Looking to buy a new kindle. Do I really need the 16 gb or is the 8 gb enough storage?

According to google the 8gb is about 3,000-6,000 books. lol. I'd say that will be enough. Also, don't forget that you can save a bit of money by getting the one "with ads". The ads are only suggestions for books, and they only appear when you're waking up the Kindle, and along the bottom when you're looking at your library screen. Never while you're reading.

I have had mine a couple of years now. 95% of my books come from the library so storage is not an issue at all. I read about a book a week. Before getting it I read about 2 books a year.
I love being able to read in bed with the lights off!

I have the 8 and it's perfect for me. I could always delete a book if I needed more storage.

Also if you are new to Kindle, you can go to booksatrillion.com and do a one time membership for $50 and have access to all of their books and if you can't find what you are looking for you can request it. I was hesitant at first, but decided to give it a go and have already added close to 120 to my kindle in the last few weeks. You will download the file and then email it to your kindle address, which in turn Amazon adds it to your library. Wish I would have done it sooner as I purchased quite a stack of physical books about a month ago and could have downloaded them all from Books-a-trillion.

Thank you all for your replies. Yes I am new to kindle and can’t wait to get started. I was so hesitant but took the leap three years ago and LOVE being able to read in bed without disturbing dh. It took dd a while to also take the leap but I gave her one for Christmas and she now loves it too.

I just got a new Kindle on Sunday. I was looking at the Oasis, but didn’t want to spend that much money. I ended up getting the Kindle paper white signature Edition. I love that it has a light that can go anywhere between white and yellow. It also can be charged on a wireless charger. It is the first Kindle that I have gotten without the ads. I paid $144 on Amazon. I never pay for books as I get most of them from the libraries that I belong to.
