We bought some new mattresses and box springs for several beds. I can’t decide is they are too tall, or just taller than I’m used to and I will grow to like them. They are different heights based on the bed frame. I may have to swap them for low profile box springs. But it’s a pain to get them to the store to swap when we don’t own a truck.
How tall is your mattress off the floor? Do you have a strong preference either way?

I’m not home to measure, but our bed is tall (about hip height on me). My husband is 6’ 4”, so I try to make certain things a little more comfortable for him since he has to make so many other comfort accommodations on a daily basis. I don’t always feel like I do it gracefully, but it didn’t take me long to get used to climbing up into bed. Changing the sheets is easier, too. Fingers crossed that I don’t ever fall out of bed in my sleep, though!

I'm 5'-6" and can't get into my DD's bed. It's so tall!
I like a normal height, whatever that is. I like my bed to be a height I can easily sit on the edge to put on my socks. Mine is set to 25" to top of mattress. I bought an adjustable bed frame and had them set it to this.

I just went and measured - 27" from floor to top of mattress
I don't know if that's tall or not - I wouldn't want it to be lower though

I just measured mine. It is 28 inches from the floor to the top on the mattress. My mattress does have the extra pillow topper thing. The frame has about 8inches of space from the floor to where the box spring starts. It is substantially taller than my last mattress, or at least it feels it. My feet do not touch the floor if I sit on the side.
And other useless comments 😄: In hindsight I would not get a pillow topper attached to my mattress. It doesn’t allow you to flip the mattress over only from top to bottom on that one side. But I love it, so I would try one that you buy separately and put on.

My last set featured a 14" box spring a a mattress that tall or taller. I went out the first night and bought a step stool. I really loved the taller bed and miss it now that I'm in a more normal sized set.

It took me a few months to realize/remember my days of reaching down to pick something off the floor are gone.

Too tall. I have an adjustable base bed which is higher than I'd like. I have a Saatva mattress (the lowest one you can get) and I STILL need to use a step stool to get into bed. Annoying at first but now I'm used to it.

I am only 5’ tall, and the top of the mattress comes to mid-thigh. That is probably on the high side for me, but it is fine for my SO. I can sit on the very edge and still touch the floor so getting in and out is no problem.
There is this hotel we like to stay at it when we go up to LA for a couple of days. The beds are so freaking tall I have to jump up to get on top. I cannot sit on the edge and touch the floor. I kind of have to slide down or jump down to get out of that bed.

I just measured mine ... it is 28" from the floor ... I'm not tall at all (5'1") but that works for me! This is my bed ... a classic IKEA frame that so many people have!

We just night a new bed a few months ago. I am about 5’5” and I am unable to get into it. There is now a step stool on my side of the bed.
ETA: I measured and it is 36”.

Annoying at first but now I'm used to it. I have a Saatva mattress too and I love it! Every night I get in and exclaim that I love my bed. I have drawers under my bed so it's a little taller already. High profile mattress. I would say probably 36 inches. It hits me at my hip hinge. I'm tall and I still have to crawl in.

I have a very small wooden step that I use. We only have a platform bed and a mattress + 3" mattress pad. I also have footstool that the dogs use. It is 38" tall.

I'd guess it's about 36" to the top of the mattress (bed, low profile box spring, thick mattress). It's perfect for us, but I'm 5' 8" and DH is 6' 3". When my BFF was here (she's 5' 3"), it was too tall for her to easily sit on.
I do not like low beds, just like I don't like low toilets. Toilets that only come up to mid-shin make me feel like I'm in a kid's restroom lol

Useless thing.. our mattress doesn't have a pillow topper but we still can't flip it.. the bottom has a different padding.. my son said "MOM you don't have to flip mattresses anymore".. I dunno?? I did flip it top to bottom though. lol

It's about hip height for me. 27"? Our guest bed is something like 18" from floor to the top of the bed and DH says that's too low.

I’m not sure without measuring, but for me ours is too high. I’m 5’2” and I practically have to launch myself into it at night. DH is 6’ and he loves how high it is so I’ve been outvoted, LOL. Our bed has a platform frame with drawers underneath, plus the standard height Sleep Number bases and a deep mattress so it’s pretty tall.
Our guest room has a traditional bed frame and a Sleep Number bed that I slept in when DH had Covid and I find it much easier to get in and out of that bed.

I like a tall bed. The top of the mattress hits my hip bone, and I am 5'7". My fiancé would like our bed to be much, much lower, but somehow, I won that battle.

Mine is pretty high but I got used to it quick. I don’t have to take a running leap to get into it or anything, but my shih tzu gets a lift up.

I did the same thing in our guest room. The frame and mattress looked to low, so I added a box spring and now it's too high. I'm seeing if I can live with it, but at 5'3 I have to kind of "hop" up there.

I’m only 5 4 and I can comfortably sit on it. It’s not low but not high. I just measured our guest bed and it’s 27 and I think our bed is about the same.

My nighstand is 23-24 inches tall and slightly lower than my bed which is annoying...
I only know the height because I've been nightstand shopping and they are all too short.
Side question, if your bed is tall, do you put your nightstand on stilts or where did you find one that's tall enough?

Ours is 31" tall. we had to return the first box spring they sent us, we would have had to have a step stool to get up into bed. the lower box spring is about 6", so MUCH better.
Hubby and I are both 5'4".

Side question, if your bed is tall, do you put your nightstand on stilts or where did you find one that's tall enough? Our nightstands are shorter than the bed. I have 2 boxes with an alarm clock on top on my hubby's side of the bed so I can see it. Out lamps are wall mounted swing arm lamps. My alarm clock is on my nightstand and I just reach out and hit the snooze. We've just adapted the the height difference. My feet do not touch the floor. I put on my shoes and socks in the bathroom with the lid down.

Ours is 28 inches. I am like 5'4" and have to scoot up when I sit on it. My feet don't touch the floor when I do. I'd prefer a taller bed than shorter honestly.
