Hi everyone! It's my mum's 76th birthday today so I need to go pick up her cake ... Black Forest ... I don't eat cake but she and the dd's will enjoy it tonight! We will be ordering Chinese food for dinner ... easy peasy birthday party! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I never wear crop tops ... ever ... not even an option! The afternoon will be spent playing Scrabble and teaching my mum to use her first iPhone What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? How are the "under the weather" Dinner Peas feeling? Have a fun Saturday everybody!

Happy Birthday to your mom leannec! I’ve been to the gym then ran some errands. Getting ready to start some laundry. We are attending a fundraiser tonight. It’s at a beautiful venue. There will be music and food trucks. I am really forward to it. Have a fabulous day!

Happy Saturday everyone. Not much happening here this weekend. Our dinner out last night was lovely, and we are going back in just over a month as they are having one of their ‘South African Wine Nights’ - a 5-course menu with paired wines. DH is just going to ask a few of his work colleagues who have been to wine events with us before to come along as well. This weekend is one to avoid the inner city of Munich, as the UN Security Conference is on, and all sorts of important people from all over the world are here to talk about international security issues, in particular the situation in Ukraine. Roads are closed and transport diverted, so it’s just easier to stay home.
Dinner here tonight is stuffed aubergines. They are almost ready, and smell delicious.

It's my mum's 76th birthday today so I need to go pick up her cake ... Black Forest ... Happy birthday to your mum! <3 Dinner here tonight is stuffed aubergines. They are almost ready, and smell delicious. I had to google these to see what they were! I don't recall ever having them ... Maybe sliced, in other dishes but not stuffed. Sounds really good though! :-) I am working on year end reports and tax stuff. So very fun! LOL My back and bum are sore from sitting in the chair at the computer for so long! I am trying to get back in a routine where I plan a weekly menu and shop once a week. I'd like to use up stuff in our pantry and freezer to save $. Plus, I am bored with our regular recipes. Wanna try some new stuff and also avoid having to run to the store all the time. Hehe! I may post it on this thread if that's ok?

Good morning! I'm doing laundry, cleaning the oven and hopefully will start organizing my photos from our trip last Sept/Oct so I'm ready for the crop next month. Dinner is up in the air, maybe horseradish meatloaf.

Hi everyone! We got a chance to sleep in this morning and we took it! We just got back from picking up a cabinet from Home Depot that will round out a new back of cabinets for the kitchen redo. I'm so excited for this project. We will do it in stages and much of it ourselves, but eventually it will be so much more functional! More cabinets, new countertops, sink and backsplash!
We are planning to go out for our belated Valentine's dinner later. We are on our way to run errands and work a bit today, so we will pick something up for a late lunch to tide us over.

Tonight might finally be the turkey soup. Still trying to clean out the freezer. (My nephew is buying his first house, too, and he’s local + he cooks, mostly meat. As soon as he moves in, he’s getting half the meat in my freezer since I hardly cook anymore.) Happy birthday to leannec’s mum! styxgirl, aubergine is just what the rest of the world calls eggplant. Please do post your menu plans. We all need the help.

Hey all - taking a break from my organizing binge. We're going out to dinner tonight, although it's a pretty popular place so have a 8:00 pm reservation - I may need a before dinner snack!

Well, I'm glad we are flexible around here...we did get the cabinet, and I made it to a very nice quilt store. I found a few additional fabrics for my quilt project. I will use some coupons for a new plexi ruler before I get started. Hopefully I can find my big cutting mat. I still have half a household's stuff in the garage from when I moved up from Indy. Hoping the city-wide yard sale in May will give Nick his garage back. We have taken a detour to a music store Nick learned about whole waiting in the quilt shop. We are not able to get into the restaurant we chose for Valentine's tonight, so I suggested we deess up anyway but go to our little neighborhood bar/restaurant. We'll save some money and the food is good. It's nice to go where you're a regular. The fancy place can wait. We also have some filets in the freezer that my dad sent, so we have some nice dinners at home planned too.
I am feeling much better. Still not sleeping well. My eyes and sinuses are very dry. But definitely on the mend!

I took my mom into the city today to do some shopping. She’s 80 years old and still drives but only likes to toddle around our small town.
YDS is coming over shortly to change the oil in his girlfriends car. We don’t see him as often as we see our oldest so it will be nice to visit with him.
Supper tonight will be spaghetti. An easy supper in case YDS decides to eat with us.

