Good morning.
Today I have a dental cleaning and I'll run a quick errand beforehand. I need some Avery sticker paper. Apart from that, I really need to vacuum the front of my house. I could just vaccum the cats and cut out the middle man, but I doubt they'd enjoy that. hehe. Poor kitties are so tired from sleeping all day yesterday that they skipped breakfast in order to keep sleeping. Dinner will either be air fryer fajitas or panko chicken, rice and broccoli.
What's on your menu?
What do you have planned this week?
How was your night w/the new puppy taylortroop? Did everyone sleep, again?
don, it's nice that you join us, here. I hope that we can help you adjust and bring a little bit of light to your kitchen and your life.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, delightful, easy week ahead.

cold rainy day.. cleaning lady coming. leftovers from takeout last night for dinner. last night, they gave me a pizza salad instead of a ceasar salad.. I had to go back and get it changed as I don't like pizza salad. it was sad a bit cause they probably threw it away.

Hi scrapmaven! I slept not too terrible last night. So I was up and at em' (work) at 6:30. I'm always grateful when I log into work early, not because it is an indicator that I didn't sleep great, but it's always nice to get out early. I need to vacuum all my animals. I honestly think my dog is worse than my cats. Little, tiny white hairs all over everything. I'm planning to work all week. I know, I know, no fun! But it pays the bills. And it's really not too terribly bad. I'm keeping up so that's always nice when you don't have to go at high speed pace constantly. I have a Hungryroot box coming this afternoon so hopefully there's something in there for dinner tonight. I can't remember what I ordered but I'm sure it will be good. And even if it's not, it'll be easy and healthy so I'm counting that as a win. I'd like to get some play time on my art class. Everything else will be saved for the weekend. I do have symphony tickets for Saturday night. Chloe is going to go with me.

This week's dinner is Coq au Vin... sans vin. I was too lazy to reduce the wine by half, so I just added in extra chicken broth. I also didn't follow the recipe I found exactly. I bought about 4 lbs of bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs. DH is annoyed he'll have to pick out bones each night, but bone-in is just so good. Too bad skin-on, boneless isn't a thing! I was also using leftover carrots, so I didn't have the full amount from the recipe, but I did double the amount of mushrooms. I also couldn't find a leek, so I just rough chopped up a regular onion. I also didn't want so many shallots, so I just used a small bag of ones I found at the store and figured the addition of the other onion would suffice. The bites I did taste yesterday as I was putting it away were pretty good, and I bought some pasta to stretch it out for the week.

Good morning! Now that we've gotten our fence replaced/repaired, we had an email from our tenant that the fence is leaning. Poor DH ~ he'll stop at the house on his way home from the gym to see what needs to be repaired. I have Crazy Rummy this afternoon ~ 100% chance of rain when we're supposed to get there and the hostess has a steep driveway or steps to walk down. Dinner will probably be spaghetti and meatballs.

I could just vaccum the cats and cut out the middle man, but I doubt they'd enjoy that. hehe Hee hee Yea, they might actually enjoy it! But...wait a second.... I thought you said if your DH heard you vacuuming, you got in "trouble." Don't push yourself, dear! This week's dinner is Coq au Vin... sans vin. That made me laugh. We're getting ready to go to the spinal surgeon, and I wanted to cancel soooo badly! My MRI results are like a long, tragic NOVEL, and I told DH I have ENOUGH going on, so I'm not ready to hear about any more problems. BUT---who knows---maybe he'll give me ALL GOOD NEWS! ( Denial isn't just a river in Egypt! ) My chicken tortilla soup will be even yummier tonight after being in the fridge all night, BUT we'll probably get some takeout since the doctor is near lots of great restaurants.

This week is looking to be busy for me. I have just finished my video call with my young Ukrainian friend - he was very chatty this evening! Today should have been my cleaner day, but he quit on Saturday, so I have a replacement coming tomorrow morning instead. I hope this one is good, and is willing to come back on a regular basis, though I am thinking of changing my regular day to Thursday, as it will fit better with my other commitments. This Thursday afternoon I start tutoring my good friend's 7YO daughter. Mum is Latvian, but daughter has been brought up speaking English and German, as English was the parent's common language. Daughter is now in German school, and learning (obviously) in German, but mum also wants her to learn to read in English, and also to speak English regularly with a native speaker. So now, once a week, I will pick up daughter from school and we will go to a cafΓ© or library or maybe the park in summer and read and chat. It also helps mum out as she is starting a new course designed to get SAHMs back into the workforce, and Thursday she is in class until 4, and daughter finishes at 3, so I will fill that gap. Friday I have committed to attend and take part in the Women's World Day of Prayer. Our church combines with other English speaking Christian church groups to do this each year, though I have rarely been in the past. This year I'm free that day, so I volunteered to take part. So, all in all, a very busy week for me compared to usual.
Dinner tonight is satay chicken with rice. I put the chicken into the marinade early this morning, and DH can cook it on the grill (at least it isn't snowing today!) when he gets home.

