We bring DS Top the Tater sour cream when we drive to Montana. DH used to bring back Alaskan Amber beer, but we can get that locally.
DD brought back 6 Lou Malnati's pizzas from Chicago last fall. Lucky for her I have a big freezer!
I'd drive 1000 miles if my favorite restaurant re-opened somewhere!

This is timely....as I am setting off on an approximately 8,000 mile trip tomorrow where I am looking forward to not only SCUBA diving but also indulging in all my favorite Filipino goodies (many on the first day): puto bumbong, babingka, ginataan, and halo halo are on the top of my list. I also regularly travel back to Maryland to get crabs; I SAY I'm visiting my brother and sister, but you know what I'm REALLY after!! Nothing better then a Maryland blue crab. Have a great trip and enjoy all that good food.

We like to pick up spotted cow beer when traveling through Wisconsin (from MN) to see in-laws in Indianapolis. We always stop at Krispy Kreme when we're on vacation, if we see one. Yes. Whenever we are near Wisconsin- we will cross the state border and so fun to visit new glarus also

Just getting it if I'm in the area, no real lengths, I don't think. Well, when I visit family in Illinois, we do go to Wisconsin to get bratwurst and cheese curds. I have friends and family who have moved from Pittsburgh, and when they return to visit, they buy a few pounds of chipped ham to take home with them. They will stock up on Sarris Chocolates, a local chocolate maker. Also, they will get a quart or so of cole slaw from Primanti Brothers. We also have family that travels to Pittsburgh during Lent just to go to a Lenten fish fry. Apparently, they don't exist in other areas. There is definitely a lack of good fish fries the farther outside of Pittsburgh you go. My husband and I always look for them (moreso for pierogies for me!), but to no avail. My dad always puts Sarris in our stockings at Christmas (my folks live 3 miles from the store, but I'm pretty sure he just gets it when he grocery shops at Giant Eagle) and I stretch them out as long as I can.