It was DSO's birthday, and he was adamant that he didn't want to do anything. Well that doesn't fly, especially with his mum (and I'd get the blame haha!) so I invited his and my family to "drop in" for drinks sometime in the afternoon, close to dinnertime. I went to Costco during the day and bought a whole lot of party food: cheese, crackers, dip, party pies, sausage rolls, mozzarella sticks, salt & pepper squid, onion rings. I didn't get time to make him the banoffee pie that I'd planned to make, but luckily my stepmum brought some choc orange brownies over, so I stuck a candle in one, and that was his birthday cake! It's my mum's 76th birthday today so I need to go pick up her cake ... Black Forest ... I very nearly bought a Black Forest cake at Costco for DSO's birthday too! That's all they had left. Happy birthday to your mum.

I am not sure what to have. I am having company tomorrow so there is that. Tonight I could eat fish or steak. I have no real opinion. Maybe kebabs I just don’t know yet. I am glad we have a moratorium on buying food from M&M because we have a very full freezer. He kept buying and buying stuff. I know it’s close by but we have tons and we are both doing keto and don’t want the excess carbs. That said I would like ribs. We have some in the freezer (obviously…)

Hi all! 😊 Happy birthday, leannec's mom! 🎈 We had steak and haluski for dinner tonight. We always make a ton of haluski and pick at it throughout the night. Accidentally dropped some on the sheet pan we put the steak on (they were thicker cuts, and we like to ensure the meat's cooked through, so we put it in the oven for a little after pan searing it), and oh.my.goodness. So tasty (and all we season our steaks with are salt and pepper). Steak is why I could never do the vegetarian or plant-based diet my cardiologist recommended (my cholesterol is high, and I'm working on it, thank you very much). Two more days of antibiotics. Who knew something stronger than Cefdinir would be the best thing? 😂 I still have a little ear pain, but nowhere near where it had been. Follow-up appointment is Tuesday. Also went to get the car checked today. DH heard some squeaking in the brakes. The guy at the car place said he was just hearing rust (it is a 10 year old car, after all), but they're completely safe and didn't charge me a thing. I am so fortunate to have found this place, and the manager is incredibly honest. While I was waiting, he was speaking to someone on the phone and recommended he (the customer) buy the parts and they'll do the labor and it will save him ~$400. Who does that anymore?!

My poor step-mom (94) broke her pelvis and a bone at L5 Thursday night. We were up all night texting with my step-sisters as they waited at ER. Then yesterday finally got sent to a rehab place, as she didn't need surgery. She was the most difficult patient last night and said she didn't care if she would never walk again but wants to go home with a caregiver. Today she is cheery and not arguing about staying. What a night of sleep does! I woke up to my back going out. The positive side is DH is making tri-tip, jasmine rice and roasted squash. Yay! leannec happy birthday to your mom. Regarding crop tops, buy them in the tall sizes and you will be set!

Happy Birthday to your DSO, AussieMeg. Marina, I'm sorry to hear that your stepmom was so injured, but glad that she's avoiding surgery. I hope that your back is much better by morning.

well sushi was not tonight. I did drag my dh out to do our little 1/8 mile trek to the bench at the ocean cliff.. with the dog. that is about how much he can walk on his crutches.
so I made teriyaki salmon, pilaf, sauteed mushrooms, and salad. healing thoughts to all who need them.

Started painting the basement at 7:15. Thank goodness dh helped. He needs to finish adding some trim then I’ll caulk it and paint it. I’ll be so happy when this is done. I can barely walk after all the up & down on the ladder. We ordered pizza because we were too tired to cook anything. Happy birthday to your mom leannecHappy birthday to your SO AussieMeg. My Costco has never had peppered squid Your poor stepmom Marina. I’m glad she’s staying at the facility.

I am scared I have a sore throat. It might be nothing but I am concerned. Again I am mad because I haven’t been sick since early December and we have major drama going to be having to do with water in our house and I am freaking out. Water + a house is never good. I also am stressed about the new car because my dad’s friend wants me to teach him the same car. He has 3 kids who can teach them not me I mean really? The guy has said this 4x. Ugh. He doesn’t have dementia but I am starting to take him seriously. I haven’t even driven the car. I now see how people become alcoholics. I could have had 5 drinks today (I had none) but could have.
