I watched 60 minutes last night and there was a segment on Ray Epps who Carlson has touted as being part of some January 6th conspiracy. He hinted that Epps could be a FBI plant and Epps was the one who instigated the crowd. This has ruined the guys life and he had to sell his home and lives in an RV in an undisclosed location due to death threats. The story on FOX was not true. FBI denied his involvement.
Maybe the network was concerned that it would get sued...yet again.

from NPR: "Carlson featured in Dominion Voting Systems' lawsuit. Yet he is also the focus of a lawsuit from his former senior booking producer, Abby Grossberg, who filed two separate suits.
In one of the suits, Grossberg accused Carlson and Fox of sexism and harassment, alleging that his show's workplace was replete with examples of misogyny. Her lawsuit claims, among other things, that mocked-up photographic images depicted then-U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "in a bathing suit revealing her cleavage" and that staffers were polled — on two separate occasions — on which of two female candidates for Michigan governor they would rather have sex with."
And of course he fact that he was stupid enough to text that he hated Trump and thought there was no evidence of the voting fraud that he talked about on the air certainly cost Fox a ton of money.

Per Yahoo news ...
Carlson's exit is related to the discrimination lawsuit filed by Abby Grossberg, the producer fired by the network last month, the people said. Carlson's senior executive producer Justin Wells has also been terminated, according to people familiar with the matter. A Fox News representative would not comment.

Can you imagine the “woke mob” forcing Rupert Murdoch to do anything he didn’t want to do?
As to the rest of her rant. You have to wonder if she even knows what the truth is.

I can't imagine him just quietly going away and am sure he will be making noise again soon.
He and Lemon are suing so that could get interesting.
Comments about Fox going woke I am sure that will be spouted a lot in the coming days/months.
I really wonder where he will land and start spewing but at the same time it won't be anything I would watch anyways.

I had to laugh at what was being discussed (and what WASN’T) on Fox today. So predictable!

Here ya go... Tucker Carlson became a free agent Monday, and at least one suitor may have already emerged for the controversial right-wing cable host. Russia Today, the state-run television network that broadcasts in the U.S. and around the world as “RT,” hinted that it could be a landing spot for Carlson after his surprising dismissal from Fox News. “Hey @tuckercarlson, you can always question more with @rt_com,” the network tweeted from its English language account. www.rawstory.com/rt-suggests-it-could-be-a-landing-spot-for-tucker-carlson/

Oh!!!!!!!! Rick Wilson speaks . The conservative network unceremoniously dumped its top-rated host Monday morning just days after agreeing to pay $787 million to settle a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems based in part on false claims Carlson made about Donald Trump's election loss. But Wilson said the conservative broadcaster may now pose a threat to the former president's 2024 chances."The shock of this will ripple through the enormous right-wing media ecosystem for ages to come," Wilson tweeted. "He was the big goal for MAGA activists: the Tucker Hit. Consider this: Ron DeSantis predicated his entire campaign on winning the 'Tucker Primary.'" *** "Fox probably has a pretty stiff noncompete in his contract, so I wouldn't count on the Tucker Carlson White Power Hour on the Blaze or Daily Wire any time soon," Wilson said. "TBD, of course, but Fox will leak those details soon enough to chill the waters. Which leads us to a fascinating prospect." *** "What if he runs?" Wilson added. "He's rich enough. He'd instantly have an online fundraising juggernaut second only to Trump, and perhaps surpassing him. He's polarizing, terrible, and utterly amoral ... in short, better than Ron DeSantis for the base. I'd argue he's the only Republican who presents a material danger to Donald Trump in a primary. Celebrity, money, mental acuity, cynicism, pro-Putin isolationism, and an overt love of authoritarianism are a pretty strong secret sauce for the MAGA base. Celebrity got Trump the [White House]. It could certainly do the same for Tucker." All the qualities that make Carlson's potential candidacy seem far-fetched would be considered strengths in a GOP primary, Wilson argues."Spare me your 'That could never happen. Even Trump's GOP would never vote for a former TV host pushing white replacement theory,'" he wrote. "That's PRECISELY who they'd vote for."www.rawstory.com/tucker-carlson-2024/

Has anyone else noticed the deafening silence from the peas that always make snarky comments when the thread is about Biden or anything even slightly leaning left? I think they are in their hidey holes.
Not a word about their favorite tv personality getting fired for lying. I guess that is to be expected considering the usual reaction from that crowd.

