Happy Easter to those who celebrate! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... it's an update of a classic meme ... so cute! I will do some laundry today and get myself organized to go back to work tomorrow. It is a PD Day tomorrow ... I am going to another school (closer to home!) to take a course for middle school teachers who teach Art who are not trained Art teachers ... perfect for me! My mum is coming over for dinner ... I broke down and got ham and scalloped potatoes (we like the boxed kind ) because I know that she wanted an "Easter Dinner" ... I would have been fine ordering pizza! Are you at the beach now jeremysgirl? How is everyone feeling today? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

We are headed to my cousins house in about a half an hour. There’s always homemade pasta on the menu today. Not sure what else it’s always very good.
My nephew and his wonderful wife, who lost their first child shortly after birth three years ago on Tuesday, and have a little girl who will be two in September, and are expecting another little girl in August, so we are very excited.
Hope everyone has a great day. Oh, and I finished The Night Agent last night and whaf an awesome series on Netflix.

Happy Easter to those who are celebrating today. We had our Easter dinner last night and all the family was here. I so enjoy spending time with my adult children. I love my grand babies too but something to be said about sitting around the table with a drink in hand having a fun conversation with the boys and their partners.
I cooked the turkey, stuffing and gravy yesterday and everyone else brought the sides. We set up our ping pong table for the meal in our garage and it’s perfect space to have everyone around the table. The food is set up on the workbench. If we eat in the house, everyone is scattered around wherever they can find a spot.
Quiet day today. I’ve taken the dog for a walk and done a load of laundry. DH is off four wheeling with my brother.
Supper will be leftovers and my mom will join us.

Happy Easter. That is a very cute meme leannec. Today is a quiet day. Dh didn't do his planting yesterday, so that will happen today. Today I think I'll focus on a puzzle that I just started. I need to finish the border. Then again, I need to make some labels for my newly arranged buckets in my closet. I bought some smart vinyl and want to test it out on my cricut. Dh made pizza dough last night and he's gonna fire up the pizza oven for dinner. Woohoo! It's spring, at least today! Enjoy the day!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate! christine58 so exciting for your nephew and his wife! I'm glad you liked The Night Agent! We liked it a lot. We just got back from our walk around Town Center. Dinner will be Tri-Tip roast with asparagus and fruit salad. This is one of the lakes at Town Center. We counted 14 goose eggs on the island. The geese are very protective of them. Our gym is to the left out of the picture. Sometimes I walk around the lake after I work out.

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates.
We had a late night last night with the Easter Vigil Mass. It started at 8pm with the lighting of the candle - we have a fire pit in the courtyard outside our chapel - and the procession into the dark church. We were full on ceremony - 3 priests, everyone with candles, incense and a confirmation - and didn’t finish until about 10pm. After cleaning up, we had a small party in the room where we normally have coffee. We were back again this morning as there was a young lad making his First Communion so I wanted to be there. We also found out this afternoon that a young couple in our community welcomed their first baby - a little girl - this afternoon.
During Mass I got a message from DS1, asking when we would be available for the girls to call, so we called from the car on the way home. Sophia was literally bouncing (on her bed). I gather she had consumed her fair share of the chocolate in the house. Lucia is starting to find her voice, which was fun, but she would only babble when she wanted. DS was trying to get her to say DaDa, but no go!
We’ve had a quiet afternoon - my current knitting project has come along nicely this long weekend - and have just finished our Easter dinner: roast lamb with loads of vegetables and gravy. We are not doing a dessert this year as I can’t eat it anyway. My Easter chocolate will have to wait until I get the all clear from my doctor at the end of the month.

Happy Easter to my dinner friends!
I'm waiting for DH to get back from the ranch so we can go to a friends house. Her daughter and SIL who had a Miscarriage earlier this week will be there. I'm so sad for them.
Additionally on the sad side, DH found a heifer ( first time momma cow) that didn't make it thru delivering her calf, They were both dead a day or so before he found them. It hit him hard, he's so attached to his cattle. We were both so sad all day yesterday. Another new momma brought her baby up to show off last night, so that eased the pain a little. It's officially calving season. I love the new babies! They play and have so much personality!
My friend is having ham and whatever everyone brings today, We're taking green beans and some fruit.
I hope everyone has an awesome day!!

I have friends who are big time ranchers so I understand the pain your DH is going through.

Hey all - Happy Easter to those who celebrate. I'm trying a jambalaya tonight - no idea why it popped in my head, but decided why not. I found a few recipes online and then texted my friend for New Orleans so have a hodgepod I'll attempt to make. I'm still coughing like crazy, so think I might have developed bronchitis - maybe I'll pop into an Urgent Care tomorrow to see if it's something antibiotics will help. Definitely over being sick! Looking at your meme leannec - I really should have bought myself a chocolate easter bunny, I miss stealing my kids' ears.

I finished The Night Agent last night and whaf an awesome series on Netflix. Sooo happy for your nephew and his wife on the next baby! I'm glad you liked The Night Agent! We liked it a lot. I just googled the trailer, and "Night Agent" looks sooo good! I also love watching series in D.C., (where I'm from)---fun to see all the places I've been. I especially love shots of Georgetown University and Francis Scott Key Bridge---my Dad's place was near there, and I used to walk everyyyyywhere and loved walking over Key Bridge. Such a great view of the city! It hit him hard, he's so attached to his cattle. We were both so sad all day yesterday Aww, I'm so sorry! I've been sobbing off and on for several days. I miss the family Easter fun we used to have. I miss my Dad, nephew, Meaty, Sophie, Little Guy, and Henry. BUT.....DH is taking me to a lovely lake today, so I'm looking forward to it! I'll be THRILLED to be around beautiful water, and also hoping to see some kiddos and doggies having Easter Egg hunts.

