It takes my dog about 4 seconds to go up or down our stairs. There are 16 stairs. So that's approximately .25 seconds per stair. On average, he's probably up and down 3 times per day. So that would mean he spends 1.5 seconds on each stair every day. Assuming he doesn't skip any stairs which he absolutely does. SO HOW IN THE WORLD IS THERE ENOUGH DOG HAIR ON THESE DARN STAIRS TO BUILD A WHOLE OTHER DOG?!!?!

I often wonder the same about cat hair...I have 4 cats (all shorthair) but based on how much fur I vacuum DAILY....they should all be bald by now

When we had our dog, I woke every morning and said to dh, I bet today is the day he will be bald, as there is no way he still has hair left.

Yes I'm not sure what it is about the stairs. I'm constantly vacuuming up fur off the stairs, it's like it collects there especially for me.
I'm sure it's actually that the stairs are a high traffic area with smaller square footage for the fur to settle on, if I'm being scientific, but it seems like the stairs cause instant shedding!

I enjoy watching our white dog run across the dark hardwood floor, freshly swept, with hair falling like snow in her wake.
We don’t have stairs so it just collects in the corners and under chairs. Lovely.

I run two robo vacs at least once a day and regular vacuum almost daily.
I cannot understand how two goldens can possibly shed that much.
They are brushed and groomed regularly too.
It’s their magical golden glitter.

Undercoat? My boys don't even use the stairs (not allowed up), and there is still dog hair on them! My boys have to have a good deshed about every 8 weeks. Here they were this morning. Yes, that's just some of their hair but I still love them.

The amount of animal hair I had to vacuum off our stairs every other day just about clogged my vacuum. I had to empty it everytime I used it on the stairs.
I want to know why is it that over a year after the last pet passed away, I'm still finding animal hair despite weekly cleanings?!

Does anyone have a magic tool they use to get hair off couches etc. They are not allowed on them but it seems to fly through the air and land on the couches.

Someone linked up a shedding hair removal tool back around Prime Day that they said they loved. Kind of wish I would have bought one then because now I don’t remember what it was called!

DH is allergic to dogs, but, our low shedding Labradoodle doesn’t bother him. I am staying with a friend right now who has a white shedding dog, and I am like “HTH does one live like this?” I am a total dog lover, but I don’t think I could do it.

You all just gave me another reason why I love my little guys so much, no dog hair. BTW they’re poodles.

I just finished vacuuming the upstairs, watching the canister fill with cat hair. Cats are brushed on the regular. They are by no means long-haired cats. I live and die by lint rollers that I have strategically placed throughout my life (bathroom, both cars, travel size in my overnight bag).
My question is the same: where does all the hair come from? I could brush the cats until they were bald and I'm pretty sure they'd still find a way to shed.

My dog passed away 3 months ago. I have a cleaning lady who comes regularly and I Swiffer and vacuum diligently in between her visits. How am I still finding blonde doggie dust bunnies that are clearly Sadie's and not black hair from the hypoallergenic dog that remains? And they're always in the heavily trafficked areas and not hiding. So odd.

This is the best thing for carpeted stairs. It’s magic. Also excellent for carpet in cars. amzn.to/41fJqzV

Maybe it floats from other levels and settles on the stairs. Also we drag clinging hair on our feet whenever we use the stairs…?

With three husky's I know I will see hair in this house till the day we move and I have to actually have a cleaning crew and deep clean every single nook and cranny of this house. I can vacuum twice a day and during shedding season it doesnt seem to be enough. We brush them outside and I do what I can to contain the loose fur, but I know its all over my town!
