It's 3 am here in Michigan and I have tossed and turned all night. So here I am on peas when I should be sleeping. I'm debating whether I should try to go back to sleep or just give in to the inevitable and make the coffee. Lol! Anyway, I am up to lots of things. I have my Havana. I started a big, wide scarf with filet hearts on it that I thought my funky dressing niece might like for her birthday in April. You might remember I subscribed to Jimmy Beans shawl club last year and did nothing with the yarn. I didn't like the order the colors came in and I didn't like the shawl pattern. But when I took all of them and put them in the order of a rainbow, I liked the colors better. So a rainbow heart scarf it is. I'm also doing Jeanne Oliver's The Art of Wintering class. I really think it's far more about spirit and sensing and appreciating your surroundings than doing a whole lot of creating. And for that I'm glad it's low key. But I've done some sketching and watercolors. I also am working on a quilt. I have 12 of 20 blocks done right now and I need to cut out the sashing fabrics. That might be part of my weekend. Don't tell anyone but I've also ordered fabric for two more quilts. And another quilting book for fat quarters. Haha...so there's more of this in my future. What's everyone else up to right now? Jeremy took some shots of me sewing. And I loved them. So here's a pic of what I'd rather be doing today than working exhausted.

Saw the thread title and thought "that's a bit early for March" and then checked the date...where did February go?
Great photo and this

was totally predictable!! It's the reason 2023 is my finish my wips year. Plus the price of fabric here is getting ridiculous so I'm concentrating on the mountain I have already accumulated.
If you want to have a few names of quilters to follow, just say and I'll send you a few links. There are some very talented people out there.

I finished my Yuletide blanket and I love it, it's huge and squishy and perfect for snuggling under. It's been freezing here so it was the perfect thing to be working on. I'll take a picture of what I'm doing with the leftovers later. I made a minibook about my friends dogs at the weekend, I had so much fun with it I'm making some books to collage in in an attempt to use up some paper and stickers, I could be a while! How is it March already?

Yes, well, I've taken a break from the yarn. I'm only crocheting a bit because I'm waiting for an appointment for my hand. My left is so bad, I've been suffering with pain and numbness. So crochet can only happen in little bits. If you want to have a few names of quilters to follow, just say and I'll send you a few links. There are some very talented people out there. I'd be interested in Facebook groups or Instagram handles. I finished my Yuletide blanket and I love it, it's huge and squishy and perfect for snuggling under. OOH, I want to see it!

Hello March crafters! jeremysgirl I’m so sorry your hand is bothering you. The rest away from too much crochet will surely help. I took at break from my black and cream blanket and made a little Dorothy bag last week. It needs finishing off so I’ll do that tonight. I hoped to start a long line waistcoat yesterday but I didn’t have the right size hook! Unbelievable. So I’ll get that sorted soon. I’m currently standing by the riverside, awaiting my turn in the mobile post office. It’s not warm! The local post office closed unexpectedly so we are stuck using a post office van in a car park until a new Post Master is appointed. How is everyone?

Happy March! jeremysgirl how in the world is your sewing table so clean? 😂 I have no crafty aspirations this month. Crafting will happen as it does. I’ve discovered Animal Crossing and it’s sucked me in. I might need an intervention. We have our last gymnastics meet of the season this weekend and then the state competition 4/1 followed by regionals 4/28 if she qualifies at state. Dd is for sure doing state. Regionals are about 6 hours from us so that will be “fun” and I’ll likely have to take at least 1 day off for travel. Most meets are between an hour and 2 hours from where we live. Her practice 3 times a week is an hour away so the driving is totally normal for us unfortunately. Baseball for DS is in full swing here too. Opening day is 4/1 (yep same weekend as states for DD) so we will have to figure out how to make it all work. I’m looking forward to summer. DS has asked when his temp quilt will be done. I’m hoping summer. 🥰

