LL Bean about 30 years ago. They came to town a couple years back so now I can shop in person. Herrschners send catalogs. I might order the odd rare thing. Talbots send catalogs that I browse through but they have in person shops here too.

We used to pass the ABC catalog around at work and place a big group order. Those were the days!

I still receive Current catalogs. They have an order form in them but I order online. I can remember when there were different prices for each item based on order total I believe. The catalog was passed at work so we could get a lower price. I still receive other catalogs but always order online. I miss JC Penney and Christmas wish catalogs the most. Ah the good ole days!

ABC! We used to make a giant order at work from them. You had to buy the same 3 things to get the cheaper price. lol
I used to work for the JCP catalog department. I loved it. I did gift wrapping and pulling orders for customers...

I remember when you got cheaper prices the more items you purchased. Friends would get together with me to place an order. I still have a big box one of my orders came in that I use to store odd-sized Christmas decorations.

My mother still has some of the very first catalogs from Penzeys Spices. When they were mostly hand written and copies, Then when he started with the color catalogs with recipes included. I just received an LTD catalog recently and needed to order something from it online and set it aside but never got around to it

I used, but now I order online. I still like looking at catalogs and then I order on line. In fact back in the day I used to ask people at my job to save their catalogs for me.

Christmas just isn't the same without the big, thick Sears catalog.
When I was a kid, we didn't make wish lists, we just circled our favorites in the catalog. I never did get that Snoopy sno-cone machine. . .

Remembered something else Re catalogs. When my son was about 4 years old he had chosen some toys he wanted for Christmas from one of the Christmas catalogs. He wanted to make sure Santa knew exactly what he wanted so he took the catalog with him to show Santa when he saw him at the mall. Probably my favorite Christmas photo.

Most recently, I’ve ordered from CTMH or Stampin’ Up or Pampered Chef but even that was several years ago. I find the catalogs for craft stuff are so much easier to shop from compared to a website because they show the sample projects right on the page with the products.
My MIL used to order all kinds of weird stuff from true mail order catalogs for us for Christmas gifts, mainly Harriet Carter, and all that stuff was total crap. Lillian Vernon, Lands End and LL Bean are all much nicer quality but she never ordered from those places.

I did.
When I was a kid, we spent several years in remote northern communities where there was nowhere to buy certain things - clothes, winter coats, boots, shoes, Christmas gifts, etc. Mom would order most of that from catalogues.

I ordered school uniforms and snow pants from JC Penney when my kids were little. I got a bunch of others but never ordered anything. Now I just deposit catalogs in the recycling bin on my way in from the mailbox.
Sears & JCPenney were the Amazon of their day. It's sad that they both had the infrastructure to be giants of online shopping but not the vision. They clung to their outdated business models until they swirled down the drain.

YES! That was very popular when I was in high school…when I never had money, so I had to save up, and be very selective in what I bought each time. It was so hard to choose! LOL

The J Peterman catalog is one that I still receive, but I order online when I find something I want. Their 1947 Dress is awesome - great fit, classic look. Everything I've ordered has been excellent quality.

Gooseberry Patch! I loved their catalog - the layout, hand drawn items, little life tips in the margins, and recipes. I ordered from them when I was just out of college. It seemed like suck an adult thing to do, plus it was all cute stuff.

I can't remember the name of the catalogue, but it used to sell holiday decor. I used to buy our Halloween decorations from there. This would have been in the mid 90's. Then there was the massive JC Penny and Sears catalogues that would come in the mail.

Lilian Vernon was a catalog with lots of interesting things.
I went to thir store in the Virginia Beach area, but the store was a disappointment.

Where did you live? We ordered from the Sears catalouge. There was an depot in town for pickup, we were 15 minutes from town. Really helpful when people didn't go often into the city. It was an hour away yet people only seemed to go a few times a year when I was a kid. People go multiple times a week now. Vesey's seed company still will send out catalouges, they also have a website. I have ordered from them.

We lived in Pine Point, NWT (twice) and Eldorado, SK (which was about 10 miles from the NWT border). This was in the 1960s.
We were the second family with kids to live in Pine Point the first time. In Pine Point, the first time we lived there, Mom (and the other women) had to order food every 6 months, to last 6 months, and it was trucked in to the townsite over the frozen lakes. She worked out how many cases of vegetables and fruit, sacks of flour and other baking stuff, pounds of frozen meat, etc. We only had powdered milk. There was no fresh produce. The second time we were there, which was 2 years after the first time, there was a grocery store. Most other stuff came via catalogue orders. Eldorado had less than 25 families when we lived there.
Both were very small communities - company towns and they were both shut down in the 1980s. They're now ghost towns, reclaimed by nature. All houses and other buildings were hauled away or demolished.
