I read Exiles by Jane Harper; thanks to pjaye for mentioning Harper had a new book out. This was the third in her series about Aaron Falk, an Australian police officer. I enjoyed it so much, I went back and re-read the first two books in the series, The Dry and Force of Nature. They're all good, and should be read in order. Harper also has two excellent stand-alone novels. I also just finished The Exiles thanks to pjaye (5 stars from me). I enjoyed it so much that I went back and read her revised version of Orphan Train, which was very good as well. Both were thoroughly researched, with compelling storylines and beautifully written. I just started The Nightingale, long overdue on my to read list.

I finished Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. I would give it 4 stars. I am currently reading Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood. I had read another one of her books and really enjoyed it. I read tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, and really like it. I didn't think I would when I started it. 5/5 also read Love on the brain 4/5. She's starting to get very predictible now though. All her books have the geeky hunk, and geeky girl, and somewhere a cat is involved, and his best friend did it. I resisted...hard, but finally read It ends with us by Colleen Hoover 5/5 and it Starts with us 4/5 I first read The Love Hypothesis and really liked it, but said I wouldn't read another just for the reason you mentioned. But I wanted an easy book to read on a flight. This one isn't quite as good as the first one I read.

I can't take credit for your The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline...the one I read was Exiles by Jane Harper. However you've reminded me to put your one on my TBR list because I did enjoy Orphan Train as well.

Last week I read, Such a Fun Age and really enjoyed it. I'm also about halfway through Seven Dirty Secrets. I accidentally got it on audiobook and like the story, but don't love the narrator. I'm just starting The Swimmers, but I'm only on about page 10 so I have no opinion yet. If you are a swimmer, I would predict you would love this book - it's like the author is in your brain!! It was my favorite read of 2022. If you are not a swimmer, I will be interested in your thoughts on the book - much of the allure to me was how vividly the author was able to describe the smells, the sounds, the awareness of other swimmers in the pool, what we think about when swimming, etc. But I also thought the story was very good. Report back, please! I finished the book. I would give it 3 stars. I didn't love it, but it wasn't something I wanted to abandon. I actually liked the second half better. I'm not a swimmer but my mom was a nurse in a nursing home while I was growing up and I worked there while I was in college. I have a lot of experience with that part of the book and it was a good connection. I can see how if you are a swimmer the first half would be a good connection for you. I'm going to look for other options by the same author.
