My student loans were forgiven under Biden's limited PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) program! I applied in July 2022 and found out today that I met the requirements (employment and 120 payments). My loan repayment plan was the graduated repayment plan which does not qualify under the normal PSLF. I was so surprised. Woo-hoo. Doing a happy dance.

Congratulations and Thank You for your public service. I think your loan was forgiven under a different circumstance and not Biden's loan forgiveness as his proposal was put on hold until the Supreme Court reveiws. I just didn't want to have others get excited about their loans being forgiven when it hasn't been approved yet.
I think yours falls under this program. Congress created the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program in 2007 as part of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (the “Act”). The final bill passed with wide bipartisan majorities before being signed into law by President George W. Bush.
I know there was huge talk about it here in my city since we have several military bases here. Encouragement was given to those leaving the military to go to school for teaching and other public service jobs.

PSLF is different from Biden's loan forgiveness that is on hold until the Supreme Court rules...that is for a one time $10k amount. Apart from the original poster assuredly knowing what she's talking about, Biden authorized a time-limited expansion of PSLF where payments and pauses that didn't count previously now do count, as long as one applied before last October, including for those of us who had not applied for PSLF originally. This was to address the shitshow the student loan servicers had created and what Betsy DeVos exacerbated.

The limited PSLF opportunity was announced on Oct. 6, 2021 and ended Oct. 31, 2022 which allowed borrowers to receive credit for past periods of repayment that otherwise would not qualify for the normal PSLF, as an example, my graduated repayment plan did not qualify under the normal PSLF. My employment was also considered (University of Colorado). This is different from the $10-20K forgiveness that is stalled in the courts.

Also, congratulations to the OP! I am waiting to hear on mine, and so very grateful! Let us know the outcome. I received a letter in January from Mohela that was confusing as I thought I did not have enough qualifying payments and thought I did not qualify. Now balance is $0. I applied in July, so keep your hope!

I didn't apply because the state is paying my loan payment right now (it should pay about half) and I was nervous about messing that up for a "might be."
They are expanding it again and I may look more into it.

No, not really, as I put in the title, the limited PSLF program and not the $10K-20K Biden's stalled program. Maybe need to do research on the limited PSLF program.

Maybe you should have labeled your post "for teachers only".

I applied in July, so keep your hope! I was waiting on the consolidation letter from Mohela and it came Fri. The PSLF form was submitted in Oct and has been hanging out waiting for the consolidation. So, any day now! It's going to be a life changer. Almost $200k. I've been paying on this for almost 20yrs, to the tune of $1k per month. I have more than paid back my debt, but it's as if I've never paid a dime. I will breathe when I see that balance. Congratulations!!!

This has given me hope. I submitted my application in September to get in before the deadline and it’s been crickets. I don’t qualify otherwise as some of my time was in a private for profit schools.

I'm only a partial right now. I have more payments I need to make. But I submitted mine too and haven't heard anything either. Maybe they don't contact when you only have partial credit. But I have 5 years in right now. And I'm hoping payments made during the pandemic count toward it. I've been trying to make payments on my loans during the moratorium.

I'm sure you've checked but Biden approved forgiveness for a big chunk of for profit schools. Many were predatory or went under. And for what it's worth, I have heard crickets too, except from the loan holder who wanted to kbow what was going on. I kept calling bc no one could tell me and I have been scared something wasn't received in time or was misplaced. Or SOMETHING might screw this up. Until last month when someone gave me a timeline. The letter Fri was a little late, but it is in the order they predicted, so fingers crossed. And jeremysgirl, the months during the moratorium should count, because even if you didn't pay, those months are supposed to count toward your total.

I haven't made my full payment during this time so I don't expect that it's going to be an even trade. But I've been paying partial payments all through the pandemic. We were lucky enough to have never stopped working during this time. I had all my college loans paid off but the loans for my masters degree were pretty fresh.

Congratulations! I worked for government and non-profit and was initially denied because I had the wrong payment plan. Was able to re-apply for Biden's version and was approved. In fact, since I was denied initially and had continued making payments, they went back and refunded me a nice chunk of change. It is such a relief and a wonderful reward for public service commitment.