Good Morning, Dinner Tribe. Today we have drama to start soon at the Dawn household. Think water. Water in the house is never good.
We are going to have a good day today. Father is going for dinner with book club guys to an awful Asian restaurant but they are the only one of that genre open on Mondays in the city. I would rather cook myself to be honest. My dinner might be something chickeny and I am not sure what that entirely means. It could be a cordon bleu but maybe not. It could be something Japanese but father may or may not wish I had included him in on dinner plans (aka saved for another night).
I hope everyone has a great day today. I am going to go out in a while. BFF (Muslim) and I had a difference of opinion last night and she is mad at me. She way overshared with me and I gave my honest opinion that it was weird what she told me. Well if you donβt want me to know donβt tell me weird things. Simple as that. I just said it was weird. That is a quote. π€·πΌββοΈ
It is supposed to snow again and that may limit what I can do today but I have choices.
I have started wearing one contact in my right eye to get monovision. I love the correction and it isnβt a bother putting it in. Itβs pretty darn cool. I thought I wanted RX sunglasses but I may not need them with the contact situation going so well. I do want some spiffy sunglasses so I could just buy some from the optometrist and call it a day.

lucyg makes good sense cadoodlebug . Your safety comes first. scrappintoee , eyes on your own paper, young lady! Dh said that he WANTS me to vacuum. You must have mis-read. tee-hee. Actually, if the doctor can help alleviate your pain then I'm all for it. You need extreme relief in whatever form that might take, because you deserve to have your happy life back. I'll think pain free thoughts for you. sueg , enjoy your time w/your new friend. How lucky she is to have you as a tutor. jeremysgirl , the symphony is something to absolutely look fwd to. I'm so glad that you're going w/Chloe. rymeswithpurple , my mother made Julia child's Coq a' vin and it was delicious. Yummy. ntsf , stay warm and cozy today.

Oops, I will keep my eyes on my own paper from now on! my mother made Julia child's Coq a' vin and it was delicious. Yummy. Avec vin ou sans? I don't know WHY ryhmeswithpurple saying "sans vin" was funny to me. My Mom also made many Julia Child (and other gourmet) recipes. I've always wanted to make some of them, but haven't. I've always heard her beef bourguignon is amaaazing. Ugh, I am DREADING getting into a GERMY elevator with lots of people who don't wash their hands and/or CORRECTLY cover their coughs and sneezes!

I used to have a cat that loved to be vacuumed! Wand attachment, obviously. Now the pups have decided the vacuum is is a beast worthy of vanquishing and try to attack it. 5lbs of fury vs.a scary loud thing...it doesn't have a chance! I went to have a last minute test done before a procedure scheduled for Thurs, and was told I wouldn't need an appt for a mammogram, so decided to knock that out too. Well, guess what? You need an appt. Argh. Ok, can't win 'em all! So I'm home and getting ready to make some cookies. We have a game night scheduled for tonight with my students but it is a busy time of the semester and the cancelations are coming fast and furious. We will make the call later this afternoon. We are having big thunderstorms too which may keep people home tonight. Most of my student's don't live on campus so it's an extra trip out. We are bummed because we have new games. cadoodlebug are you the one that enjoys Rummicub? Someone on here mentioned it and we got one this weekend. I was looking at thrift stores this weekend to no avail so Nick surprised me with one from Amazon. We have played UNO, Apples to Apples, trivia, and Password which has been very fun. One of our students has very good English but it isn't her first language, so it's been great to help her win that one....she is a great sport and everyone is encouraging. They also love Nick. He loves going but we just heard a cousin of his passed away suddenly, only 60, and I think he'd be fine if we ended up cancelling. It's a long day for him to get up at 4am and not get home til 9:30pm. If we don't get any rsvp's we will focus on promoting the one for next month. March is Social Work Month and we have lots of activities planned. If we go we will pick up something on the way. If we don't I have a pork loin to throw in the oven. Pasta and green beans I think to go with. sueg I love your plans with your little friend and I wish being multilingual was a higher priority here. @jermeysgirl What have been your favorite meals from the new service? Any luck pulling Jeremy over to the dark side? Or modifying any to make them a little more familiar for him? Can't wait to see more puppy pics! Here are mine...they are 3 1/2 yrs but will always be puppies.Β Attachments:

scrapmaven rescheduling isn't possible. We have 24 people signed up and 2 people co-hosting with all the food. And the hostess is leaving tomorrow for spring training in Arizona! Yes! We play RummiKub every evening after dinner. I hope he bought the expensive, thick tiles set rather than the painted on numbers set. I bought the cheap one first and the numbers eventually started smearing off. There is a lot of strategy and you will learn by playing. It's so much fun!

