ass. 
Dh's company lost their contract so dh will be out of a job come the end of January. We are taking care of all "freebie" medical stuff that we can while we still have good coverage - teeth cleanings, annual wellness visits, and the annual "woman" visits for me.
The only dates that I could get for my mammogram, a pap smear, and an ABUS (automated breast ultrasound - no idea what that is!@) is on my birthday.
Knowing my luck, I'll also be having my period then.

I would say what crappy timing, but really there's no good time to lose your job and your health insurance. I hope he finds something quickly and you guys will be OK until then.

The new company is supposed to start sending out offers to the employees they want to retain. Unfortunately, dh is in management - the ones that usually aren't kept.
We've been banking about a third of dh's paycheck these last few months, so if he doesn't get an offer, we'll be sort of okay for a few months.

That sucks. I think you need to choose a weekend and make it your birthday weekend and celebrate the heck out of it. There are free things to do all over the place and a weekend about something other than job stress might be a good thing. I know it's hard not to dwell, but your birthday is important.
