In addition to teacher’s appreciation week it’s also nurses week. A joke among nurses is the crappy appreciation gifts that we have received over the years. A painted rock because, “you rock!” Leftover pizza when you work night shift, or crumbs. You get the idea.
I’ve been given numerous plastic cups, pens, etc. my favorite was a potted herb of my choice. I chose sage and transplanted it to my garden and I’ve had five years of fresh sage.
This year the staffing agency I work for sent a link to order my Fanny pack. It’s a great idea because I who do not need a Fanny pack passed it up. And I forfeited my right to complain.
I’ve been on the management side too. Here’s $200 to do something tgat 100 people will complain about. Good luck!

I was passing out ice cream last night and some smug asshole murse in the ER wearing bodycon Figs said "I'm so glad I went to nursing school" and rolled his eyes at the ice cream
Yeah me too you little bitch, how about a kick in the balls instead? Go flex for the techs.
Some people are such dicks.

Thank you for being nurses and caring for others! Anyone who has been in a hospital or been the family member of someone in the hospital knows it is the nurses who really make everything happen. Doctor's breeze in for 5 minutes, usually at the most unlikely time of day, and you are there 24/7. Thank you!

I’m grateful for and appreciate what nurses do because it’s a job I couldn’t/wouldn’t do.
My BFF is a high level nursing director at a very large hospital. She works her ass off for nurses week and not one person ever says thank you. It’s truly a thankless effort.
For those of you who bitch about your rock or cold pizza, grow up. Someone actually put thought and effort into that.

Nurses are truly my heroes. I am so grateful for my nurses and think that nurses should be truly celebrated. Happy Nurses Week and thank you for taking such good care of all of us.

She works her ass off for nurses week and not one person ever says thank you. It’s truly a thankless effort. For those of you who bitch about your rock or cold pizza, grow up. Someone actually put thought and effort into that. I think the complaint is that nurses are asking for better pay, the proper supplies and equipment to do their jobs, work-life balance, and safe staffing ratios. Then the nursing director who hasn’t provided direct patient care in decades and holds meetings about staffing and mandates over time while not taking a patient load or staying late herself hands out a rock and expects nurses to heal thanks and praise on them for the thought and effort of pizza and a rock. I didn’t need or want a gift for nurses week. I always say thank you for pizza or food of any kind but when I worked a cart I rarely had time to go eat the food because I was too busy. The only time I saw my don was when she was telling me I should punch out for my lunch break because she gets in trouble if I don’t. Couldn’t provide me with lunch coverage though.
