I'm no Nikki Haley fan but WTF was that?
Women over 40 are no longer in their prime? He really said that out loud? I swear how does this guy still have a career? They need to let that db go. What an ass.

Yeah, I feel like every post in this thread is going to have an "I'm no fan of Nikki Haley" opener followed by a "WTAF Don Lemon? ?" I am priming just fine, my dude.

Without context, I'm not sure what to make of this. Did he mean she is not in the prime of her life in general? Which would be a total asshole comment. Or did he mean she is not in the prime of her political career? Which is, IMO, the truth.

I'd like to see the video clip.
What is the definition of prime? Cause if she is not, neither is he. Come on, Don - do better.

Without context, I'm not sure what to make of this. Did he mean she is not in the prime of her life in general? Which would be a total asshole comment. Or did he mean she is not in the prime of her political career? Which is, IMO, the truth. Here's the quote from AP NEW YORK (AP) — Don Lemon startled some colleagues on CNN’s morning show Thursday with his implication that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, at age 51, was past her prime. Lemon, with “CNN This Morning” co-hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, was discussing Haley’s suggestion a day earlier that politicians over age 75 should be subject to mandatory mental competency tests. President Joe Biden is 80 while another GOP presidential candidate, former President Donald Trump, is 76. “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry,” Lemon said, explaining why he was “uncomfortable” with the age discussion. “When a woman is considered to be in her prime — in her 20s, 30s and maybe her 40s.” “Prime for what?” Harlow replied. Lemon said that if you look it up on Google, a woman is considered to be in her prime at those ages. Harlow tried to clarify what Lemon was referencing: “I think we need to qualify. Are you talking about prime for childbearing or are you talking about prime for be being president?” “Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just saying what the facts are,” Lemon replied. “Google it.” He brought up the subject again an hour later, when commentator Audie Cornish joined the discussion. Like Harlow had earlier, Cornish said the idea of “prime” that Lemon was referring to was about reproductive years, and didn’t concern mental health and aging." IDK why he's change it later that he meant her reproductive years when they were discussing Biden's age and his competency for being President. He meant what he said the first time. His apology is not much better.

Or did he mean she is not in the prime of her political career? Which is, IMO, the truth. I completely disagree with that. I think a women in her 50s would be in her prime for her political career. In fact I couldn't think of anyone better to be a president of senator. Why are men considered in their prime in their 50s and 60s politically then?

I'm not that poster, but she was last in elected political office six years ago -- perhaps that is what they meant? I think it generally looks like someone is more active politically if they are a governor, senator, etc.

This has nothing to do with her age or whether she's capable. My comment was because she's not currently in service. Meaning the prime of her political career thus far was being Governor of South Carolina. That's been over. She worked under Trump admin. That's been over. Where is she currently serving that she is using any of her political skills in a way that would indicate she's moved up from being Governor? That's what I meant. Again, nothing to do with age.

Not to put words in jeremysgirl 's mouth, but I think what was meant here is that her political career is kind of in a lull, not in it's prime, as she is no longer a governor or UN ambassador. She has not been in a high profile "position" since 2018 I don't think. I don't think it meant that she, at her age and stage in life, is no longer in her peak and able to run for office. ETAL LOL, we were posting at the same time.

Oh, and just to be silly, I'm 47 and I still have my eye on two more positions (moves upward) so I'm not even sure I'm in the prime of my career either. I'm not sure I have peaked yet. I fully support the idea that women at 50 still have a lot of value in them.

Ick. He's been a bit off the rails lately. I feel like he thinks he's the king and untouchable and can say whatever he wants. Has always come off as arrogant and smarmy. I think he's headed for a fall.

I think he should be fired.
He had two hours of air time to take back or clarify what he said, (and his colleagues tried to help him do so), but he instead chose to keep repeating his misogynistic remarks.

God knows a good woman’s prime could only be related to her appearance and reproductive capacity.
I was mad about the comment when I read it but the video is so. much. worse. That he was sitting there with two women, said that, and doubled down on it… just grrrrr

Yeah the non apology sent me over the edge which was what prompted my post. I checked out his SM and boy, does he think really highly of himself. Does he think he's actually a celebrity? Networks fired that couple from ABC for having a private affair OFF camera, but he's still there! Go ahead and insult all of us women past our prime, meh, no biggie.
