My son is traveling to Disney world with his high school band. Some of the meals will be covered by a $25 Disney gift card will this be enough for most adults to get a meal and a cold drink?

Better have a few extra dollars. That will cover a bare bones meal with a drink with either a side or dessert, not both.

My daughter just went with her band and they were given a $35 gift card each day. She had to supplement at the end of the day -- not by much, just a few dollars.
They had vouchers for breakfast at the resort so the $35 didn't quite cover lunch and dinner. $25 would definitely be one meal.

WDW has restaurant menus on the website and in their app, so you can check prices directly. I've tried to set the filter for Quick Service restaurants for the 4 parks. But it will show all the snack carts and such. Some restaurants, if they offer multiple proteins, may have a platter that combines them. These platters + drink, dessert will work out to more than $25. But in general, for entrée and drink it should be enough. Drinks are $4.29/$4.99 depending on size. Burgers are about $13, Pizza is about $12. Other types of entrees are in the $15 range. A place like the main quick service in the Star Wars area, there are combinations where if you have entree + drink + dessert would be closer to $30. disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/#/magic-kingdomEDIT: Well, full link didn't work, so here's just the Magic Kingdom, and you can use the dropdown in the upper right to switch parks, and the button to select just Quick Service.

Depends on where you eat. No table service. Some quick service. Food stands yes. Water is free. He'd be more comfortable with some extra money so he's not stressed.

Have him put the DisneyWorld app on his phone!
You can do so much with that. You can check the line time on rides, order food so you can get it faster at quick service locations. He can look over the menus to see what he wants to eat without visiting each location. There is a LOT of food at DW.
IMO - $25 isn't going to go far.

Thanks. This kid won the marching band hot dog eating contest with 25 hot dogs. A hot dog is $10 at Disney!

My son had plenty to eat at Disney, thank you.
A group of four girls on the trip dined at Be Our Guest and when the $600 bill arrived, cried.

First I am completely shocked that they got in! It is one of the hardest reservations to get especially this time of year! We had to book months in advanced. We were there in January and Be our Guest is a prix fixe menu and dinner is $67.00 per person. Even with specialty non-alcoholic drinks at $19.00 each I don't understand how they could have rung up a $600 bill.

omg how did those girls rack up such a bill! I'm guessing someone had a parent's credit card to bail them out
Glad your son had a good time

We dropped off our granddaughter at one of the guest check in areas recently, and ate at the food court. Everything is expensive. At least 20% more than say a mall food court. The restaurants, particularly the specialty ones, are, I have heard, very expensive. Expect to pay a couple of hundred for two people. Barely a week goes by that we don't get a news article about something at Disney going up in price. Like having to pay for hotel parking now. And shuttles. I think it's awful.

You do not have to pay for self-parking at WDW resort hotels. The Disney busses are also still free. If you are staying at a WDW you also get free parking at any of the theme parks. Yes, you do have to pay to get a shuttle from the Orlando airport now because they have done away with the Magical Express. That said, food is expensive there. But it has gotten expensive many places - even Wendy’s ends up being $10+ per person these days. The counter-service food choices are plentiful, however, so it is possible to find something to please everyone’s tastes.

The kids love to snack at Disney, too - the carts are everywhere and are tempting! (Not to me, of course...I'm only talking about the kids. Ignore my Snacking Around Disney list...)
I would mostly make sure you have a way to get DS more money if it becomes an issue. When DD went with her band, one of the kids in her group didn't bring enough spending money, and he didn't have a debit card, reloadable card, or emergency card that his parents could use to get him money. His mom ended up getting me the money via Venmo or something, and I got him cash (and if I hadn't been there, we could have made it work through DD's account and an ATM).
