This is one of my go-to baby blanket patterns. It is easy. I like it with blue/green cotton yarn - as in the photo below, but any color combo would look good.

I've made this one but I'm not a beginner. Word of advice for any blanket: take the time to get the first few rows correct and at a good tension. Also, don't count on finishing the blanket in 3 hours as stated. Very few beginners will do it in that time. Baby Blanket

You could do corner to corner, on the original diagonal or you could do rows (I just finished a C2C row blanket). This is a bit holey. I would do a shell, not holey and very forgiving (C2C is also forgiving) if you happen to add or drop a stitch in the shell cluster. I've a few like this: m.youtube.com/watch?v=cGWv1lXRw_Q&t=159sWaffle is a nice squishy solid fabric.

I love Bella Coco.

I've done this one as well and sewn in a string of satin in the border in a contrasting color

Baby BlanketMy daughter made one like that as her first crochet item for her best friend's baby. She found it smooth going. But it definitely took her more than three hours. It was her friend's first baby and he came a few days early and a fast labor. DD was frantically finishing it through the night!

I should clarify…I can knit and crochet but I’m not fast bc I don’t do it often. I’m looking for something easy bc I’m afraid I won’t finish it before the baby is due in Late April. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

I’ve made this one a few times. It’s easy, comes together quickly, and is a great size. Chevron Blanket

My go to crochet pattern is very easy to remember and works up in a 2 row repeat: Cozy Clusters baby blanket pattern by leeleeknits.com
I use this pattern for all size blankets and scarves….

I’m looking for something easy bc I’m afraid I won’t finish it before the baby is due in Late April. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ That's why I like cluster blankets. If you are doing long rows of 75-200 stitches and you drop/add one here and there the blanket gets wavy or shrinks/grows. Or you're stopping and counting to 175 every row. I also find the cluster stitches more mindless and rhythmic when watching tv. I that's why I prefer ones that are forgiving like shell, C2C, C2C rows, granny rows, waffle.

Search Raverly for easy knitted baby blankets. You will find a ton of free patterns on that site. I love Raverly. I am a fairly new knitter and find it very helpful

That’s pretty! What colors would you suggest for gender neutral? She’s waiting for the birth to find out gender.

Search Raverly for easy knitted baby blankets. You will find a ton of free patterns on that site. I love Raverly. I am a fairly new knitter and find it very helpful I was going to suggest this too. Raverly.com is an online site that has 1.2 million patterns of both knitting and crochet. It also offers information on different yarns and lots of other helpful information. To join is free. If you want to search for the patterns I suggest an advanced search. It will pop up with a window on the left hand side of your screen and you can select choices to narrow your search such as crochet or knitting, item you are searching for as far as pattern-baby blanket, level of difficulty and so on. I discovered this site when I was new to knitting during the pandemic and have spent many happy hours there.