jeremysgirl how in the world is your sewing table so clean? 😂 This made me laugh. I try to keep things as organized as I can. When I'm not sewing, this is my office desk too. I have no crafty aspirations this month. I'd say it sounds like your weekends are going to be way too busy to work on anything. Summer is coming and hopefully you will get that quilt done before DS asks again. That's got to make you feel the mom guilt. lol

jeremysgirlJust a few of the quilters I like to check out, Teresa Down under has short but very informative videos on how to make a wide range of blocks. Plus I'm really intrigued with her kaleidoscope pattern. www.instagram.com/TeresaDownUnder/Quiet play loves foundation paper piercing and rainbow colours, love getting her newsletter as she highlights other quilters as well. www.instagram.com/quietplay/Great sampler quilt patterns, offers sew alongs to increase knowledge and skills www.instagram.com/gnomeangel/

jeremysgirl meant to say I'm sorry about your hand and the pain you are having. I think a break is a good idea. There is a lot of repeat movements in crochet and I know my hands let me know that it's time to do something else. Feel better soon.

I really am struggling to get a decent picture of the full blanket! This is what I'm doing with the leftovers, it's going to be a little cat sized blanket for the bed.

jeremysgirl, I am sorry about your hand. It sounds like you might have carpal tunnel. Does it bother you during the night? Hope it heals on its own but if not, you might need to see someone. I am beyond frustrated. I started a new quilt last week and my blocks are not square. I found a way to cut my fabric without the ruler slipping, I bought a 1/4" foot to use on my digital dual feed, used my laser 1/4" inch guide, remeasured all of my cut pieces and pulled out my hair and said a few swear words. Everything checks out accurate and yet when I measure the completed block it is anywhere between 1/8" -1/4" off. Sooooooo frustrating. I have never used easy angle and companion angle rulers before and I think the problem might lie there. I will be making a trip to the quilt shop today to see if they can diagnose my problem. I know it is user error. Happy crafts everyone!

Does it bother you during the night? Hope it heals on its own but if not, you might need to see someone. Yes it goes numb when I am sleeping. Both of them do, but the left is significantly worse. Which is kind of weird too because I'm right handed. I've got a call into my PCP so she can get me the referral to the hand clinic. I am beyond frustrated. Don’t do what I did, made a cute cat blanket and for some unearthly reason put it in a hot wash.

Here’s a way to tell if it’s carpal tunnel syndrome versus something else. While it seems like your whole hand is numb/painful, if you really check while you’re having symptoms you’ll see it’s affecting this specific area because of how the nerve runs through the tunnel.

I love them both marysue63! I've got my eye on a pattern that is xoxoxo hugs and kisses that I thought would be fun in reds and pinks.

Jeremy has carpal tunnel surgeries about 7 years ago finsup so his account is consistent with that graphic which is consistent with my pain/numbness.

finsup great work, which is your favourite? My eye always sees your cream one with the rainbow X. I do love that rainbow one! These two are faves: And this is the one that I just finished: They get more advanced the further along in the book you go, so some of them have been quite challenging. Some of the “intermediate” have been more difficult than the “advanced” for me. There’s a written pattern, a chart, and a photo for each one so with all three I’ve managed pretty well so far, but there’s been frogging!

Jeremy has carpal tunnel surgeries about 7 years ago finsup so his account is consistent with that graphic which is consistent with my pain/numbness. Do you have a thumb immobilizing brace you can sleep in? When my thumbs/hands start giving me issues, I sleep in the brace. It helps quite a bit. When I worked at the bank, I had carpal tunnel or tendinitis (can’t remember) and got a cortisone injection. Helped soooo much. Good luck! Our hands are used for so much. It sucks when they’re in pain.

My DH has had numbness in his fingers, and sleeping with a brace has really helped him. jeremysgirl I’m sorry that your pain and numbness is having such an impact on your crochet, but I’m glad you have many other crafty pursuits that you enjoy.
