They are calling the damage in Little Rock as 'catastrophic'... A significant tornado outbreak is underway in the South, as more than 28 million people are under a tornado watch, according to the National Weather Service. A confirmed, "catastrophic" tornado has already moved through the metro area of Little Rock, Arkansas, according to the NWS. *** Areas at risk of strong tornadoes include St. Louis; Davenport, Iowa; Peoria, Illinois; Paducah, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Tupelo, Mississippi. Strong storms will begin to fire up around 3 p.m. in Iowa, Illinois and Arkansas. Then, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., strong, long-track tornadoes could develop from Iowa to Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. abcnews.go.com/US/violent-tornado-outbreak-major-storm-leaves-millions-alert/story?id=98263258

holy cow live on KATV news (again, watching on TikTok) they are showing the alarms going off in their building while they film! Metrologists on KARK (local NBC) had their phones going off with alerts while on air. Radar showed it passed on the main road I take to get home off the state road. I didn't see it but it did get really still. Got a lot of rain and wind. Looks like it will all fire up again soon

Just turned it to local CBS. Heights neighborhood in Little Rock looks bad. They are reporting the mayor is requesting national guard to come in to help

I am 45 miles south and we have missed a lot of the storms. So far. I had planned on going to Little Rock today but decided against as I pondered the weather this morning. Otherwise, I would have been in the area hit at that time.
Another round is gearing up just to the west of me.
I hope everyone is safe!

It is heading right towards us!
Schools closed early, bus service stopping early, towns are setting up safe rooms all over and yet church still hasn't canceled this evenings stations of the cross.
I am supposed to take a pot of soup up for afterwards, but I told them if there are sirens they can do without. (Actually I said it nicer than that, but I refuse to get out in this mess.)

I rarely go to Little Rock now but used to go to the Heights for yard/estate sales. I hate that it was damaged. Wonder if Catholic High School will cancel their fundraiser for tomorrow. It's off Markham near Park Plaza Mall. Had thought about going to it

I believe the storm shelter nearest us will be open if we get another tornado warning. I know they had another school district on lockdown.

My biggest concern is I haven't heard from DH if they are letting people go early.
I know some of his associates ride the bus and they are stopping service at 5, so I hope people aren't stranded.
I want them to shut down and let people go. I don't want DH in a giant warehouse if severe weather comes through.

Seeing where Wynne, AR was also hit. It's between Little Rock and Memphis. I want to say closer to Memphis, along I40.

Oh Lordy. That is huge. There is no doubt in my mind that tornado alley has definitely shifted east of us (Oklahoma). Is Arkansas like Oklahoma with most houses not having basements?

Several schools also have safe rooms that are open to the public during tornado warnings. We don't have a basement or a storm cellar.

But in some areas, there are in ground shelters. I have an above ground shelter in my garage. Crazy weather - we have 36 wildfires going right now in Oklahoma. They are evacuating residents in one area just north of OKC. The winds are decreasing, thank God. It's been extremely windy today.

We are hearing Wynne was hit hard, hard. So far everything has passed on the north side of the city/county, but more is coming. If you have storms heading you way make sure all devices are charged and you have shoes and ID handy. ETA: pictures coming out of Wynne are not good. So much destruction.

Another tornado is passing just south of us in Desoto County, Mississippi. We are getting the rain from the northern edge.
Praying it doesn't veer north at all or it will hit us.
We are hearing sirens from both Memphis and Desoto county.

How’s that socialism working for the state of Arkansas? republicans truly are hypocrites. You can not blame the entire state for their elected officials. You are just as bad as them then. I voted straight blue. So did my parents, one of which was a life long republican. Vast majority of the people I spend time with vote blue. Not all of Arkansas is red. And tbh I don't even know why I am telling you that. You obviously don't give a shit