speculation about why Carlson might have been fired heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/april-24-2023?r=1f0orz&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=emailGrabbing headlines today at home was the unexpected news that Tucker Carlson is out at the Fox News Channel. The decision was so quick he was not permitted a final show, making Friday’s goodbye his last. There is not yet a clear story about what drove him out, but there are several things that likely contributed.
First is lawsuits: the Fox Corporation’s recent $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems; the looming lawsuit against the Fox Corporation by another voting systems company, Smartmatic; and another lawsuit from former Carlson producer Abby Grossberg accusing Carlson and other executives of creating “a work environment that subjugates women based on vile sexist stereotypes.” That lawsuit will likely bring up the many appallingly sexist things Carlson has said over the years, including a discussion with a radio shock jock in which he seemed to defend statutory rape and child marriage.
There is the potential for yet another lawsuit, this one from Ray Epps, a Trump supporter who was at the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and around whom Carlson built a conspiracy theory that led to death threats and forced him and his wife into hiding. On Sunday, Epps told 60 Minutes that Carlson was “going to any means possible to destroy my life.” “He’s obsessed with me,” Epps said.
Insurers on the hook for large settlements are likely to demand that Fox clean up its act, especially with Trump running for office again and likely back in the media lineup.
Second is Carlson’s attacks on his colleagues and private dismissal of Fox News Channel programming, revealed in the discovery process of the Dominion lawsuit, which made it quite clear the channel was lying to its audience.
There is also the possibility that FNC head Rupert Murdoch recognizes that the right wing has moved so far right that it is better to cut the extremists loose than to try to keep them from moving toward other far-right platforms, especially as the FNC is trying to renegotiate its cable fees. In a sign that the party might be splitting elsewhere, as well, Georgia governor Brian Kemp announced today that he will not attend the Georgia Republican convention this summer, choosing instead to rally supporters in his own new organization.

Another thought on why he was fired... Wait there are two!!!! Vanity Fair's Gabriel Sherman first reported that Carlson's speech on Friday to the Heritage Foundation may have led to his downfall. Sherman writes: A new theory has emerged. According to the source, Fox Corp. chair Rupert Murdoch removed Carlson over remarks Carlson made during a speech at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th Anniversary gala on Friday night. Carlson laced his speech with religious overtones that even Murdoch found too extreme, the source, who was briefed on Murdoch’s decision-making, said. Carlson told the Heritage audience that national politics has become a manichean battle between “good” and “evil.” Carlson said that people advocating for transgender rights and DEI programs want to destroy America and they could not be persuaded with facts. “We should say that and stop engaging in these totally fraudulent debates…I’ve tried. That doesn’t work,” he said. The answer, Carlson suggested, was prayer. “I have concluded it might be worth taking just 10 minutes out of your busy schedule to say a prayer for the future, and I hope you will,” he said. “That stuff freaks Rupert out. He doesn’t like all the spiritual talk,” the source said.According to Sherman, Murdoch may have also been "unnerved" by his former fiancé's admiration of Carlson. Murdoch was said to have split with Ann Lesley Smith because of her religious beliefs. "By taking Carlson off the air, Murdoch was also taking away his ex's favorite show," Sherman observed. www.rawstory.com/rupert-murdoch-tucker-carlson-prayer/

So...... The order was direct from Rupert Murdoch!! People familiar with the situation who were not authorized to comment publicly said the decision to fire Carlson came straight from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch," the report said. A lawsuit filed by former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg was said to be connected to Carlson's firing."Murdoch is also said to be concerned over Carlson's coverage of the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, in which the host has promoted the conspiracy theory that it was provoked by government agents," the report noted. www.rawstory.com/rupert-murdoch-tucker-carlson/#cxrecs_sYup. He was beginning to believe he had impunity to do whatever he wanted. So all the legal risks, plus attacking his bosses in texts, made Murdoch say 'enough.' And for all those folks on the far right who think Tucker can do whatever he wants stay popular... I wouldn't bet on it. I think he may have finally angered the wrong people.

FOX has dirt on tucker... Fox News is in possession of potentially damaging information about Tucker Carlson in a dossier its executives compiled in case the conservative cable host ever sought to attack the network, Rolling Stone reports. That threat is no longer hypothetical after Fox News’ announcement on Monday that it has cut ties with Carlson, and split sources told the outlet that it was “the worst” and on “the messiest possible terms,” descriptions that are at odds with the network’s characterization of a mutual and amicable decision to depart with its highest-rated host. The existence of an “oppo file” on Carlson was confirmed to the outlet by eight sources. A network spokesperson denied that such a dossier exists saying, "This is patently absurd and categorically false. We thank Tucker for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.” The file contains allegations Carlson created a toxic work environment and includes claims that he made disparaging comments about management and colleagues, as well as complaints about his workplace conduct. Carlson has so far remained mum about the circumstances behind his dismissal. “But if Carlson attempts to torch the network he’s leaving, Fox is prepared, the sources say,” Rolling Stone’s Diana Falzone writes. The effort to compile a Carlson dossier was led by the “notoriously aggressive” Irena Briganti, who heads the network’s communications department, the report said. “Irena will never be shy about using these things,” a network source familiar with complaints about Carlson told Rolling Stone. A former Fox host told the outlet “[Briganti] keeps files on everybody to screw with them.” “It’s classic Fox.” Falzone writes: “Over the years, Briganti and Fox PR’s notoriously aggressive tactics have been turned against its own most prominent talent. For instance, The Daily Beast reported in 2018 that 'emails reviewed and verified’ by the outlet show that Fox’s communications brass have planted negative stories about some of their own top stars, including hosts like Bill O’Reilly and Stuart Varney — the latter of whom is still a Fox employee." www.rawstory.com/tucker-carlson-2659911522/