Good morning - hope everyone is doing well. Tonight is an easy dinner which is nice (Iβve been cooking so much lately). We are just having a Costco lasagne and Iβll make a salad to go with it. We have Rummikub- it is fun. I like it. Itβs an easy to pick up strategy game that goes quickly. Nothing much is happening today. I usually try to plan quiet Mondays to ease into the week. I have a mamagram Wednesday and acupuncture Thursday and Thursday night dh and I have our monthly comedy club date at a local casino.

Happy Monday dinner friends. Quick check in. Today and the rest of the week is super busy here.
I'm about to head off to the eye dr. I have a big new floater and flashes of light, ugh.
Dinner will be something quick for DH and lefotver chicken and apples for me.
When I had cats, we always called the vacuum the Purple monster because they would run and hide but always seemed to be into the room I was headed.
Have a great day everyone!

I'm glad that the food is healthy and cooks quickly. I'm liking the ease right now. I have learned the trick is to keep Jeremy out of the kitchen while I am cooking. I served him some cajun chicken alfredo a few weeks ago and the noodles were made from cauliflower. He practically licked the bowl clean. I kind of threw it out there too a few weeks ago that I was tired of his comments. He could just shut up and try it and if he didn't like it, go make a sandwich or something. But I did not want to hear complaints. And he has taken that hint. However, he's been much more willing to try something so I'm glad I spoke up. Turns out guy never knew he liked lentils and quinoa. And now he does know that.

Good Morning! Today is clear and cold. Currently it is -17 . I thought we were past these super cold days. Last night the northern lights were out large and in charge. So beautiful. I would post a pic my son took at his house but every time I try and post a pic it posts sideways. My little chickadee is off on a trip to Australia! From here to there it is 28 hours! She still has a couple hours left on the flight. I hope she is doing okay. I asked her if they bought the seats where you could lay down and she told me, "Mom, we don't have that kind of money!!" I hope she has a wonderful time. I love her sense of adventure. Dinner tonight is coconut shrimp, baked potato, and salad. I didn't do much cooking over the weekend (or any) so, I guess I need to up my game this week! austnscrapaddict I hope your eye is okay. My dh dealt with that over the summer. He had a torn retina. Have a great day!

Tonight I will have rechauffe pork tenderloin pieces, garlic shrimp, salad and green beans or broccoli or both. The shrimp werenβt good. They were garlic shrimp but had no butter or garlic on them but I can easily eat them for dinner if I sautΓ© them in some garlic butter which is sounding better already.

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! It was a nice quiet weekend No plans for dinner, we just had Olive Garden for a retirement luncheon at work so dinner is the last thing on my mind! I ordered groceries this morning to pick up tonight, I haven't done that in forever! I was dreading going to the store tonight since I didn't do it this weekend so this is going to perfect. And it is a raining wet day today, even better to pick it up!

I had a looooong period where I could not wear eyelashes due to eye issues and I was really sad. I don't wear a full face of makeup almost ever, but I have worn eyelashes for years and years. That and lipstick and maybe eyeliner and I am usually good. When I couldn't wear them, I felt like I looked so much older and so tired (the puffiness and inflammation from the actual issues didn't help). I would catch myself in a mirror and I just didn't feel like I looked like myself. I was having some other health issues (RA and a mystery ear thing, and they couldn't get the dry eye issues under control) and it was just a really trying time. I felt terrible, felt like I looked terrible, and just overall bleah. I know in the grand scheme of things it was a small thing, and I probably wouldn't even notice on someone else, but sometimes small things become a part of how we see ourselves. Good luck with your treatment, and I hope if you want your eyelashes you'll be able to have them again soon!

I think sometimes people need to be reminded that just because we do cook, we don't have to...it's not in our dna or job description, and thus snark isn't necessary or nice. And cool that he's found several things he likes that he didn't think he'd be into. That probably makes it easier for you...expanding the options that he's open to. There are a few things Nick loves that I'm not crazy about, that I will make for him and fix something else for me, but I'm not into cooking separate meals either. We usually have tamales, good hot dogs, or sandwich stuff available too. Cajun chicken alfredo sounds great! I have stuff on hand for alfredo, which Nick isn't crazy about, but I bet if I kicked it up with some cajun seasoning, he'd like it better. Especially if I don't call it alfredo. π
