The informality surprised me too but I also love it. I expect mine will arrive tomorrow 😉

I was also quite surprised by the design, but it sort of reminds me of old decorated manuscripts. and I loved reading about the symbolism behind the design.

I was quite surprised by the informality of it --- but I think it's beautiful. The Green Man threw me off for a moment, but I do like its symbolism.

I love it!!!!!!!! I didn't even know there would be a formal invite. Any idea how it compared to QEII's?
Camilla's blue guy - is that a warthog? Have we ever seen her coat of arms before, or is this a new release too?

Have we ever seen her coat of arms before, or is this a new release too? The blue guy is a boar, taken from her father’s coat of arms. She’s had this one since the early 2000s but it might have been tweaked since then.

Ok I just realized it says 'The Coronation of the majesties' -- I had never considered that Queen Camilla would ever be referred to as 'Her Majesty'. I thought that would only be for The King or Queen Elizabeth because they are the *actual* important person. (if that makes sense, its really early!)

I like the colors but the hodge podge of flowers looks messy to me. There are ways that those flowers could have been arranged in the design to make it more aesthetically pleasing and professional looking.

There are ways that those flowers could have been arranged in the design to make it more aesthetically pleasing and professional looking. I think that was my first reaction until I started to read about the design and the fact it’s based on an English wild flower meadow which is SO King Charles. Also “The invitation for the Coronation has been designed by Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator whose work is inspired by the chivalric themes of Arthurian legend.” Legendary images/Disneyesque images? Either way I think it’s rather nice and, as someone mentioned up thread, reminiscent of illuminated manuscript. The more I look at it the more I think it’s very appropriate.

I just looked up what illuminated manuscript is and I can kind of see the resemblance. But at least in some of the older pieces I saw, there was a difference in size of the shapes and flowers and usually with a swirl or something connecting them to add some cohesiveness. I generally think that knowing more about the inspiration should add to the story of the piece, not be the justification for why it is “nice”. And I don’t get that vibe here. But if they like it I guess that is what matters.

So when KC3 dies, does Camilla take over or William? I thought William but why is Camilla titled Queen while Queen Elizabeth’s husband remained titled prince?

So when KC3 dies, does Camilla take over or William? I thought William but why is Camilla titled Queen while Queen Elizabeth’s husband remained titled prince? Prince William succeeds King Charles. Camilla is not in the line of succession. Neither is Catherine, Meghan nor other spouses of the high ranking Royals. Camilla is Queen as the wife of the King. Catherine will be Queen as the wife of William. Prince Philip could not have been called King as a king is higher ranking than a queen. I have a distant memory that he was offered the title of King Consort and turned it down.

But if they like it I guess that is what matters. I'm not an art critic, but I agree w/ iamkristinl16 . I would have expected all the wild flower meadow elements (flowers, birds, strawberries, butterflies, etc.) to help direct your eyes around the manuscript to all the more important elements like the coats of arms and the green man (which I love). The design would have been more pleasing to my eye if the elements were different sizes or had been grouped together or if the artist had left more empty space. Art is subjective, of course, so what I love someone else will hate. However, in case Charles and Camilla read this, I want them to know I'll go to the coronation if invited, even though I don't love the invitation.

At first glance, I thought it looked like some of the beautiful illuminations that were once made by monks.

I think it's stunning. I'm very fond of the Green Man and the symbolism of all of the elements. I think it's natural, and often nature isn't tidy. Here are invitations to other coronations: www.bbc.com/news/uk-65189161

(if that makes sense, its really early!) i was 15 when i watch him marry diana. i remember how the turmoil the affair caused in their marriage. i never thought i'd see the day when camilla would ascend to the throne and be queen. the side piece became a queen! wow. one thing for sure though, camilla won't overshadow charles like i think diana would have if she and charles had become kind and queen. diana wouldn't have done it on purpose but i think people found her far more interesting and likable.
