5/9:
All is well! It was just normal healing. Shew!
Week 5: update 5/8 prayers needed!
There is a dark line about .25-.5” long that has just shown up on the left side on an incision. I sent a photo to the surgeon, and she has asked that I come in to have her look at it tomorrow. I’m scared that the skin may be starting to die there. UGH!
Please say a prayer that everything is okay!
Week 4 post op update 5/6:
I don’t have a ton to report since I don’t have a Dr check up until the 18th, but just a few thoughts…
I’m still beyond exhausted most of the time. That makes it hard to want to do anything. Other than that, I feel great! I still have zingers once in a while, and there’s a spot where there was a blister caused by surgical tape that busted. It’s finally getting better, but is a bit sore. The incisions underneath feel a little sore still at times, but not consistently. Due to this, I am going to wait another week or so to start the scar cream. I had a chair massage on Wednesday just on my neck. It’s a disaster from sleeping at weird angles, and having no real neck support. I’ll have to go back in a couple of weeks because the knots are bad. I started driving two Thursday’s ago. It went well, except that the seatbelt went right over my sensitive “button”. Ouch!
My DH decided he wanted to take me to dinner to celebrate 4 weeks postop, so I had to go buy a new bra. I haven’t had to try them on in years because I just wore the exact same style underwire every day. I kind of know what new size I am (at least for the moment), but you know bras, you have to try them all on because they all fit differently. So, Thursday (which turned out to be a fairly traumatic day overall), I went to Target with the dress I planned to wear last night. I didn’t want to have to pull too many things over my head, so I put the dress on, and just pulled it up to rest on my neck. That made putting bras on a bit difficult, especially since I had a small square of non stick gauze on that blister spot that kept falling off. I had to make sure it was in place before putting the bra on.
Anyway, praise be, I found three that I loved. I wore one under my new dress, and I cannot tell you how good I felt. The bra with no underwire was SO comfortable. The straps stayed in place, and nothing was digging into me. My dress fit perfectly with the bra, and I didn’t spend all evening tugging on things.
Even if this surgery doesn’t help my back/neck issues (which I believe it already has.), the feeling I had last night was totally worth it. I felt good, and pretty!
Oops, this got long, sorry! 🤪
5/5:
I’ll share more tomorrow as we are on our way to dinner, but wanted to share a pic in actual clothes! See pic on last page.
4/20:
I’m free!!!! LOL
Tape is gone! It wasn’t bad at all, but there were a couple of sensitive spots. Sutures are gone. This is when I should be the most swollen. I’ll take 2 week post op pics tomorrow.
I can sleep in bed, just propped up on 2-3 pillows.
I can resume most normal activity, just no jumping, pulling or lifting more than 10 lbs.
I start the scar cream in two weeks. Next visit is in 4 weeks!
4/14:
Things are going quite well! Thank God the drains are out. I have had a little soreness in those areas and quite a bit of itchiness, but that’s starting to subside. Every once in a while I’ll get a sting or two, but that’s about it.
We brought our wild child pup home yesterday, and I was a bit nervous that he’d be too rambunctious, but he’s actually been really good! It was nice for both me and my DH that he wasn’t here early in the week due to DH having to deal me and the pup, and me not being able to help out while he was working.
I went with DH to his haircut today, and our stylist washed my hair that hadn’t been touched since last Thursday. Eeeww it was SO gross! I feel so much better now.
The thing I’m looking forward to the least is having all the tapes removed next Thursday. May need a Valium for that! 🤪
4/11:
Stopped taking the hydrocodone on Sunday, and have been fine with just Tylenol. DRAINS ARE GONE, thank the Lord! It wasn’t the most pleasant feeling, but better than I expected. Everything looks great, and I’m right on track. The n***** tape will be removed next Thursday.
Y’all…I can wash my hair tomorrow! It’s a gross, greasy mess. 🤪
4/8 POST OP:
She took 600 and 500! So, 2.5 lbs total.
All is good. Hopefully get the drains taken out on Tuesday.
4/8 10AM UPDATE:
Feeling pretty good this morning!
I didn’t sleep super well the first round. DH emptied the drains. The second time I got up, I felt a little nauseous, but was fine. Didn’t need to empty drains. Got up at 5 to check drains, still didn’t need to empty. This is the best I’ve felt. Have been sleeping pretty good after the first time getting up.
Ate breakfast, and will be heading to my post op shortly!
Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and offers to help if we need anything. I truly appreciate it! 🤗😘
4/7- 7PM UPDATE: I have a little pain on top, but it’s gone from about a 6 to maybe. 2-3. Very loopy, scratchy throat and very tired. First pic was preop with Valium.
Picked up a smoothie for dinner, and I’m all situated!
Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers!
UPDATE 4/6:
All systems are a go! Surgery is at noon tomorrow. Let’s DO THIS!!!
OP:
I thought I’d share that tomorrow is my preop appointment. Surgery is March 24th. I am SO nervous, and keep questioning if it’s something I truly need (I’m “just” a 38DDD), and if it will actually help in the ways that it has helped so many others.
I am so hopeful that I will feel the instant relief/difference that so many have experienced. I’m also really looking forward to how my clothes will look/fit, and hopeful that I will find bras that no longer cut into my ribs and fall off my shoulders or leave indents. I am excited to see how my workouts will change once I’m able up start again.
Like I said before, I’m not huge, so not sure how much different things will really be, but I am ready for a fresh start! Not looking forward to the recovery part, though. I hate the way those pills make me feel!
UPDATE 3/21
Soooo, bad news…I have developed a rash of some sort that is not responding to the prescription creams I was given. My surgery has been postponed. I will be seeing a dermatologist today to see what it is, and get an estimated time of how long it my take to rectify.
I am beyond sad and frustrated. Oh well, I have no control over what’s happening. Just bummed that it was good timing, everything was in place, and now everything is up in the air.
Signed- over these $;/&@ big boobs!
UPDATE 3/23:
I spoke with my surgeon this morning. She said to continue my meds until next Tuesday when I have my check up with the dermatologist. Surgery has been rescheduled for April 7th. As long as the dermatologist gives me the all clear, all is good to go…AGAIN. Please pray, and/or cross your fingers that things continue to heal up quickly.
Thanks, friends!