Fox lost $500- $900 million after Tucker was fired, .6% of the company's value. Fox stock also slid after news of the settlement. And they still have to face the Smartmatic lawsuit. Couldn't happen to a more deserving family & company.

Fox made the same choice the Republicans did. Instead of denouncing the white supremacists and election deniers, Fox decided to embrace them and gave up any remaining shred of journalistic standards, ethics and integrity. They deserve the fallout and worse.

Oh my gosh, aj2hall!! I was just getting my hair cut last week and the girl cutting my hair and another lady were talking things political I chose not to get involved in. The other person started the talk. So my stylist said after a bit that someone who came in for a cut stated a small school system near me(about 20 miles) had to put kitty litter in the bathrooms for students. I asked had that really happened? And it was almost word for word what the guy said above.

at least there is no Tucker on tonight www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/04/26/tucker-carlson-leaves-fox-news-satire/Opinion There is no Tucker Carlson on tonight By Alexandra Petri There is no Tucker Carlson on tonight. Bow ties (abandoned, but still loyal) hang at half-staff. All the questions that could have been Just Asked by someone who was Just Asking Questions go skulking along, unvoiced. The Devil’s advocate is off the air; his client must seek new representation.
There is no Tucker on tonight. Tonight, no smirk, no squint, no sneer, no racist rhetoric, accompanied by a stifled giggle. Tonight, if you turn on the TV, it will not stare back at you perplexed and angry as though you are a startling typo that has made the Bible sexy. You will not be all but directed on whom to harass or threaten. You will have to make things up as you go along. Tonight, if you say, “Roku, show me the exact diametric opposite of ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,’ ” your TV will not have a ready answer.
There is no Tucker on tonight. There will still be television to alarm you, if you like to be alarmed. You can flip to Newsmax and get your dose of daily horrors coupled with an ad for an enormous golden coin. And it is not as though Fox News’s daily transmission of ugliness (and, helpfully, what pillows to toss and turn upon as you lie awake at night, seething!) has faded. There are still broadcast options for learning why what is wrong with the world is Someone Else’s fault.
But there is no Tucker on tonight. For one vertiginous hour, his viewers must guess on their own whom to hate. I do not envy them; it is not easy to know who will be his next target! You would think “people” would be a good bet, but sometimes it is not people at all, but M&Ms! Tuckerless, his fans will be forced to conjure baseless conspiracy theories on their own. Who is pulling the strings, and what are the strings? It will be lonely, sitting there unsure of whom to rail against. (And supposing they guess wrong?)
There is no Tucker on tonight. Who knows what your grandmother will do with this suddenly free hour! Maybe she will read a book, instead! Maybe tomorrow night she will go for a walk, make a face at a baby, say hello to a good dog. Maybe the night after that she will pick up the phone and call someone she hasn’t spoken to in years, and really listen. Maybe she will take up knitting, or gardening, or join antifa. Or maybe she will just turn on Newsmax.
But at least there is no Tucker on tonight. If you want to watch someone spout white-supremacist talking points, you will have to be pushed down a YouTube rabbit hole by a malign algorithm like everyone else.
Tonight, he is gone, but that does not mean he will never come back. (Perhaps, next time, for a state-sponsored propaganda network!) There is something unsettling about the disappearance, like when the sea draws back before the wave hits. Could this really have happened at any time? There was no curse keeping him there? All those nights spewing his conspiracy theories and anger, he could simply have ... not? And it is not as though the rest of Fox News is as mysteriously quiet; Sean Hannity is not donning a hair shirt and appearing on air with lamentations. Fox is not replacing Carlson’s show with one big scrolling correction, periodically interrupted by video messages from family seeking to contact lost relatives. Tucker is gone; the rest remains. His brand of pollution still lingers in the air. But at least there is no Tucker on tonight.
