Hammer is doing well. He’s now eating and drinking and drooling.
Supper tonight will be leftover pizza from last night.

I had one "sleeper" who had the hardest time staying awake in my class This reminded me of a horrible incident when I was at LSU. My freshman year I had 3 Saturday classes. The theory was to keep freshman on campus and not head home every weekend. So after a Friday night of partying, I could barely keep my eyes open for an 8:30 algebra class. I was resting my chin on my hand and evidently I fell asleep and my face hit the desk. Color me embarrassed! But it woke me up!

Ugh...Saturday classes?? As a professor I would revolt!! They got rid of them a few years later. I will say that one of my Saturday classes was awesome. It was a class in Arts and Crafts for Elementary Education majors. The teacher was from CA and we called him by his first name. We did things like put together model cars and for our final we had to make a kite from scratch ~ no kits allowed. Then we took them out to the parade grounds and flew them while he filmed us. It was so much fun. He asked what grade we thought we deserved for the class. I said an A just for going to class on a Saturday. (I also put a lot of effort in!) But I got my A! He didn't last long ~ I think he went back to CA.

I rarely give them other than open book knowledge checks to encourage reading. I also ask students to call me by my first name. A few of them aren't comfortable with it so they call me some version of Professor Tracy or Ms. Tracy...occasionally Professor LastName. As long as it isn't Mrs. MaidenName, as that's my mother, and NO. I think grading is problematic. But that's a long discussion better suited for elsewhere probably.

I really need to stop telling you all how good I feel because it backfires. I did feel really good yesterday I got up this morning and it really hurt to breathe so a friend took me to urgent care. I have acute bronchitis, thankful that I didn’t go into pneumonia.
I am now the proud owner of a nebulizer. They gave me a treatment there and I open my lungs really good so they sent me home with one meds. I just used it for the first time and all is good. Anyone else here have one? My brother did me a huge favor and came and got Harper and she’s going to hang out at the doggie hotel for a couple of days

Long time no chat, friends! It's been a busy few weeks with work, but I got to have dinner with two of my favorite coworkers on Thursday. My goodness, I think we all needed that dinner. We all share the same sentiments about a lot of work-related stuff. We were there for 3 1/2 hours, and if it wasn't 9 and all of us had work the next day (they both work remotely and were in town where work is/I live), we could have been there longer (sorry, restaurant!).
Tonight's dinner is our staple sweet potatoes and steak.
Hope you have all been well!

Projects are so much more effective than tests. I almost never test ... I teach grade 7 Humanities ... tests are useless ... the latest project was a timeline on index cards that were then strung together ... I'll hang them on my walls I think grading is problematic. But that's a long discussion better suited for elsewhere probably. I agree ... the whole education system puts too much pressure on outcomes and not on processes!

Dinner is a lasagna that I have put together...I haven't made one in a very long time...in fact I think the last one I made was for my Mom and she died in 2012 😱😱😱😱😱 Yikes!!!! Anyway I'm sure it will be good...I have meatballs and sauce I made a few weeks back to have with it. Also some crusty bread....however I don't think I'll need bread. However a nice cab sav is breathing in preparation!!

I’ve been an inveterate home shopper since grade school and avoid the mall like the plague. I used to do my gift shopping from those little catalogs full of cheap odds & ends … I forget the names. But back in the ’60s, there weren’t any bank cards or debit cards. You had to mail a check or money order with your order form. So I would give my mom the cash and she would write a check. Then I’d kick back and wait a month or so for my things to arrive. I like how we do it now better. And I always snip both ends of the green beans. I like my food to be as far removed from its natural state as possible. jeremysgirl, I’m glad you got out and did something fun. JoP, I’m sorry for your grief over the loss of craftykitten. We’re all sad, but you’re the one who’s really been hit hard by it. I’m thinking of you. christine58, hope this does the job of kicking what’s wrong with you. You deserve to feel better.