I LOVED dressing Meaty and Sophie in their Easter finest I was watching some HELPFUL youtubes about grief yesterday. Some made me cry even more, but it was cathartic. The counselors had some very helpful ideas I'd never heard of before. I've read a LOT of grief books, and I'd never heard about some of these things. I have some unresolved grief around my Dad, and wow---it HURTS! It's because I LITERALLY couldn't be with him more time when he was in the nursing home, and it KILLS me. Normally, I would have spent at least all day with him, AND, would have assured he was being well taken care of. Also, I would have made him LAUGH. We could have watched our favorite shows, etc. I know he understood why I couldn't be there very much, but it still kills me. There were days only DH went to visit, (he's awesome and I'm grateful!), but I HATED that I couldn't go. Ugh....I'm going to do something a grief counselor suggested, and I THINK it'll help. ((hugs)) to anyone who needs 'em.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate. We got up and finished prep for what we were taking to Nick's aunt's house. We took some pictures and opened our Easter presents. Nick got me new garden flags, a tin dragonfly for outside and some fun baking stuff. He needed new jeans so that's what the Easter bunny brought him. And candy. The pups got treats inside of plastic Easter eggs. We took pictures outside with them. We had a nice time at his family's celebration. Everyone enjoyed the food we brought. I am so full. It's nice to have leftover for lunches and to round out dinners this wewk. Now we have changed into comfy clothes and are relaxing in front of the TV for a while. We may play some rummikub later.
Wishing everyone a relaxing Sunday evening!

I have been failing to check into this thread daily, and it shows. I haven't been eating particularly healthy of late.
Tonight, though, I have some leftover chicken in the fridge & I'll do a salad & a spud to go with. Am hoping to a have a friend for dinner tomorrow. When I have someone over, I always make a proper meal.
Saw my aunt & my parents on Friday. Dad isn't doing great, so we just ordered in fish & chips. Though it sucks, I was happy to hear my mom say they're finally having conversations about moving him into a facility. She's not ready to move herself - both physically & mentally - and so that is part of the conversation (as in what to do with the house if he goes into care, because she doesn't want to be in a big house on her own). And I think there is some guilt there, too.

Happy Easter!
We celebrated yesterday as my DS is a fire/medic and had to work today. It was a wonderful day with my 2 kids and each of their significant others, DH and my parents. This is the first year that DS has had to work the holiday and I'm missing him today. But, it's been a laid back day. We went for a walk, watched a movie and DH just got home from picking up pizza from Pizza Hut for dinner. Later I'm looking forward to some leftover Easter dessert!

destined2bmom my thoughts and prayers are w/you for tmw's procedure and results. May they find that things are healing and that you're doing better. I'm thinking of you. scrappintoee , I'm very relieved to hear that you're in grief counseling. It really works and it's an essential part of your self care. You will find that life gets easier and better as you work through the losses. Those photos of my favorite nurses just crack me up. cycworker it's really hard to send a parent to a facility, but it's necessary. There are some really nice independent living and even assisted living facilities that have apartments for both parents. My mil was at a state-of-the art place w/yoga, tai chi and a hot therapy pool. They even had a beer and wine bar. She didn't participate in any of that, but I was always trying to get her to do tai-chi. Some of the residents still had cars and drove. It's something to consider. This is tough stuff. We turn into the parents and they turn into our children It's surreal.

Happy Easter!
We went to Maggiano's last night to finally celebrate ds' birthday (dh and I had covid on his bday) and dh's birthday next week. Tons of leftovers for tonight and we spent the extra $6 per person for an additional pasta, which will be tomorrow's dinner. We also got a carryout of Beef Tenderloin Medallions and Garlic Mashed Potatoes along with Tiramisu. She loves tiramisu, so I always try to order her some of we are getting takeout for her.
We got a side of Spaghetti for Step-FIL as well. MIL heated it up and brought about half of it to the hospital today. He ate almost all of it, so that is progress. Still no word on when he will be able to get the next round of chemo. The e coli infection hasnt cleared yet, but hopefully soon. He will either go to a sub-acute rehab or he will do some rehab at home. There is disagreement among the doctors as to which is preferable.
He said today that he just wants all of this to be over, no matter which way it ends. ☹

littlemama, my heart just breaks for you. He probably just wants to be home w/his family. I hope that they can safely send him home w/in-home nursing and PT. The oncologist wants him to do it ay home because infections can spread quickly at rehab and he cannot withstand another infection. Step fil also wants to go home. The issue is that MIL cannot adequately care for him until he can do more for himself.

Happy Sunday, friends! Sending hugs and good thoughts to all! 💕 We had ribs and an Aldi salad mix for dinner tonight. DH wanted cookies, but didn't realize that we'd had all the eggs with my attempt at an omelet this morning. That said, I found an eggless chocolate chip cookie recipe, and you know what? I think I like them more than ones I've made with eggs!

Just popped into say the jambalaya was amazing! Way, way too much for 2, but I'll spread the love and share with a few friends. I'd freeze it, but I never think shrimp does awesome frozen. In case someone is looking for something new to try - I started with this: www.daringgourmet.com/jambalaya/comment-page-12/#commentsJust the right amount of kick for us - I used thighs instead of breasts as I think they hold up better and fresh herbs as I had them on hand and my New Orleans native friend said to use Tony Chacere's creole seasoning and not bother with making my own. Oh and pretty sure used 1 lb of each of the proteins as we're hardly like that.
