My stepdad had this surgery on January 17 for two aneurysms. Since then he has had a fever, pain, heartburn/pain in his chest, fatigue, etc every day. He took antibiotics at first but it didn’t seem to help. He and my mom have called the doctor multiple times and they basically just say that unless he has a fever over 101.5 not to worry and that some people just react poorly to the materials that they use for the stent. Often times he will have a lower fever during the day but then at night it goes up. Today he went to the doctor and had chest pain. They said his heart was fine but his liver numbers were really high. They attribute that to taking Tylenol until a few weeks ago.
I’m curious if anyone has had this surgery or know someone who had, and if so, did you have anything similar afterwards? Sometimes I feel like my mom and stepdad aren’t as proactive with demanding answers, but they have had bloodwork, ct scan, etc. Does anyone else have suggestions on what else to ask for or to look for? Thanks!

I most certainly don't like their answer of "some people just react poorly to the materials they use for the stents." That doesn't help him in any way.
I would suggest he go back in to have his liver numbers looked at in a few weeks.
Did he mention that his temp is going up at night? Perhaps they should start charging his temp so that his Dr can see that his temp is up a lot and that it is rising at night.
My mom burst an aneurysm on New Year's Eve 1999, some people are fun like that 😵. She did not have problems like you are describing.

They are supposed to be getting the liver numbers done again in a week or two. My mom said she would call the surgeon tomorrow because stepdad had chills and higher fever again after they left the doctor today and is feeling crummy. He hasn’t really done much of anything since he had the surgery a month ago. I hope that they are persistent with the doctor because they need to figure out what is going on.

I have no experience or knowledge...
I understand some discomfort. But I would think with the stent he should be feeling better every day...
Not sure I like the comments from the doctor's office .

I am so sorry he is struggling like this and I'm sure your mom must be quite worried. I too hope they will be the squeaky wheel, this just doesn't feel right.
